Mirror cover replacement

This was discussed at length several years ago.  A search may reveal answers, or perhaps someone with a better memory will remember the procedure.  I think it involved tipping the glass to the extremes to access the screws inside the housing.

Check you tube. The mirror parts has to be removed to get to the clips that hold the back in place. As I recall each mirror just has to be slid up to get out of the fasteners and they will come right out. Then you can access the 4 clips that hold the back on.

This one isn’t bad for the disassembly.  It covers disassembly in the first half or so.  I would advise the same as Brad, take the mirror glass off first, then proceed with the housing.

Another video details the mirror glass removal for an antenna repair.

Tilt each mirror up/forward as far as possible. One at a time.

Apply GENTLE pressure up with some GENTLE tapping up at the lower edge, just until the glass is up and loose.

Then tilt the glass down all the way. Then slide the glass up and off it’s mount.

This should help to be able to access the rest of the mounting screws.

Hope this helps.

I had one done in a shop in Lawton, OK. Mechanic said it was an easy fix, turned out to be more. I just had the black backing, but it was broke and rattling. I wasn't upset with the overall cost of all the repairs done, but cannot remember the split out for the mirror work.
