  1. There must be a very good reason for staying inside a building in an upper Midwest winter! Why not go somewhere warmer and sunnier? Sounds depressing to me. We're from Michigan.
  2. We had a 40' motorhome and had absolutely no difficulty with campgrounds.
  3. Note: I just looked up the state park web site and it states they now have electric in Loop A for an additional $10 over the $15 camping fee. Also, due to drought conditions the lake may be very low or even dry. It's been like that in years past. It's still first-come. I hope you can get a site! http://parks.nv.gov/parks/washoe-lake
  4. Here's an excellent review with photos of Washoe State Park. Do you have a generator? https://www.wheelingit.us/2011/10/29/sp-campground-review-washoe-lake-state-park-carlson-city-nv/
  5. It would not be allowed when there was a wood fire ban.
  6. I would think they'd know better than us as to why they used the engine. 😁
  7. Yes, you can drive it during the day and weekends. If driving it Labor Day weekend here's the schedule. https://www.us50info.com/
  8. Agreed. It's so much easier to sitesee in a car than in a RV. Towing 4-down is a lot easier than a carrier. After you do it a few times the car can be hitched up in under 10 min.... 5 min for us. However, not all cars can be towed 4-down. Depending on the year of the car you have in mind there are towing guides out there for every year in the past. Buying a used car is your best bet. New models able to tow 4-down are getting more difficult to find. Here is one for 2020 models: https://images.goodsam.com/newmotorhome/towguides/DinghyGuide2020.pdf
  9. I know you asked about clothes but there are other lists you need to make. Lots of suggestion 'lists' on the internet and here is one to begin. Add/delete to fit your circumstances. https://www.campanda.com/magazine/rv-checklists-printable/
  10. For Storage - this is how we did it. Hall closet where it was plumbed for washer/dryer but we never wanted one installed: From WalMart - a plastic 2-shelf set on floor for our shoes. Above were coats. Still room for misc. non-clothing items on top of the 2 shelves & a full tall space on the side of the 2-shelves for vacuum, broom. Rear closet - his & hers side for shirts & long pants over a hanger. Bedroom has 6 drawers for underwear, socks, shorts, extra set of sheets, towels Under the bed was my hoard of travel information! 😉 I had large manilla envelopes for each state and also a collection of Benchmark atlases for the western states. I'm a big travel planner and like 'paper' more than the internet. (We didn't have to worry about the extra weight for our motorhome.) Also stored were a couple extra blankets & bedding for the 'guest' sofa.
  11. Exactly! Unless they left a note "from Green people" you wouldn't know why a RV was vandalized. Vandalization has been going on forever with RVs, cars, buildings, etc.
  12. I don't do Facebook so can't open your link.
  13. Surprisingly, you can see them right in the middle of Phoenix along 101 between 87 and Shea Rd.. It's the Salt River Indian Reservation in that corner. Also nearby in the Tonto Nat'l Forest. We've also seen them south of Tucson on the San Xavier Indian Reservation. Also, a little north of Delta, UT when 4-wheeling. We were hiking a little east of Reno, NV and saw some. It is so neat to see them running free with their manes & tails flying!
  14. I just saw this video and thought some ideas may be of interest to you. Good luck with your build! https://www.rvtravel.com/video-vet-builds-unbelievable-super-stealth-rv-fedex-truck-conversion-1931/
  15. Whats a "b.c."? We have a supplement. We have never paid a co-pay or medical bill and we've have surgeries and cancer. Would never do without a supplement. Hospital bills run into many, many thousands.
  16. We were full-timers, mostly boondockers/or dry campgrounds. Went to laundramat every 10-14 days. Therefore we had lots of underwear and socks.... changed daily. Pants/shorts/shirts were worn more than a day.... until they were noticeably dirty. We weren't in humid areas so no sweaty issues.... just dirt. 😉 We layered which eliminates having many heavy shirts/sweaters. Shoes: hiking, tennis, sandals We never had occasion to wear a suit or dress or dress shoes. Nylon rain parka. We did carry a heavier jacket for bitter days since we were in the mountains a lot. Gloves and hats.

  18. I'm convinced rock chips on the towed vehicle/windshield occurs with the stiff mud flap some have on the rear of their motorhome. We only had the stiff flaps behind each tire and nothing across the rear. We didn't get any rock chips on the front or hood of our Jeep in 8 yr., including an all-summer trip to Alaska where it's necessary to travel for long stretches of gravel on parts of the Alaskan Hwy. In fact, we pulled into a park in Whitehorse and saw a few owners removing that big flap. We talked to them and were told it sent rocks flying on their toad's hoods and windshields. We looked at their toads. Indeed, there was a layer of large stones laying at the base of their windshields. We had just driven the same highway and we didn't receive any damage and no rocks on our windshield. After the trip and coming down through Salt Lake City in pouring rain, I began observing motorhomes towing in the lanes heading in the opposite direction. Those with the big mud flap had a stream of water arcing up to their hoods. Those without the flaps had the water aimed at their tires. We started our Alaskan trip from Arizona with a large angled crack received previously from a rock tossed by a semi truck into our Jeep's windshield while driving the Jeep. We purposely didn't get it repaired because of hearing horror stories of the Alaskan trip. We returned to Arizona with the same crack and absolutely no more damage on our Jeep or motorhome.
  19. I found this: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/public/shingrix/index.html#:~:text=If you had shingles in,gone away before getting vaccinated. Reading a little farther beyond the highlighted sections.... it reads "You should not get Shingrix if you currently have shinges." Another article by the CDC states the same for Zostavax.
  20. Thank you. I 'think' I have it solved although I don't know why. I uninstalled AdBlockPlus - had to remove the extension separately after uninstall. cleared cookies, turned computer off/on, installed the plain AdBlock (not Plus) and now it works. Computers sure are fussy!
  21. That was a very nice, thoughtful reply from someone who has gone through what you have. Thank you!
  22. After towing our Jeep for 8 yr. I would never consider towing on a dolly. 4-down is so easy and takes less than 15 minutes to get the car ready to tow or to disconnect. It's a very easy process. As others stated, what to do with the dolly or enclosed trailer when you get there? Here are some articles that may help: https://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/what-cars-can-be-flat-towed-behind-an-rv.html https://familyrvingmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/2021-TowingLineup-FRV0121.pdf https://images.goodsam.com/newmotorhome/towguides/DinghyGuide2020.pdf The Chev Equinox/Terrain is a very, very comfortable car with good ease of getting in/out.
  23. Amazing that you would admit this on a forum. When returning to TX you have 3 days to get an inspection. https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/vehicle-inspection/faq/general-inspection#:~:text=Motorist Out-of-State When, will be permitted to register.
  24. Not so. Mosquitoes are in the desert areas right now. It's monsoon season. https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/epidemiology-disease-control/mosquito-borne/mosquitoes-of-az/index.php#:~:text=Mosquitoes can be active year, testing the mosquitoes for viruses. https://www.azcentral.com/story/travel/arizona/2021/11/04/mosquito-facts-west-nile-virus-what-do-they-eat/6242004001/
