bruce t
Just a curious observation. Sometime back these pages were full of comments on the Livingston WalMart. Open, closed, why? Well they closed and everyone discovered the local Brookshires and HEB. Today we visited the Brookshires. What a sad place. Car park was half empty, or half full!!! HEB wasn't much better. Yet the WalMart was the usual madhouse. So after all the hoha, hubba bubba, seems closing down their Livingston store hasn't gained any/much loyalty for the Brookshires and HEB. Or am I too naive to believe that WalMarts action would hurt their trade? Maybe our pocket dictates where we shop and not our hearts! regards
bigjim
I am sure cost is a factor but also convienence due to all the other items Walmart carries. Like fishing stuff and clothes and automotive, etc

Carolaow
Pocket wins for shopping. Heart wins for other stuff. Oh well. But interesting observation... thanks for posting and keeping us painfully honest! Full-timing and enjoying every minute. If there aren't any other options was this just a slow day at both stores? Or does everyone drive an extra 20-40 miles or whatever to find a Walmart? Kirk W
So after all the hoha, hubba bubba, seems closing down their Livingston store hasn't gained any/much loyalty for the Brookshires and HEB. Or am I too naive to believe that WalMarts action would hurt their trade? Maybe our pocket dictates where we shop and not our hearts! Not only do most of us buy where we think things are least expensive and most available, but we do all even when we claim to believe that the big box stores are conspiring against the small businessman! Very few people will spend anything extra to support what they say that the believe. But that is only part of the story. What ever happened to all of those folks who knew that the closing of those selected Walmart stores was somehow connected to the big military training program across the southwest that was about to take place and that those stores were about to become processing locations for local civilians in some great government conspiracy??? Those folks seem to be very quiet since the remodeled stores have been reopened.............. So if both Brookshires & HEB don't have many shoppers where is everyone going? If there aren't any other options was this just a slow day at both stores? Or does everyone drive an extra 20-40 miles or whatever to find a Walmart? They have returned to Walmart as it has now been remodeled, just as the management said it would be and it is open once more. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... Al F
So, has the Livingston Walmart reopened? It seemed like the OP is saying it was still closed, although it is not clear about whether or not it is open or closed. Al F
Well, I guess I answered my own question. Checked online and it looks like the Livingston store is open. It must be that the military exercises are over and the government allowed the store to reopen. oldcodger
IMO both Brookshire Brothers and HEB in Livingston could stand a facelift or a remodel. And I also ask as Kirk has stated, the conspiracy wingnuts have been real quiet. 2004 Volvo 630 left tandem with 12 speed Freedomline 2014 Sandpiper 35 ROK 42' fifth wheel Western Golf & Country Cart (EZ-GO frame)
DuffMan
They have returned to Walmart as it has now been remodeled, just as the management said it would be and it is open once more. Without the pesky union? Wasn't that one of the conspiracy theories as to the reason for the closing?
