    National Rally 2023

https://nationalhdtrally.org/ The above link has some information regarding the rally. It's also where registration might be for the 2024. Don't use to register for 2023, it's over and done. Someone will be working on it to bring some of the photos and such to it also. Rod

    National Rally 2023

One of these days I hope to come across a photo (if someone will email it to me!) and I will post it here. I didn't climb all the stairs to get to the top of the Grandstand. Did it once several years ago and then had to run back down to get into the group photo. Maybe I'll learn to photoshop myself into them. Not! Some of those who still check the forum are still on Facebook and maybe could post here. It is more work. If I had a better memory with names I could possibly send you to a YouTube channel where a video or two may be available. Attending the actual event is much more fun than just looking at photos, but I agree photos are better than not being there and not having a photo or two to see. Rod
  3. Not an expert, but I also have a Grandfathered Verisign plan with unlimited data. Never used a "Jetpack" but just tethered my phone to the computer either with a cable, Bluetooth or WIFI which seems to be the best. I think it would be OK. I have bought many phones off of Ebay as I upgrade to the newer models. Tried T-Mobile and a new plan with Verizon with out releasing my old plan and both failed very quickly with the stuff I take for granted with the old plan. Will try AT&T this month to see if their salesperson in Des Moines, IA was honest in his claim. Couldn't find the same info on line and a "Store" wasn't very close to my summer location. I'll be in the Norman/OKC area this winter. Rod

    National Rally 2023

This years rally is coming to an end. It was once again a fun, educational and very much enjoyable week. A surprise this year came to the organizers but didn't seem to faze them. A Wedding was scheduled in the same space for Friday night. Some of the attendees were kind enough to include me in their "Selfie". The Father and the Bride dance. Room for Smart car and Motorcycle. Owners designed and sewed the bright yellow cover and tell me there is also a two piece hand made "Quilt" under the cover to keep the bike warm and safe. Notice anything about this Jeep? RVSEF will be busy today after breakfast weighing the rigs as they depart. Will try to get some photos and video of the process if anyone is interested. Hope the Friday the 13th was good to all. Sad that it's going to be overcast for the partial Eclipse of the Sun today. Rod

One of the late arrivals. Not a late arrival, but finally got a chance to walk around. Why would they put it in a compartment????? For ease of Service. Smart Idea Cole!!!!!!! Not that they so far need much. Modern Cooking with a Vintage touch. Cook Books from my Mother's collection. Should I or shouldn't I? That is the question, and the final photo of today. Friday the 13th I see. Rod

Got to get to the Kitchen to flip the pancakes so that's it for this morning. It's been a great rally, lots of new folks and a Whole lot of vehicles in the photo shoot as you might see. I didn't climb to the the top of the Grandstand and that's where the Official Photo was taken. Have seen a few views and it's impressive. Rod

Some important work in Rogers roof. Mini Split for Truck A/C going down the road. After talking to the Owner I understood it more. Before After, same corner just got a little closer. First time in a Motorhome, 12 Prior Rally's in first rig, second rig occupants have attended 18 rally's. That's all for today. Rod
  8. A guy parked next to me at the HDT Rally has a Mini Split 12 volt added to the back of his Volvo. He either said $500 or $700 installed a few years ago, and it works great. A/C went out in the truck and instead of $XXXX he went with $XXX. I'll post a photo of it later. (The ODU). He commented that the Mr. Cool is similar and with their "Charged" lines an easier install. May won't to add that to the Pro/Con list. Rod
  9. Yea, I don't want to get into that FB thing again, so it will stay on that one computer. Thanks for the comment and suggestion. Rod Darryl&Rita, Thanks for the comment and suggestion too. See above. Rod

    National Rally 2023

Ok, my date was off. It felt like a Sunday yesterday morning, but clearly it was not. The official Start of the Rally is today at noon. The early arrivers were allowed early check in and are now in possession of their name tag, T-shirt or shirts and the latest schedule. They were also given a sneak peek at the Auditorium which will be utilized this year for many of the seminars. I attended the Car Show in downtown Hutch and found this lovely. She didn't win the contest, but it was a panel of 4 judging and not a "Popular" vote. Visited with "Steve" and got a tour of the "Shop". If you get the chance it's quite an interesting building and equipment. Lots of new people here this year, several LGT's and some very nice New Trucks. Finally a shout out to Warren. Once again he is Mr. Fix it for many at the rally. Restoring heat for those who suffered with no heat on the coldest night so far. Providing a Movie to be viewed last night in the Auditorium "Ford vs Ferrari" and for getting the Huge White Tarp to show it on. Almost filled the entire stage. I took a video, but apparently not a still photo. Will see if I can post a link to the video. Looks like it's here. Rod
  12. Got a friendly local plumber? They sometimes use scopes, there are tool scopes that might be rentable at one of the parts stores, and I remember seeing something that could attach to an iPhone at one time, but it was a long time ago and not available for an android at that time. Good luck and let us know what and where you find something. Rod

    National Rally 2023

GOOD MORNING, The 2023 National HDT Rally will officially start in just a few seconds, minutes or hours , depending on when the attendees start getting out of their rigs and start heading to the building. I was out early this morning to catch the "Frost" on my Jeep and took a few more photos. Several rigs were seen by me on my search for "Steve's" shop. I found it and hope to visit it today. I also fulfilled my visit to 650 feet underground and took the Salt Mine tour yesterday. Steve (the rally leader) informed me that there are some interesting new things this year. In addition to the 100 expected Rigs and 220 expected guests, we will now be using the Auditorium for some of the seminars. There apparently is a stage and sound system, not sure if the seating is padded yet, but that would be a big plus. Found a nice little Candy shop/Grocery and produce store down by the "Steve's" shop location that I will visit again called "Smith's". Thanks Steve. OK, I know you are all just wanting to look at photos and not having to read my drivel so here they come. Rod The frost. Lot's of Solar on that Full House.

Ok, that's it for today. Cooler and windy this morning. A few rain drops while taking some photos, but I think it will be sunny this afternoon. Rod

I didn't see your rig last night, but as I think about it this morning I don't think I've seen your new rig and was looking for the old one. Are you all by yourself on the NE? Rod
  17. Kirk, My first trailer had roof tops. I chose to have nothing on my roof with my custom build. I was told the Basements were more quiet and would preform well. I saw a few in Motorhomes in my earlier searches and the Owners said they were great (they were also trying to sell the Motorhome to me.) The unit never worked well. It was quieter and if the temperatures were not too extreme it was tolerable and then it broke and was non repairable. I still didn't want "Holes cut into my roof" so I chose to go the Mini Split at around 10K installed as a retrofit (more costly). I don't know what the price difference is on a new build. Rod
  18. I've waited to respond for a while. I had to replace my HVAC unit after a very short life. It wasn't a Roof Top model, but a "Basement" unit, but since I upgraded to an LG Mini Split system. I have much less power use, 90% quieter most of the time and so far several years of trouble free use. I think they are getting to be a standard for both New Horizons and Spacecraft semi custom and full custom builders in the Midwest. Contact them to be sure. Rod
