Onthego
We are at Pioneer Village in Minden, Ne. Can't believe someone could collect so much "stuff". Toured some it yesterday afternoon and going to look more today see if we can see it all. Weather forecast for us today says possible severe storms later. Roger, glad you found the keys. Good weather for everyone. dlcarsonak
Are you going to see the big ball of string? I think it is close to there. Also the Russel Stover candy factory is in Iola, NE with a real factory outlet store in front. Just be sure you eat real food before going or EVERYTHING looks too good. Hope you dodge all that stormy weather. readytoride
Glyn has to stay and work the campground here in WY and I will be driving by myself. I will be in a bit of a hurry this week but will have more time to stop and visit on my way back to WY from Ohio. My return will be closer to the 15 or 16 of June if you are still in that area as it is very close to interstate 80/74 which is my route this time. Also, I will be in a very maneuverable little car so I can go anywhere quickly:-) If anyone else is along interstate 80 between Quads and Rock Springs, WY the middle of June my plans are open for side trips to visit, (especially if you know of a good ice cream stop). Love chatting here and knowing there are like minded people out there along our travels. Hey Di - know you are in a hurry this week - but honk and wave as you pass by Omaha - or if you have time to stop and eat we could meet you. Plus on your return trip - check the map - we may be close to your route. Think next week we will head to Hannibal Mo to explore some Mark Twain territory - if Mike can get me away from the Grand daughter! IYQ
I shed an other 1800+ bucks this morning for the South Dakota state tax on my new truck. Ouch, does anyone know where I can get a tin cup and some pencils? And SD is one of the cheepest states. After I got that sent off the rest of the day was pretty much free. My. GG Niece called and ask if I could come to her place on the 9th and 10th of June. That is when she can get off work. Soooo the 9th and 10th it will be. If I'm not finished her I can always come back to finish up. IYQ
I drove down the mountain this morning to go to Johnson's RV Service and accessory store. I need a larger quick link connector for my safety chains. The only thing they had was a little tiny thing I could pull apart with my hands, if I eat enough Wheaties. I also wanted to buy a pair of wide suspenders to hold my pants up. It seems that I've lost my hips somewhere now all I have is my belly to hold my pants up and it don't work very good. After I left the RV place I went to Lowes Hardware and Lumber to see what they had. They didn't have anything any larger than what I alread have but they did have a device that will work on this Chevy hitch so I got a couple of them. I could have gone to the Lowe's up here and done just as well, infact it a larger store. So one wasted trip off the mountain but I enjoyed the ride. All the clothing places didn't have suspenders. I did find a single pair in a department store but they are the narrow straps like they use for dress pants. I need good old wide Farmer's suspenders. It looks like I'll be leaving here Thursday of next week and going to see my GG Niece in Columbia. SC. My Niece will come up from Charleston so we can all be together and save me a trip down there. I'll have to come back here for a few days after I leave my Nieces to make a plywood tunnel afair for my ladder so I can store other boxes on top of it and still get it out of the truck easyily. I will also add a plyboard fence to one side to store my shovels and other long loose stuff behind so they won't interfere with the rest of the load. Up here I can work at my housekeeper's Son's place and use his truck to go get materials. Plus let him do the heavy lifting. Congratulations Tony. Now you have someone else to spoil. steved44
We got up this morning and while we were getting the coffee made, read about the Women's College softball world series being held here in OKC. We called, managed to get a couple of tickets and headed to town. They had free parking at the Remington Park Quarter horse race track and a free shuttle to the stadium, so getting there was easy. We had a few tornado sightings north and south of us, but nothing in the city area, so at least the weather cooperated. We watched Texas beat Arizona, and then Oklahoma thump Michigan. Great night for a ball game and the temp was perfect. Oklahoma girls have a good chance of winning this year, so it was good to be able to see them play. We didn't get home until 1:00am, but it was a fun day. Now to take a Steve ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........................... IYQ
Well, I got my HARD folding topper installed this morning. I sure like it a lot better than the soft one. I also got the Insurance check for my old truck. I took a beating on that one. Oh Well, I'm alive and still able to horrass y'all. So I guess I'm happy. Now if I can just get word from the new Insurance Company and the Vehicle Registration I can put this all behind me and sit on it. I just got a Cancellation Request form from the old Insurance company. I'll get it filled out and sent back in maybe I'll get enough back to buy a cup of coffee. steved44
Another round of storms. These were hard to figure as they had multiple tornadoes within a large rotating mass of a storm. We had to drive about 25 miles to get around the system. We thought we were ok as everything was going north of us, then a bunch split off and went southeast right toward us. That's when we decided to pack up the bus and hi tail it out of here. We were in a long line of cars doing the same thing and headed south to get around it. Well it kept coming south!! Never do these things act like this!! We finally got to the fringe area and stayed there until everything passed. Problem was the storms kept forming. At least the later storms were not tornadic, but boy was there a lightening show. Got back to our parking spot and there were limbs down and leaves all over the place. Also much water, so they probably had hail too. Glad we got out of here. Now where did I put the baaaad whiskey!!!! steved44
No Dave you can't have my tires, I do need them to outrun these storms. We have a son living here and also a nephew that has a wedding in two weeks. We are shooting the wedding pix, so we need to hang around. Good news is our son is planning to move to Colorado next year, so maybe we won't have to visit "tornado alley" as often. Now I need to get busy and move the bus. We came back last night after the storms and just pulled into the space frontwards because of the water and limbs. That and I had to use all the energy I had left to find the baaaaad whiskey and take a sip. The ground is a little soft around here too and I wanted daylight to see where I could drive without getting stuck. We had 10" of rain too so that's quite a bit in such a short time. Our airport was damaged some, but it looks like flights are starting to come in now. Bad news was a couple (woman and child) were killed on the West side of OKC by being sucked out of their car. There were 7 more fatalities also from people in cars. You don't want to be trapped in a vehicle in one of these storms. That was the area with the most damage. Good news was although there were more storms and more tornado's, they were not as bad as the one last Monday. Well got to move the bus, hmm batteries on float, coffee ready, slides in, don't forget to lock the whiskey drawer. GO! ps: thanks for checking on us.
