Receiving Mail at Sumter Oaks Escapees Park

Recommended Posts

We're spending February and March at the Escapees park in Bushnell, FL. We have a mail forwarding service that collects and forwards our mail to us wherever we happen to be. I understand the Escapees park in Bushnell does not accept mail for transient residents, so we can't have it forwarded there. I also could not find any UPS stores in Bushnell, and it looks like the post office has a 6 month minimum for renting a post office box. Has anyone stayed there and had mail delivered somewhere nearby? Do any of the post offices in nearby towns accept General Delivery mail?

General delivery to Bushnell, or one of the other towns around there?

To find out where to have General Delivery mail sent, go to www.usps.com.

On the left-hand side will be a drop-down menu. Select "Look Up A ZIP Code."

On the next page, in the "Street Address" field, type GENERAL DELIVERY, then type in the name of the City, select the State, click on "Find."

The next page will give you the +4 General Delivery Zip Code for that location (for Bushnell, it's 33513-9999).

I always go a step further and in the drop-down menu on the left-hand side, I select "Find USPS Locations." Under "Location Types," select "Post Office." Then, in the City, State, or ZIP Code field, type in the Zip Code you received in the previous step. You may receive several hits, but the main post office that accepts General Delivery mail is usually the first one. Click on the name of the town (Bushnell, in this case) and you'll be taken to a screen that has the PO's local telephone number. If it's a new PO that I haven't used before, I always call to verify that they do, indeed accept GD mail, if there are special hours for pickup and/or if there is a special location for pickup (some post offices want you to pick up GD at a window rather than in the main area, for example).

Wow, great information! Thanks LindaH! This is info that we will be able to use in our travels all over the country!

Not sure about your location but I am at the Benson Co-Op and the post office here told me that I can only use general delivery for one month. If you are going to be there several months verify that you can have general delivery for more than one month.
