  1. That is really bad to hear, and I hope that you get it resolved. We considered changing over to Escapees Roadside Assistance at our last renewal but ultimately decided not to based on a couple of so-so reports. Good luck with getting things sorted out and thank you for the first-hand experience.
  2. SeeLevel Gauges actually work very well, and are a far better option than the "normal" RV gauges. I'm surprised that the OP is having issues with their gray water tank not reading reliably. I wonder if the sensor is well-bonded to the outside of the tank. If you ever have an RV with reliable gauges you will enjoy them. I remember when I was young and poor and had a car with a non-working gas gauge. I filled up based on mileage and made it work, but I'm sure not anxious to go back to not having a usable gauge! In the car or in the RV...
  3. Do you think you've about beaten this bit of hilarity to death?
  4. Airstream is the most expensive trailer on the market in terms of $$ per square foot of living space. So no, there really isn't anything out there that is similar. Some of the fiberglass "egg" trailers share characteristics and are also rather expensive on a $$ per square foot basis, but also lack storage space and (in my opinion) long-term livability. But they too seem to hold their value at a higher percentage than more "typical" trailers. I think that choosing a trailer based on resale value after one year of ownership is a terrible criteria, unless you actually plan to sell it after a year. And if you do, don't buy a new one to begin with! If you are truly enchanted with AS, you likely won't find anything similar enough to warrant your interest. But if you step outside of viewing other trailers through that lens, you can find some very nice trailers, suited for full-time living, for significantly less money per square foot.
  5. I sent you a PM. Found an address affiliated with their YouTube channel.
  6. I wonder if the person who wrote that article actually used or reviewed any of the products. I think not, as the single "con" noted for the hard-wired Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C unit is "Tight connection, which sometimes causes issues when plugging it in". Since the hard-wired unit is installed somewhere in the interior of the RV and uses the original power cord, how can this alleged tight connection cause issues when plugging it in? One of the other units is dinged for not having a "fireproof feature". Just what in the heck is that?? I'm seeing more and more of these "articles" which are simply mash-ups of other articles and reviews, and intended primarily to get hits and drive traffic to the affiliated sellers, who are linked in the article ("Get price on Amazon"). I suppose you get what you pay for with an article like this.
  7. You have me confused with someone else. I have made no statements regarding the efficacy of electric vehicles in general or Tesla vehicles in particular. So I have zero reason to explore a link regarding plug-in sites. My comments addressed the wild swings in the price that Tesla has been trading at this past several months, and in particular this week and attributed them to speculators.
  8. Guilty!! I'll bet you're relieved that no one loaned you that $890,000!
  9. Doesn't matter, as my comment had nothing to do with the product that Tesla is producing. It had to do with speculation in the stock market. The value of a (stable) company doesn't change five-fold in seven months, nor 10% in 15 minutes. So what is happening with Tesla stock isn't based on the considered value of the company long-term, but rather speculators trying to ride the steep ups and resulting downs. I get that you are a huge Tesla fan. I've been aware of it for years. You are practically evangelical about it. Continue to post daily updates of the stock price and page-long posts discussions regarding the future of electric vehicles in the world if that is your thing. And I'll call what's happening with the stock prices speculation. Fair enough??
  10. This is clearly not investing based on sound financial principles, as there is no reason for a stock to go from $180 to almost $1000 per share in just over half a year, nor to gain/lose 10% of its value in 15 minutes. Either it was badly undervalued, is badly overvalued, or, more likely, some of each. This is speculation at its finest, with folks trying to guess which way it will go moment-by-moment. If you can guess correctly, congratulations. If not, sorry!
  11. Did anyone notice that the posted information refers to "previewing the 2008 towing guide" and was last updated on March 15, 2011. How does it now find its way onto the board in a January 2020 post? So very much has changed with tow vehicles in 12 years. I suppose that the overall message (buyer beware, know how to run the numbers) is still valid. Most of the folks I know with short-bed pickups have them on Crew Cab trucks, so they are hardly short-wheelbase trucks. As long as the numbers work and the appropriate hitch is chosen to assure you don't crunch the back of the cab in tight turns, I don't agree that correctly spec'd and set up short-bed models are not appropriate for towing fifth wheel trailers.
  12. I just checked on the insured, priority package that I shipped with USPS back in early January (I referred to it in Post #5 of this thread). Even though I know the camera did in fact arrive, and I received it back from Canon via Fed-Ex, the USPS tracking still shows it in "Alert" status, undelivered and delayed, with no additional updates since January 4th. Do you think that they plan to cut me a $1500 check for the insured value since they've "lost" it??
  13. We are entering our tenth year of full timing and it has gotten much tougher to "wing it" in many areas. Many state parks are now on reservation systems and it is quite common for weekends (Friday/Saturday) and summer nights to be locked out months in advance. And even if campers don't show those sites generally remain locked out as the park has received payment is isn't likely to release the site and risk the purchaser showing up a day late. Even private parks in popular areas can be challenging to get in to on weekends or even summer weeks. We've traveled from Texas to Maine the past two years (up in Spring, back in Fall) and have been shocked by how tricky it was to get sites in some areas. Bottom line is that ten years ago we generally traveled without reservations, and had little issue getting sites (including Texas to Maine in 2011). Starting several years back we noticed the "full" status of public parks becoming and more common. Even day use at popular Texas state parks is now reservable with the most popular parks booking weeks in advance. We visited a Texas State Natural Area today and saw easily 3 times as many people as we'd ever seen there in the past 8 years. The reason given? The two closest state parks were unavailable for day use due to be completely reserved out. Things change, and experience gained ten, or even five years ago may not be a relevant as you might think!
  14. Glad it worked out! Hope the GK's are doing well.
  15. Still a completely inaccurate conclusion. This would be akin to me claiming that 100% of those who got the flu last year had not been vaccinated. The only thing that can be accurately concluded from the 29% statistic is that when comparing like groups of people who did, and did not get the flu vaccine, those with the vaccine had a 29% lower infection rate. That's it. Anything else is simply misunderstanding or mis-stating the statistic.
  16. I am still trying to wrap my mind around RV getting upset about thread drift... I expect to hear about Tesla, Elton Musk, moving to Colorado, etc. any minute now!! 😉
  17. Depending on where you choose to travel, you might find this challenging. Many less populated areas have only one or perhaps two grocery stores, and they simply may not carry much organic food based on low demand. Farmers markets may be able to fill that niche but are often unreliable or simply out-of-season. If this is a priority you'll likely need to spend time "looking ahead" and pre-determining the location of organic providers. And recognize that there will be areas that you'll have to skip.
  18. No disagreement from me. I was using the original terminology from Rickeieio to "format" my response.
  19. That certainly doesn't indicate cause and effect. Allergies have also become much more prevalent since the advent of cellular phones, personal computers, the internet, electric cars, and Space-X. Not to mention thousands of other inventions and practices. Doesn't mean that one has anything to do with the other.
  20. This is not what it means at all. What it means is that comparing a group of people who did get the flu shot to a group of people who did not, the group with the flu shot saw 29% less flu. This is a far cry from stating that 71% of those vaccinated developed the flu.
  21. What about a cheap baby monitor so you can hear the "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" when it shuts off??
  22. For us, this is the biggest issue. We travel extensively and are often in our "home area" for only a few weeks a year. With our current system requiring a PCP and a referral to anyone else, the time it takes to run those traps often exceeds the time we have planned to be in the area. Some of the folks commenting on this thread are essentially off the road or in a fixed location for months at a time, not to mention being on Medicare, which makes a difference in how you pursue medical care.
  23. You bet. What care of care you want. What kind of care is available in your area. What kind of care you can afford. Etc. Life is complex.
