Sick Truck

We were running fine after getting fuel in NC. All of a sudden in Ohio she lost power and begin missing.  I don't six bottles of power service into it and it made a small difference. We limped it home and once pulling all filters and draining the davco we found algae     I've already run about 1000 gallons of fuel through this truck since the spring. Everything has run fine up to this point. It now is at the Volvo dealer in Defiance Ohio. There was an active code ( that I cannot recall the number )  that could not be cleared with the J Pro.  My mechanic told me it is a proprietary code for Volvo. So now we wait .... I've confidence in the dealership, I just know the bill will be large...

Had that problem. Wish I had caught your post sooner.  There is some stuff (technical term) in various truck supply stores that is made to kill algae. Can't remember the name right now, but it does work, Dump some in each fuel tank, sprinkle some on the tires, change the filters, and keep the filter wrench and some new filters handy because you will probably change multiple filters before this episode is over. Took me 2 days and 3 filters.  Then you need to maintain the stuff for a couple of tanks of fuel. I'll go find out what I used if you need to know.

Thanks Paul. Thanks for the info.  I seem to remember that at the ECR.  I think we have it working right now but we found a 1935 code witch is all the compunents are not " talking". Ended up being a connector under the drivers seat. And 6 new injectors

The Powerservice works fine. There is a Schaffer product that also works well. You need something SPECIFICALLY designed for algae and the bacteria. Regular fuel additive will not help. And an algaecide may not get the bacteria.

Hi Denver,

I hope you can get the problem fixed. I don't know if this would help. Does anyone know if you take a sample of your fuel from the tanks and take a look at it, can you tell if the fuel is contaminated ? I would take several sets of fuel filters with me for on the road.

I hope everything works out for you,
Al
