  4. Battle born indicating that multiple units is series must be disconnected and charged individually on an annual basis to balance each pack ...speaks to the fact that there are multiple BMS in the series string with no visibility to what the other packs / bms are doing or need... a multi port charger that can individually monitor and communicate to each BMS or a true 48 volt( or desired voltage) pack with its own BMS monitoring each cell would be another solution, but disconnecting and balance a couple times a year seems a cost effective solution...something to keep in mind when multiple BMS are in series...packs in parallel would be no issue
  5. Battle Born does indicate that these packs can be series , not to exceed 48volts, that each pack must be at full state of charge prior to connecting them in series for proper balance , and to disconnect and charge them individually to full SOC annually. His comment that they had been running fine for over a year tends to make me think the maintenance routine wasnt followed. Maybe the cause, maybe not
  6. Obtained my Florida State Certified Contractors License in 1990 and my business is still actively contracting in Florida. Hurricane Andrew exposed a lot of issues, lack of codes, lack of enforcement, lack of qualified contractors, etc. After Andrew, municipalities started enacting and adopting codes and regulations that they thought best. Soon a hodgepodge of codes were in place, what you did to meet code in one city wasn’t sufficient in another. Municipalities, building officials, inspectors, could just “make up” what ever standard, code, regulation etc. that they wanted to with no real oversight or conformality with other municipalities. The Florida legislation was also lobbied heavily by the construction industry. They got involved and Florida adopted the unified state building code that all municipalities must adopt. The municipalities can’t add, alter or delete “codes” rather they have to go through a process to have the legislature change, alter, etc. the Florida building code. (Codes such as the wind load zones make sense that costal municipalities have stricter construction standards than inland for example.) As a contractor this made designing and permitting much more concise, and not subject to the whim of a local building official or inspector who wanted something other than what was in the current code. As a contractor, it is our company’s responsibility to ensure we know and understand the codes for the work we are contracted to perform. As an owner builder, the responsibility falls upon that individual. We have pulled permits in over 40 municipalities , mostly in south Florida. Each has their own building departments, plan review, inspectors or contracted inspectors, admin, etc. Some take months to get through the process and issue the permits, others days- a lot depends on the scope of the work and size of the municipality . But basically the process is to show them that you know the codes and how to perform the work, the better you can demonstrate that in the application and documents the easier it is to obtain the permit Things have changed again since covid, with more and more now going to an online application and submitial process, online scheduling for inspections and results. In some cases this has sped up the process, in others it just gives them additional layers of BS to heap on that we must wade through. Rather than permitting, I refer to them as the work prevention department.... Back when everything was done in person over the counter i would start by telling them my goal was to give them money today, didnt care how much as the client would be paying for it, but by them accepting money that day generally meant we could go to work the next. Lastly, the difference between God and a building inspector..... God knows he isnt a building inspector

  9. Is the wire wet rated? On the side of it should have printing indicating what it is and the rating. Wet rated, UV / sunlight resistant, direct burial, oil resistant, etc.
  10. Hit the little person Icon on the app, it redirects me to starlink.com, then can choose Manage, then can see the data usage.
  11. If you log onto starlink.com and select manage my account, you will see the data useage graph. I dont see it on the app
  12. To give an Idea of our typical use for our residential account referenced above, we are streaming all of our TV programs through 3 smart TV's. DW is home all day, 1 TV gets turned on at 5 AM and off at 9 PM, it streams live TV via Youtube TV, watches programs from DVR library, grand kids are here 5 days a week after school watching movies from Disney, Prime, Netflix, etc on it. The other 2 smart TV are used on occasion simultaneously with the main 1 as well during the week We also have 2 cell phones on our wifi for all calls, each has our verizon number and google voice with business number ported, each phone has 2 numbers assigned and when at the residence use wifi for calling. Grand kids also have tablets that connect to our wifi , they play their games and watch shows on them as well when they are here Also have business computer connected 24/7 to the network, email and internet services including zoom calls at least 1 a week for an hour, data downloads of fairly large files for autocad DWG files, pdf files, etc. We havent seen any slowdowns, drop outs, etc unless there is really bad weather that blocks the signal for a few minutes until it passes. I have wondered how much starlink data we use each month, currently they are not sharing the daily or monthly totals so all I can see is the real time up / down usage. So far we have been please with the service and have zero complaints. Will see what happens the next 6 months and post back the results.
  13. Here is the email that Starlink sent me today. To ensure our customer base is not negatively impacted by a small number of users consuming unusually high amounts of data, the Starlink team is implementing a Fair Use policy in the US and Canada in December 2022. Based on your data usage over the last six months, this policy will have no impact on your service if your usage patterns stay the same. Under the Fair Use policy, all Residential customers will receive unlimited data, and will start each month with Priority Access, which means their data usage will be prioritized during times of network congestion. Customers who exceed 1 TB of data use on a monthly basis (currently < 10% of users) will automatically be switched to Basic Access for the remainder of the billing cycle, which means their data usage will be deprioritized during times of network congestion, resulting in slower speeds. Data used between 11pm - 7am will not count towards your Priority Access. Starting today, you can now monitor your data usage on your account page. Read more in Starlink’s Fair Use policy and in the Terms of Service. Thank you for being an early customer and for your continued support of Starlink! Starlink Team NOTE: The Terms of Service also include updates on using the HP Flat Starlink designed for in-motion use. By continuing your use of Starlink, you agree to be subject to the Fair Use policy and the updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these changes, you can cancel your Starlink Services at any time on your account page.
  14. Or use self drilling screws into top layer of box tube so no nut required. My experience with zinc hardware it will rust , would at least paint it first.
  15. Is the 500 voc input limit per mppt or combined? Looks like amperage rating is combined but they don't specify on voltage making me think total, so potential of exceeding 500? Uni strut going to be galvanized? Stainless steel is really expensive and I wouldn't use zinc it end up rusting. How bout that boxed aluminum channel, like 3/4 square tube probably lighter and cheaper than unistrut
  16. S3.They look nice spec. Voc bought 50.1 so 250.5 per string at 10.7 amps. 20 % efficiency. Nice panels. What guage wire you running, which mppt solar controller are you going with? Hope you document the build and share some pictures .
  17. We canceled dtv and Comcast at our s&b. We now have starlink, supplies all our connectivity very well, fast, no drop outs. Cheaper than Comcast. Subscribed to YouTube TV for 1/3 the cost of dtv and we get more channels , better dvr services.
  18. yup, good old fashioned snail mail usps letter....they are calling becasue they want to speak with you....
