My name is Michael, my wife Licia and I have plunged into the HDT adventure together. We have purchased a 2006 VNL 780, D12 with Ultrashift.

We are very excited to get her ready for the maiden voyage for some R&R in June.

We would like some advice regarding a water leak into the sleeper on the passenger side of the truck. I am wondering if it is coming in along the roof seams on the upper fairing. It then seems to follow a path and come in above the upper passenger side bunk window.

The only place I can see that is a possibility above the windows are these seams, thoughts?

We have had a dry winter here in Florida, so I have not had any opportunity to diagnose it further.

Congratulations on the purchase.  I don't own a Volvo, so I can't point you to any possible starting points to find the leak, but I wanted to welcome you to the group.

I've chased down leaks on other vehicles and having one person work the hose and the other inside checking for leaks is the best way I've found. Can Licia or you safely get high enough to put water on the suspected leak points and see which one is the culprit?

  • 2 months later...

Found the leak alibg the seams along the roof where the center section meets the sides.  Caulked them after cleaning out the badly fatigued  original caulk..

Nice and dry now:)
