Wanderin
No Oscars but just cannot believe that Gravity got up there! Hated that movie!! Temperature hit about 20 last night. "Severe" warning for sleet and ice tonight. What's with all this nasty weather? Actually, we think it's Jeff and Tina and figure they brought it with them Florida. If it had been us, we would have brought warm weather from Arizona. At least we're snuggled in until after the ice leaves and temperatures return to the mid-70's. Not sure where we're heading from here. Terry has to be in Portland on the 17th and Sandi's flying down on the 20th so we need to sit someplace for a while ... San Antonio? Maybe. Houston? Maybe. This is also spring break time in Texas and lots of the parks are full. We don't like that either. They take Passport America Sunday through Thursday then gave me 10% for AARP, I think, the other days. I just gave the guy all my cards and he picked which ones gave me the best deal. When I went the second time he remembered me--maybe because I gave him a brand new cast iron skillet I wasn't using. They may not have a spot for you, though; I got in with no reservation because I fit in one of their short end spots. IYQ
We had a heavy cloud cover this morning and a chilly breeze. I went to the hardware and bought a portable heater. Today will probably be the only day it will get used until next fall. But it sure made my shop cozy. I even did a little carving today. It's the first time I've carved in about a year. It's going to take a little practice to get my touch back. I've set a new record. I've fixed my own dinner two evenings in a row. What's this world coming to? Maybe I'd better go see a doctor. IYQ
I went to the lumber company and got some more material to build another smaller bench to set all my motorized equipment on this morning. Then came back and went to work. I got it almost done except putting the trim strip around the edge of the top surface. That's when I realized I was so tired I could hardly stand up. So I took a short Steve in my chair then went to happy hour. After happy hour I took 3 Cowgirls out to the truck stop for dinner. That was a good idea cause I wouldn't have to do any talking. Infact I couldn't even get a word in edgewise. That suited me just fine. Wanderin
Toni - Congratulations. Now I'm anxious to hear more about how, when, where the meeting is going to take place and a little about his life. Tell us how he found you. The ice is gone in Texas and the weather is good for a few days and not so good for a few more. Today is going to be on of those not so great days. We met Tina and Jeff in Wimberley, Texas a couple days ago. It was certainly nice to see them again. We had hoped to move on to Houston before Paul and Marsha headed north but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. When spring break rolls around in Texas the RV parks get crazy. Everything (I do mean everything) fills up and that even means the real "trailer parks". Hopefully nice weather will come to stay soon and people will go back to their houses. Prior to that we probably can get reservations at a couple Wal-marts on our 55 mile move south. We're thinking it'll take us about 3 days to get there. After that and on a nice day let's plan to meet on the Riverwalk. That's always a nice place to return to. .. IYQ
Tom & Dianne, Denise and your's truly. Had dinner at the Adobe Deli tonight. I felt honored to have such fabulous guest. I don't know about them but I had a wonderful time. Tom and Dianne have to go on there way in the morning but Denise is going to stay a few days to receive some equipment she ordered using this address. I gave them a look at my new shop even though it isn't completed yet. I think they liked it. I sure do. Tomorrow I will do a little wiring job for Denise on her new toad. Then if this chilly weather gets back to normal I'll take her sight seeing so she'll have something to remember about the Deming area.
