  1. from the add.... 1999 Volvo vnl 610 $45,000 Listed a day ago in Newberry, FL Message Save About This Vehicle Exterior color: Gold · Interior color: Black Fuel type: Diesel 2 owners Seller's Description 1999 Volvo VNL610, 2013 Tarasport 50’ stepdeck, dual purpose commercial and/or recreational, with extensive restorations, turnkey and ready to work or play. $75,000 for truck and trailer. 1999 Volvo VNL610, pre-ELD, N-14 dual torque 370/430, Super 10, fully setup for both commercial use or to pull a fifth wheel RV. I’m the second owner of this truck, purchased in Apr. 2004. This was originally a Watkins truck, ordered by them to pull doubles, with factory 23k single drive. Gearing yields 63 mph at 1600 rpm. The ECM is unrestricted and will run as fast as you are brave. I’m not that brave. I generally get 7-8 mpg loaded and 9.5-10 mpg empty. Upgrades include a Honda EV-4010 RV generator in a custom enclosure, a 525 a/h hotel load battery bank from Fullriver in a custom in-frame enclosure, a 3000 watt plus a 2000 watt Xantrex inverter set, wired with 4-0 marine grade custom connections. Also, a 10 amp NOCO battery maintainer for the starter
  2. Spin We had very similar concerns as yours as we are in the process of a design build as well. Our research and input from many has led us to an all electric / diesel trailer to eliminate propane completely. Going with two 240 volt mini splits with heat pumps ,diesel water heater, and heat exchangers for the underbelly. Also a 10k 240 volt diesel generator, 4k of solar, 30kwh of battery. We will also be living in it full time, wintering in south Florida with 50 amp metered service. Induction cooktop, convection microwave inside, no oven, electric black stone for outside. No back up for the heat, but back ups for the power to run it. Now my concern is the rate of consumption of the diesel fuel for the trailer devices, but figure will always have fuel on hand that can be transfer from truck to trailer if need be.
  3. Got a phone call today from innovative toll solutions regarding my inquiry of their program. The lady indicated that they cover all tolls, either by transponder or license plate reading. I asked her to provide a comprehensive list of all the toll authorities they have agreements with. Her response was that she would email it to me, then asked if I wanted to sign up. Told her I would need to see the list prior to signing up, she assured me I would have it within a few days. She indicated that they had been in business providing this toll service to over the road truckers for several years, and now are partnering with Open Roads, that she was new with the company and said i was the first one that had requested such a list. More to come.
  4. Is that their original Best Pass program ?
  5. Yes I agree and did the same, notice they dont say its a single transponder in the FAQ section but do in the anouncment section ....We cover all toll roads nationwide and provide toll transponders/stickers for coverage.
  6. Toll Solution Looks like a separate program , updated and now rolled out by TSD on their open roads site linked above. One Tag- Innovative Toll Solution allows you to have one transponder that works across the nation at all tolls and bridges. No need for multiple transponders like TX-Tags and EZPass while you're out RV-ing. Worry Free Through Open Roads' partnership with Innovative Toll Solution, you don't have to wait for monthly bills from various states or run the risk of getting sent to collections for not receiving and paying statements. Seamless Payments Toll transactions are automatically deducted from the credit card you attach to your account when you pass through toll roads while driving. The transponder is free and the annual fee is just $24 per year!

  8. 1 that I know is that the gen 1 and gen 2 starlink routers are AC wifi 5 and not AX wifi 6. Supposed gen 3 is wifi 6
  9. Looks interesting and there's a market for it too. Something like that for the 04 FLHR would be useful.
  10. Been following these posts about ECM failure , seems they are all due to moisture / oil getting into the ecm and associated connections cause by the oil level sensor harness wicking and its happening on D12 engines prior to 2013. Volvo put out a tech notice regarding the fix. Service Bullet Wouldnt it be best to perform the procedure and eliminate the known issue ? Also make sure there are no other fluid leaks in or around the area of the ECM. Would that negate the need to carry a spare ECM or are there other issues causing ECM failures? As we were shopping for our new to us HDT truck, we focused on a gen 3 Volvo to avoid the wicking issue as it seems its resolved now, maybe there are other issues the D13 has that the older motors didnt have, I dont know but we are going to find out 🙂 I agree with Chad on his approach, a communication device and a credit card should get me out of trouble when it arrives

The florida vehicle registration statue must be adhere to if you want Florida registration with non commercial license plates on your hdt / motorhome . Florida resident/ domicile is really a separate discussion .
  13. Isn't the biggest destroyer of the night sky the sun? Perhaps clouds a close 2nd? Just some brevity , lighten up.

  18. Thank you for your open and honest responses , it helps us and others as we navigate through the design, build, purchase process. The value of a purchase is really in the eye of the individual. No one wants to over pay, think everyone wants to feel that they got a deal at the end of the day. Regarding your rig and circumstances, do you feel you got what you paid for? Did the 10k of warranty claims and other issues after the sale change that opinion one way or the other? Again thank you for your candor
  19. Unlike flooded lead acid, AGM batteries are sealed
  20. A couple of questions if you dont mind, not being critical, just trying to understand why you chose to spend the big dollars with that particular manufacture. Did you do your due diligence when you chose DRV / Thor for your toy hauler, do a factory tour, see how they were built, see what if anything set them apart from their competition , talk with any of the piece- workers, talk with other DRV owners? Presume it was new since you mentioned warranty claims, did you buy it new from a dealers inventory or order it and have it built ? Do you know where those big dollars went into the build ,or how did they justify the additional cost? Were any of the items that they justified for these big dollars items that failed and had warranty claims? Looking back at your expieriences, if you had paid less would you then feel that you got what you paid for? If so, how much less until your cost equals the value received? Had their not been the 10K of warranty claims, would you then feel you got what you paid for?
  21. Agree all quality issues are manufactures issues. Consumers need to do their due diligence. Understanding how the manufactured product will fit your particular need by defining your expectations . Weekend warriors , full time and every thing in between. Spending more and understanding where it is going will definitely result in quality. Spending less might get you the quality you need to fit your expectations.
  22. As a motorcyclist that has traveled the entire length from Front Royal to Cherokee , I would never take anything that large on the parkway. Your going to be to big to fit in the pull offs at the overlooks. The parkway is 2 lane with no shoulder, lots of curves and elevation changes. 35 mph speed limits. There are no services on the parkway, no fuel, food, etc. Park the 5ver at a campground. Explore the parkway with your truck.
