  1. In most places animals usually are transported in a trailer or the non human occupied portion of a truck. My question was for the people with cat's and their experience. Those who don't live in a home on wheels know how traumatizing it can sometimes seem to be to transport your feline to and from a Vet appointment, an occasional "Boarding" or what ever else requires you to load up the kitty. My next trip I will set up a camera in the trailer where I think they will hide out during the trip and record their reactions (I hope). I know first hand that they really don't like the truck running, even when in the "house". It takes them a minute to come out and see who is in the house if I go out, start the truck and come back in for a bit. On the days I arrive home on the motorcycle, Jeep or Isuzu they are waiting at the door when I open it. I'm not sure which one gets truck "sick" but I've found evidence of someone not liking the ride twice in the truck. Nothing so far in the trailer after their 4 hour ride several weeks ago. Thank you again for the replies and comments. Rod
  2. Composting toilet, no chemicals. Don't mix the liquid with solids and the only odor is the Strong Ammonia odor if you let the liquid sit for too long. Vinegar will eliminate most of that except when you empty the liquid container. Both can easily be disposed of without adding a "Lot of Water". I'm getting close to a year of doing this and 9 months with the brand of "Composting Toilet" I was able to see in person before the purchase. Rod
  3. Vern, If you have that pump, I'd just put it in deep and pump to a clear vessel. You will be able to see if there is water in it after it settles. Depending on how full the tanks are just adding treatment might help. Could the "Black Blobs" be "Algae"? I went up and read a bit of the earlier posts. If it were me, I'd drain the tanks and find a good place to burn the fuel without it having to go through injectors. Sure you might be able to buy enough filters and pumps and stuff, but in the long run I think the least expensive is to just drain, clean and before your next trip refill. Rod
  4. Remember what happened to the Caravan? Rental truck or two trips might have been better. Hope there isn't the same squat then you get it unloaded. Rod
  5. It's a WGen9500DF 9500 Watts Running on Gasoline with peak of 12500 Watts 8500 Watts on Propane with peak of 11200 Watts Was going from memory on previous post. This is from the book. Rod
  6. I bought a Westinghouse this winter. The smallest one that has 120/240 Volt 50 amp plug on it. It's a dual fuel and I think will work fine this summer with my Mini Split if I need it. My plan was to only run on propane unless I knew it would be running for along time. Found out that won't work at 12 degrees. Didn't plan on being in such cold weather this spring, but you know what happens. The unit started up and ran fine for about 30 minutes on propane and then it would die. I got in at 10 pm so I restarted it a couple times overnight and then got some gasoline to put in it. Solved the problem. Ran fine for a few hours powering the Mini Split making heat and 3 resistance electric heaters. I think the max is 9500 on propane and 12000 with gas. Not sure it the cold affected the ability of a 1/2 full 20lb propane tank to supply enough gas or not. I'll try it out again the next time it gets cold, but will have a full tank and see how long it will run. The unit is not the quietest, but my 2 Honda 2000's won't generate the 240 volts I need. They certainly are much more quiet. Rod
  7. I used the Gorilla brand "Duck" tape for almost a year on a window that shattered but stayed in place. Too months to get the window but then I couldn't find anyone willing to assist with the replacement. It's not a one person two hands job for sure. Finally made it back to the "Factory" to have it put in. Had paid them to ship it to me when it arrive there. Should have left it in their hands. I'm lucky I didn't break it before they could put it in. Rod
  8. Going to visit the T-Mobile store in the next few days and most likely will try out one of their plans. I'm currently in a Grandfathered Verizon plan that has served me very well until recently and I'm not sure why it's causing me troubles now. Another thing that I noticed with a recent trip to visit my youngest daughter(who has an iPhone). Her Mother, friends and such can always tell where she is. I'm not sure how it works, but with her recently being the next door neighbor to the majority of the news reports regarding the Tornado in Norman, OK. I'd like to have the option of at least knowing where her phone is too. I'm sure I'll have to have an iPhone and she will have to grant me access to her locations. I've also become accustomed to the Android Auto in my Jeep. The Jeep is parked for a bit and my other vehicles are much older. I'm thinking of upgrading the head unit in both the truck and VehiCross and hope I can get a similar model in both and maybe move a screen from one to the other depending on which one is being used. Not sure yet if that's even possible. As you can see I have fallen for the Advertisements from T-Mobile even when I hardly ever turn on a TV and do not listen to commercial radio ever. Thanks in advance for any comments, suggestions or feedback. Rod
  9. Maybe another one will come around soon. Good luck, Rod
  10. Looked a bunch of Raptor's, but never found the one I wanted to spend money on. I looked at a ton of toy haulers before buying the Weekend Warrior. My 2013 Spacecraft will most likely out last me. It's big and heavy and far from perfect, but once all the "RV" stuff wears out the rest of the trailer will last and last. I've slowly replaced much of the stuff you find in all "RV'S". Toy haulers are typically made for the weekender who takes their toys out and spends most of their time out using them and maybe sleeping in the trailer overnight to do it all again for a little bit before heading home to park it till the next time. If that's your plan find one in your budget and have fun. Rod
  11. I had a 2007 I think. Bought it used in Utah. It lasted about 3 years of full time use. Ramp door didn't hold up at all, Kitchen slideout not made to have anything in it despite having lots of cabinets. Was my first Toyhauler and I learned a lot from it. Rod
  12. Rocky, Good to see you posting again. Rod
  13. Welcome, Lots of things to consider and there will be trade offs as they say. It all depends on your mission profile, what you want to do, where you want to go and such. I'm going out on a limb and thinking you may be in the South East, Florida maybe. Worst thing about Florida is the heat and heat on tires. Make sure you have the proper inflation and always have a full size spare. It does not take much to get to the top of your payload quickly. I went the other way and got a big truck and a payload on my trailer that I'll never go over. It's my home on wheels though. I'm thinking you will just be doing weekends for now. Remember the sales people are trying to make the sale and will tell you what you want to hear, not what may be safest thing for you. Good luck with your search and purchase and come back to let us know how it goes. Rod

    When to stop fixing?

Here's a follow up to the above photo and issue. Arrived in Norman, OK, made sure my daughter was OK and then called the Eaton hotline and they suggested an electrical problem was causing the issue. I asked who was the best transmission place in the OKC area and when they heard it was in a Volvo they immediately chose the Volvo dealer. I'd much rather have gotten a smaller transmission shop, but no luck. Took the truck to the dealer, showed the photos of the error screens and told them all about it. Two days later I rode to the shop because I had heard nothing from them. They blamed it on my incorrectly copied down email address. They had my phone number too, but I wouldn't allow them to "Text" it. Anyway they gave me an estimate for almost $4000 to replace a wiring loom and the X-Y shifter. I asked how they determined and the reply was "We entered in the information you supplied and that's what our computer system says to do." I had asked them to just unplug, check and clean the connections and let me know if there was any obvious issues. Cost me $400 for that diagnosis and estimate. I'll hopefully find someone to do what I asked and go from there. Once the connections are apart it shouldn't be an issue replacing the loom. The truck shifts fine if left in Auto mode and I'm not trying to force shifts. If I do anything I think it would be going to a manual other than the 10 speed. I could never smoothly shift that transmission on any test drives before buying the Auto shift. A 13 speed was no issues, just not the 10. I've made it to my summer spot. Drove through a pretty good snow storm in North Central Missouri in I 35. Pulled off in Osceola, IA. and added some fuel in case I had to sit for a while, but when I headed East the roads got better and better. Made it to my destination before it got bad here. Truck needed a boost to start the next morning at 10 degrees, but the transmission found neutral right off. Someday I'll find the reason. On another note. Visited a person who was the neighbor of my Mothers parents. She and her husband belonged to the "Saddle Club" and she was a substitute teacher during my elementary school years. I visited her today and wished her Happy Birthday. On March 4, 2023 she turned 106. That photo was taken when she was still 105. She hasn't changed a bit. Rod
  15. Thanks for the recent replies. It turned out that my initial mobile "Neat" scanner was the scanner I used to scan into Picasa and it still works. I had upgraded to an autofeed Neat and it's a pain. I'm still using Picasa for storage editing and such on my PC. Rod
  16. If you can fit in the spot without damaging the ground around where you are supposed to be parking, I don't know what they can say about putting a 34 ft. RV in s spot for a 30. Just my opinion. Rod
  17. Depending on the bike, you have options. I helped my metal fabricator cousin put together a frame and "Dolly" that would pull the front wheel up with a winch. I bought a Harbor Freight front wheel stand, added wheels and we made a frame to fit inside my drom box. It worked on my 2013 Yamaha FJR 1300 and my 2015 BMW R1200RT. Won't work on my 2007 Honda Goldwing, so I have been lucky enough to find a loading dock to pull up along side. Loading docks are getting harder and harder to find these days. Especially ones out in the open where you don't "HAVE TO" back into them. I'll try and post a link to all the photos I can find trying to do the same thing since 2015. Good Luck, Rod First time loading GL1800 in box from loading dock.
  18. I visited Tucson once, but never bought tires. Sorry. My vote is a busy shop that isn't part of the "Discount Tire" or other huge reseller group. Keep small business in operation and we will all be better off in the long run. Rod

    Tire Monitor

I'll add a third vote. My issue was with an inside tire on my truck showing low. I stopped put the gauge on it and yes it was a bit low until I pulled the gauge off and then the valve core would not reseat. Fancy aluminum wheels didn't have large enough holes in them for me to get my valve core tool in to replace it so the tire completely deflated. Expensive service call where they had to remove the outside tire to replace the valve core and air it back up. (Never went low again). As soon as I got to my destination, traded the aluminum for steel and got rid of all the monitors. I did put Crossfires on several years ago and have to just walk by to see if they are within range. I still put a gauge on them before any major trip. Rod
  20. Congrats, please post your progress. Many have thought about it, but only a few have actually done. Traction on Ice is never good. My plan is to stay put unless something really important changes said plan. Be sure to check the dates on the tires. They may look really good, but maybe as old as the rig depending on how many miles are on it. My initial thoughts this morning. Rod
  21. Well the time in the trailer was much longer than expected, but the same amount of time moving. Couldn't get the Autoshift to find neutral until 0300 this morning when I checked it for what turned out to be the last time. Checked the cats in the trailer several times over the night (each time I turned the key and hoped for a green "N" instead of a flashing red indicator. They would look at me when I opened the door and a couple time when I sat in the kitchen they would come out for attention. They are busy exploring again with the slides out and seem none the worse for the trip. I will for sure bring them into the truck if I'm doing more than a 12 hour drive with an overnight potential stop. I missed them when I was sleeping in the truck as I do when I can't make it from exit to set up in one day. I'm in my new spot for about a week and then another 4 to 5 hour trip for a day or two and another 4 to 5 hours till I get to the Spring/early Summer spot. Rod One night I was wondering who was lying on my leg. Turned out to be both. rl
  22. Yesterday for the first time I didn't move the cats to the truck when I was doing some things getting ready for the long move today. They seemed OK with it. Sure, once the slides started to close they found hiding places and pretty much stayed there, Once all the stuff was done (about an hour and a half later) and I was parked again I put the slides back out and very soon they came out to explore the Jeep (which was now in the garage). They love sitting on it looking out the windows in the garage, they can't see those windows except for the one that climbs the inversion table and get's it balanced so she can look out. Apparently where I have it set for my height works pretty well with her weight too. So, I'm moving about 3 hours today, but before that I'm spending a couple hours parked in a parking lot. It's cool today so I'm not worried about the heat in the truck as much as the cool. It's 43 degrees now with a projected high of 50. Perfect day for me and I'm pretty sure there is a warm spot in the truck for them to hide. The trailer does seem to hold it's temperature for much longer though. I've decided I'm going to try it today to the event. If they come out to me when I check them before leaving I'll gather them and take them to the truck for the 3 hour ride, if not I'll stop once and check before arriving. Wish I would have thought of this earlier and could have watched for some replies. I'm finishing up on the last minute prep and the computer will be going down soon. I don't access the forum on my hand held device. Rod
  23. I drove by a T-Mobile Store on Friday, almost stopped and might when I get to my summer spot. I'll do a dual phone thing for a while and see how it goes, just need to get 4 friends or family to get the best price EH? How many others have switched from Verizon (or another) to T-Mobile? Rod
  24. I don't know for sure but I think that's what you have to do. There should be no change in alignment of the tires, unless some sort of spacer is used and I don't think I'd recommend that. Rod
  25. I certainly would not want to put a suction device on a city water source, you never know what could be sucked loose in some of those maybe 100 year old pipes, or maybe the reason for the low pressure is a leak and you are drawing stuff that has escaped back into the system. There is a reason for the "Boil Water Order" when a water main breaks. Rod
