Glad you made it Vern. If your trans is good, I've got a good Volvo 465 for you. To my knowledge no one has been inside except for an overhead. Hasn't used any oil except what ruined the ECM a couple years ago. That and the wiring harness have been replaced. Rod

At the tire shop. Hooked up after the frame cut off. Slider all the way forward makes it a little too close maybe. Did free up the slider, but found they didn't give me much air line for the slider release. Got it tight, but didn't break (THANKFULLY). Will add that to the list of things that still need attention. The cab fairings I found won't easily come off. They have been facing south for way too many years and all the fasteners are very rusted. It would be a 3 man job to remove them as a full unit and that might be pushing it a bit. Sure wish the crane on the tire service truck still worked. It could take the place of one person, maybe. Will discuss with my mechanic. I think filling in the space between the cab and drom would look better. Rod

Thank you. I found a "Volvo" number in my other truck and will be taking it to the parts store tomorrow. I'll give them your numbers too and see what we come up with. The truck had been in the shop getting a few things done, but it's back for a few days so I want to get them changed. Rod

On the Volvo it's too close to the windshield for me to get much leverage to twist the aluminum track to get it in the clip. The curtains hang deep into the "Defroster vent" area so the dash is pretty well protected with just the curtains. My "Reflectix" makes it even better. Rod

In my first truck the curtains didn't have many of the "Hooks". I could still use them and fashioned some of my own hooks after pricing the little ones from Volvo. WAY too much money for a bent wire, even if it was sharpened. The new to me truck had all the hooks, but the track was falling because of the broken "Plastic" clips. Found some replacements (Not the $3.00 each Volvo ones) $25 for 25 including shipping. They are exactly the same, except in white. Problem is the aluminum track has bent over the years of non support and trying to clip it into the clips was almost impossible on the passenger side, and so far is impossible on the drivers side. After several hours yesterday I quit. Was starting to get hot in the cab. I'll try in the fall when the temps are cooler, but not cold enough to make the clips brittle. If you are going try this, replace them one at a time. There is a small spacer behind the fabric that is not attached to it's spot. Got lucky and found the one that dropped out if here when I couldn't get the screw to go in. The spacer had turned sidewise and when I looked fell on the floor. Thankfully I found it and got it to stay long enough to get the screw started and secured. Rod

Rick, I also dislike the Skylight. In the Gold truck it was covered both inside and outside for a long time. No light would come in. I was used to it. Now with the white truck, I sometimes appreciate the "Natural" light in the sleeper area, but as soon as I start driving it more during the day, I'm sure it will be covered too. Rod

For my Volvo I cut a piece of "reflectix". I think it's a 48 inch wide(or tall) and I have folded over one edge to make it fit better. It's much better at blocking the sun than the "Privacy Screens, but I still close them behind the reflective insulation stuff. You will need a light inside for most things though. I've also cut pieces for the other windows and the "Skylight". Rod

The trade off's (there always seem to be trade off's) is a non Onan is often times much louder than a built in one, especially if it's large enough to power your entire rig. Sure a Honda/Yamaha or other small one's can be very quiet, but for me at least they wouldn't work because I need 220/240 volts for my Mini Split and hopefully soon to have induction cooktop. Last fall I purchased a dual fuel 240 volt capable GE model and found out while it will power everything in my rig during warm weather on a 20lb propane bottle, when temps are under freezing very much the propane flow won't keep up and the generator will die. It will start back up with the provided remote start and run for a bit again, but it was a night of very little sleep. The next day I put gasoline in it for the first time and it ran fine for hours and it was still very cold. I might try getting a larger bottle to see if it was a fuel issue vs a amperage issue. The peak output drops significantly between gas and propane. Propane doesn't go bad in the tank like gas sometimes will though. Rod

That looks like the one for the cab. The sleeper one is much larger but not as thick. Rod

How many of you have changed them and how often? I remember changing the one in the sleeper compartment in my 2001 when I first got it and remember thinking about it a few times after, but never remembering to pick one up when I visited a dealer or parts store. When I was going through the new to me 2000 I remembered to check them both and have attempted (without success so far) to find replacements. According to the "Parts supplier, a couple mechanic shops and one Volvo parts place" the filters in their computers or books are not the one's in my truck. I'm attaching a photo. Filter and box the new one (according to the book) came in. Knew it wouldn't fit so didn't open the box. Below is the location of said Cab filter. Don't have a photo of the "Sleeper" filter under the right bench of the dinette seating. One of my mechanics was surprised to find on there. Apparently the Paccar trucks they like to work on don't have them. If anyone has a similar size cab filter and can provide a part number I'd appreciate it. I'm striking out so far. I recently saw a "Window" unit that was similar to a mini split. Had the indoor and outdoor unit but used the window to separate with I'm assuming the transfer tubes and electric the only thing passing through the small section where the window could be almost closed between. Sure they are made for Sticks and brick type homes and the "sash" windows, but I'm sure most on this site could "Make something work". If I find the article I'll link it here later. Rod

Checked on the truck today at the shop. The cab airbags and shocks are off, the exhaust is in the process of getting renewed with a return to a single stack. I have two Gen 1 Volvo's in the local area where I can get some parts from. My Gold 770 and a Brown 760. The support and exhaust stack came from the brown one and I plan to remove a portion of the cab fairings to see if they will work on the White truck (that I recently discovered used to be sort of purple). I took a photo of the door sticker and noticed it didn't say "White". Sure looks like it was a white truck to me, then I started looking a little closer. The did an awesome job in the paint booth. Didn't do the fire wall or under the cab, but everything else has a good coverage in white. I took some pictures today and will upload and post soon. Rod

If you haven't changed the oil soaked harness to the ecm, I'm betting it's the culprit. Not an inexpensive fix. Similar to what SuiteSuccess just went through. Mine was a couple of summers ago. Rod

I'm hoping the Forum remains. I will admit I got off for a while and did the FB thing, but it just got out of hand. Too many other topics and comments on EVERYTHING. Has anyone tried this? I have a Citizen Dive watch that I really like, but every two years it has to go in for a $150 to $200 dollar battery change and service in addition to the $600+ I paid for it many years ago. I've replaced it twice, once for being stupid and putting it in an attached bag to a suitcase checked with an Airline. (Attached bag never made it to the destination and since I didn't put a tag on it no responsibility by airline). Second time I thought I could just change the battery at a Kiosk in the Shopping Mall (Remember Shopping Malls?). Seal didn't work, got wet and when I finally sent it in it was said to be unrepairable. They did give me a discount on a replacement Citizen, but I hated it. Found my third replacement a few years ago (I guess two since I sent it in a month ago for the battery service and it's still not back yet.)They did say it's in good shape and should be done soon. I first saw the watch in Hawaii in 1990 and really wanted one. Too expensive there and I was spending most of the money I made on the Islands. Did find one in South Florida and made the purchase in the late 1990's. Probably had the first one for 9 years, second one for just a few because of the leak issue and without one for many years until one of my friends suggested looking on eBay. Sure enough found one in New condition and it even had the yellow Air Tank like the first one I saw in Hawaii. I haven't needed it since I sent it in, but I do miss it. Have looked at the dezl every time I get an email from Garmin that they are having a sale. It's $399 right now and I'm really tempted. My younger brother drove OTR for many years. When I got my truck he said not to use Blue Beacon and I didn't for a long time, then one year I left the upper Midwest in a snow and ice event and traveled through a lot of slushy roads. I tried to stop at a couple of my prior wash locations, but the timing wasn't right. There was a Blue Beacon very near my destination and I stopped. Told them no "Acid" but apparently the message didn't get through to the ones actually doing the wash. It sure looked nice for a couple of days, but before I left the next spring. I had nothing but a chalk color and it would easily transfer to anything that touched it. Same thing happened again at a wash location near where my home was built. I'd used it multiple times with no issues. Of course I always said no acid, except for the last time. I've done lots of things to correct and a young man spent hours on the trailer last year at the HDT Rally. I'll probably have them do it again this year. It didn't fix it all, but at least I can walk by without getting it on my clothing or hands. Rod

Be sure to ask them not to use the Citrus Acid. It ruins a clear coat very quickly. Rod

I might, will see how things look when I get it cut off and if the parts I have will work. I'm planning to mount the box that was on the side of the other truck at the back. It has a fold down door, so that would get in the way of a receiver hitch. It's too big to have the hitch below it. I maybe could put it on the side behind the tires and get a matching one for the other side to leave the middle open. Need to start collecting cardboard to make some models. I'd do only one receiver, but would have something on each side to minimize the wobble Rick mentioned. Rod

It will have to drop at least $50 per month to match my current unlimited Verizion that has been very good for me. I tried one of the "New" Verizon plans with a new phone, but found the speeds slower and had a near daily reminder that I was "Out of Data" after 8 days of my typical use. I still want one of the new "Fold" phones and will use it for my GPS in everything. It's coming with me anyway. I'll wait for a bit and see what the Fold 5 holds since the Pixel seemed to miss the mark. I liked the Fold 4, but not $1800 worth of like. Rod
