How to get seasicker

Can you believe it. We sat two 1/2 days and a full day in Kansas because of wind. Even had 2” of snow at 3 am one morning.

And now we may get seasick again. Someone told us to go to the mountains of South Carolina. You will enjoy it there. Yep they did. Well we have not been here or 24 hours. Now they say that it is going to get windy here and rain. Possible seasickness again.

Time to put the jacks down.

I guess seasicker is apparently not a real word.

The worst winds that I have ever driven in would be I80 between Laramie & Rock Springs Wy and most anywhere on I25 along the front range of the Roky Mountains.

We've driven that area several times in recent years, as DW's sister lives near Fort Collins and we've been exploring the Snowy Range, both winter and summer.  It can be tense driving even in the p/u with no trailer.

I-25 in Colorado I'd agree although we have had scary winds in Odessa TX in 1998, and coming out of OK City in '99 as the big tornado was approaching on I-40. We were just ahead of the front and fortunately outran it. We were going West and it was coming NE. That was our Alaska trip and we were heading to Grand Canyon, Vegas Salt Lake city then Yellowstone and Glacier as we followed the thaw that spring. We even drove the rig over Hoover Dam before that was banned. Also I-70 between the Springs and Salinas on the way to Louisiana winter quarters. ( I know why? Because - Family)

So far we mostly just had rain. A little wind.

Probably the worst wind I have driven in was going south past Salt Lake City. While driving I was turning as I was changing a lane to the right. But the road was actually turning left. But I followed the lane I was in while holding the steering wheel steady to the right.

I had to look at the steering wheel to make sure what was happening. So we found a Flying J and parked. Sat there for about 24 hours. There were a few 18 wheelers that did blow over during that event north of Salt Lake City.

We are sitting on top of a big hill. So flooding should not be a problem.

  Safe travels to all.

North out of Salt Lake is the worst we have seen.  Most of the traffic was crawling along, maybe 30mph.  An 18 wheeler passed and when he came back into our lane the trailer tires lifted about 8" and slowly drifted back down.  We took the next exit.

Yep, when one sees that tightens things up quickly.

Well I got country sick last night. Never heard of it before, but it did happen.

This happens when a younger person drives  fast on back country roads at night. Young person never drove these roads at night. But we wanted to get to small gathering of bluegrass pickers in a community building, 57 miles away.

We just ate, and off we go.     While there I started to feel good again. Told young person to take it slower on the way back. So he took another way back. The farther we went the faster he went.

  I am recovered this am.

Riding at night. A car I was never in. Or not driving.

And today we will go again. That may determine if riding at night on those roads caused the problem

"Real sea sickness'? Out at sea on a yacht with waves so big breaking over the boat that a number of times only the crews heads and the rigging were visible! Nighttime at sea away from land in a storm gives a whole new meaning to strong winds.

Mind you I have used my tacking skills a number of times on the roads.
