Jeff We went with the Ruby Red so it pretty much matches the coach and went with the 2.7L Eco-boost. I drove all the engine options and for what we will use it for the 2.7 is perfect. Well perfect except I did like the 3.5 but didn't like the MPG difference. Actually I think I saw some time trial drags and the 2.7 was ding pretty darn good LOL!! Certainly is peppy. If I would have popped for the 3.5 we could have gotten a few more gadgets but not many and wasn't worth it to us. Once it gets here we need to have the bed-liner sprayed in and put the baseplate and brakes system in before rolling on. We will go tour some of the coast and Washington while we are waiting for it to show up. Wanderin
Heading back from Alaska today. We've been amazed at the number of cruise ships that dump the crowds into each little town. We've been "lucky" in that we've been in a couple towns when the most cruise ships possible can be in the port. It was estimated about 10,000 drop-offs were in Skagway and over 11,000 in Ketchikan ... Of course, that probably brings lots of dollars to the towns but not the Alaska you go to visit. We saw thousands lined up yesterday to board back on the ship. Terry said it's like herding cattle. Weather hasn't been great. We're glad it's been cool but the low lying clouds take away the scenic views. It's all about timing and I'm to blame for the timing. Not sure I'll get Terry back to Alaska unless I can prove to him the cruise crowds won't follow. However, I'd like to plan something down the Aleutian Islands ... we will see. PS ... tried to get on the tour of the ship that was the Deadliest Catch in season 2. Space only available if it doesn't sell out from the cruise ships .... like I said there were five of those in port. There's no doubt it sold out.. Roger & Lynn
Thanks for the suggestions - at least I got one reply! I was beginning to think I was being ignored or that there actually wasn't anything to do in those states How far east into Iowa? Plenty of things to see and do in the Des Moines area. The state capitol building is one of the best we've seen. I second Jeff's suggestions. We lived in Iowa City (U of I) and it's repeatedly picked as a great place to live with lot's of activities. The COE parks are plentiful and good. Especially, along the Mississippi. Generally, you'll have a great view of the river and it's got plenty of wildlife and boating/barge activity going on to watch and enjoy. As you travel north from the Quad Cities you'll find high cliffs (palisades) along the river road that are scenic. East of DM Iowa is rather hilly than flat. You can see how Grant Wood (American Gothic) got his inspiration for a lot of his paintings...especially NE Iowa. You can visit the old farmhouse in the backdrop of that famous painting of the farmer with the pitchfork and his "wife". In actuality, it was his daughter! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_Wood We're more familiar with the east half of Iowa and can give more suggestions if you guys are headed that way! steved44
Getting ready to head out to Lake Eufaula in the morning. Might be a little hard to pull the pin as we've been here for a couple of months. Carol's photography group is having a camp out this weekend so we're going to join them. I think we can do this camping thing!! I had to start the bus to add some air to one tire, so I know it starts anyway. This is one of those pesky tires that seems to loose 8 lbs of air in a couple of months, but only 8lbs. After that it stays the same for (I don't know how long, but long)!! Oh well, it's aired up now, so we'll see. The weather is stabilizing now in Ok land. Getting hot, partly cloudy, little breeze, but no storms, so that's good for a change. Still playing with the grandkids, so they're not sick of us yet. I think some of your storms finally moved up here. Garage painting meant no parking there Thursday so Dave parked outside Wednesday. Then they forecast storms with possible hail so Dave moved the car back inside. That meant he had to get up early and move it Thursday. We're still having thunderstorms move through today but so far we don't have any hail dents in the car. I hope I can continue to say that as this current batch of storms moves through while Dave is out with the car this evening. Wanderin
Back in Washington. Ick ... sounds like nasty weather is everywhere. Isn't this almost summer? Lee -- How you doing? Are you back in your "home" or still in the Navion? Feeling better? I certainly hope so. Terry left this morning with SIL on a long drive to Texas. Robert and his brother are clearing out his father's house -- lots of work. Terry didn't want him to have to drive by himself. All I can say is better him than me. If it's not too nasty today, I just might try to catch the Rose Festival Parade in Portland .... maybe ... weather depending. IYQ
and to think of all of Iowa I missed by sending my Niece and Nephew there. i didn't have to put up with any of it. Jeri, I'm still in the Navion and will be for a while. My friend Susanne can only work a couple of hours every two or three days. And she is going through ever inch of that thing. With this weather bouncing off 100 every afternoon and her having to work in the hot part of the day its going slow. Then with her done with it I'll move in slowly. just about every thing was given away or thrown away and I'm not going to replace most of it. the bath and john is much more comfortable in the old hornet but I get alone ok in the Navion cause about all I do is sleep and eat anyway. when I move into the Hornet again then I have to go through it to get it back in shape. My niece completely changed it to her style then spent more times in Motels then in the Navion. then that trip with Barb and I to SD was in Truckstops and all we changed is the Frig and roll sleeping beds out on the bunks. Its still not in shape to change much because boxes of stuff from the Hornet are stacked sky high on the spare bunk until I can move it back to the Hornet. So I got some stuff in the frig to eat and one bunk to sleep on and a few clothes in the closet and don't do much more than sleep anyway. I'm slowly changing cabnets back to where I can find things and tossing her stuff I can't use. they evidently had a couple errors. one end was torn off the black hose, the handle was broken on the grey tank and the slide out damaged behind the drivers seat where something was evidently stached between the wall and the slide while the slide was closed then cracked when they tried to open the slide. every thing I do I expect to find another problem when it operates. I'm doing ok and don't let anything disturb me so eventially I'll get everything back to the way I want it. sandsys
the slide out damaged behind the drivers seat where something was evidently stached between the wall and the slide while the slide was closed then cracked when they tried to open the slide. We did that. My cane was laying beside the passenger seat so the slide hit it and cracked the trim. Oops! Fortunately the crack was small and the slide still worked fine so we just ignored it. It would be harder to ignore if someone else did it, I think, because then I have someone besides myself to blame. Wanderin
\ Jeri, I'm still in the Navion and will be for a while. Well, I'm glad you kept the Navion and the Hornet. It won't be long until you'll have things in good shape. So nice that you have friends there to help you. So, are you niece and nephew talking to you? I'm glad you got to stay in New Mexico.
