  2. Specific large groups at Quartzsite during the RV Show the last 2 weeks of January would be your best bet for what you want: meeting up with old friends, new meetings, daily life, activities. I'd recommend the very active Escapees Boomers group who have a gathering of 100+ at Quartzsite https://member.escapees.com/community/bofs/boombof.aspx or the Escapees Xscapers group which will be at Quartzsite & also Lake Havasu Citys. You could also add a different dimension to this full-timing group as many of them work while traveling. https://xscapers.com/xscapers-community/convergences/
  3. This may help: https://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/about/faqs/ Also, do a Google of 'parking near the River Walk' & many suggestions appear.

  6. We are very familiar with Tucson. I'd recommend mid to the end of April for your visit. Other than saguaros, the desert is in full bloom from February to late April - some things begin even earlier and last later. You'll want to see other things in bloom, also. If saguaros are on your bucket list they 'usually' bloom the last 2 weeks of April until July. It depends on winter rains or freezes. So far, Tucson has had nice rains, including today. They don't burst into bloom all at once. They open a few at a time and only last a day or two. I think you'll be surprised by the size of the bloom. They aren't as large as pictures sometimes show. However, a bunch opening around the same time is gorgeous. It's a beautiful sight whenever you can see them bloom. Tour both areas of Saguaro Nat'l Park - east and west. The terrain looks completely different. Hiking is awesome! Note... there's no camping in either section of the park. Catalina State Park would be a great place to stay or Tucson Mtn. Park right next to Saguaro West. You will encounter warmth the last 2 weeks of April but it's 'dry heat' 😄 so not as noticeable as being in a humid area.... really. May temps begin to rise. I wouldn't recommend visiting beyond the middle of May. May & June are the hottest before the summer monsoon rains begin in July. The Sonoran Desert is beautiful!
  7. We never use a debit card. Have two credits cards..... one is used for AutoPays only. The other only for purchases. If the one used for purchases gets compromised..... and hasn't in 15 yr. or so...... the AutoPays are always safe. Works for us!
  8. I'm a avid pickleball player and I'm surprised they put the courts right in the middle of RV sites. The constant ball/paddle noise wouldn't be good for us. Keep that in mind when choosing sites.
  9. I see them on all the posts. All you have to do is double click.
  10. Reasonable rate with a pool and pickleball courts? Good luck! Have you looked into the Escapees park in Sumter Oaks or the Escapee co-op park in Wauchula? https://fl-skp-resort.org/ https://sumteroaks.escapeesrvparks.com/
  11. .... but the agent stated "changing the location". The problem was "pre-existing condition clause".
  12. We used a propane heater for 16 years. Never at night... but then, we like a cold room for sleeping. On a cold, rainy day we would leave it on all day. We always cracked a couple windows and had CO and propane detectors. The propane line ran to our main tank. We absolutely loved the constant warmth of the heater vs a furnace.
  13. Please don't use moth balls!! https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/mothball-toxicity-in-dogs#:~:text=Mothballs contain a high concentration, can harm pets and people.
  14. That video is awesome. They are so smart. Here's another video using the string lights. They don't work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVN9JXUJXdY
  15. Didn't use anything and didn't have a problem.
  16. Are you saying you wanted to design your own?
  17. Just Google for ads. You easily pull them down just using an awning hook. https://www.amazon.com/RV-Window-Awnings/s?k=RV+Window+Awnings https://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/products/sl-window-awning/
  18. I would highly recommend window awnings. We used them all the time. You can see out of them and at a distance just fine. We had double pane. They also help when it rains to let you open the window, if you want fresh air. They are so easy to put in or out... seconds. For the big windshield we had a solar screen that attached on the outside thereby blocking the sun or cold before it hit the window. We could see out just fine.
  19. Scroll down this site a little to 'Key Findings'. Where you are now - Galveston - is high on crime. Pick any place in the U.S. and it has crime. How many stories have you read of border crossers committing crime? They didn't travel all that way to commit crimes. You're probably safer along the border than in any big city. https://www.areavibes.com/galveston-tx/crime/ You mentioned Big Bend - it's safe. We've been there many times. Excellent hiking. It's a national park and has federal officers manning it. Nearby Lajitas and Terlingua are popular places to stay, also. I'd recommend a stop at Fort Davis State Park - neat area. Take a tour of the observatory! Have a good trip and put faith in mankind!
  20. I'd highly recommend southern AZ over NM. NM can get very cold all winter. AZ is cold right now during the days but this is unusual for days on end. Climate change??? Usually the sun warms temperatures nicely during the day. All deserts will be cold at night. The warmest places in winter would be the greater Phoenix area west to Quartzsite down to Yuma and west into California. Tucson is nice but a tad cooler than Phoenix.
  21. No worries. We're 25 mi from border. Stop reading the 'news'!! 😉
  22. All national parks have an excellent web site giving special alerts, construction delays, things to do and more. That is where you can monitor the Going to the Sun Road opening or reservations. https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/gtsrinfo.htm
  23. It does say 3 aluminum cupboards but doesn't show them. BUT.... it includes built-in pet bowls!!
  24. Where are you going that you're so paranoid? We boondocked 95% of the time and never had a concern like this.
