  1. Well, I am not going to argue about this as I am not an app programmer. What I do know is that if it is opening starlink.com it is somehow bypassing Chrome. Any other app I have that links outside the app opens in Chrome and since this one doesn't my only conclusion was that it opened the account window in the app (which has always been there) and it just had new information added as the app updated on November 5th. Oh, and that was day after Starlink announced the new policy.
  2. Sounds like a good reason for Elon Musk to get cracking on a Tesla pickup or SUV but not the Cybertruck which I think is going to have a pretty small niche market.
  3. Amazon has a wide variety of pet ramps. You could look there to see if you find a solution. You may end up having to make your own though.
  4. In the Android version of the app there is no redirect it simply opens a screen within the app that has all my account information including the usage chart. I don't have to choose anything else.
  5. Since the F150 is capable of flat tow I will presume you are going to flat tow. Tn this case whatever is going to give you the longest tire life as the wear on the tires will be the same as driving it.
  6. It is in the app but you have to go to your account by tapping the little person outline at the top left.
  7. Same here, we like the service and find it worth the money compared to the alternatives. Per that email you can see your total usage broken out by day if you log into your account in either the app or on a computer. I checked our usage and usage and found it to be surprisingly low considering that we have 17 connected devices, granted the 2 streaming devices would have the highest numbers if there was a way to actually monitor usage by IP like you can in a conventional router.
  8. The RV and Best Effort plans have never been given Priority Access so this is nothing new. The 1TB limit seems pretty reasonable for a residential service. If folks really need more then paying for the extra seems reasonable as well. If you are consistently exceeding that limit then perhaps a commercial account would be better. As far as slowing down the advertised speeds I see this as being honest unlike the Comcast service I had for years. As Starlink gets more satellites up I would look forward to changes that reflect the capability of the overall network.
  9. Just got an email from Starlink today. They are implementing a Fair Use Policy and are going to impose a monthly limit of 1TB at which time their access will be reduced to basic service which a lower priority than Residential service. Along with this they are giving a way to monitor your usage, this is something I have wanted from day one.
  10. I have been messing around with Ubuntu but I have ordered several USB memory sticks so I can load other distributions. I am particularly interested in the Windowsfx. I too use a VPN at times, I would use it all the time but there is one website that I assist admining and it WILL NOT let me log in using a VPN, at least with the VPN I use (CyberGhost 8 VPN) and I have been unable to figure out why. The Office 365 can be loaded to run locally but it is not necessary at least with the version he has. I think he may have more of a commercial version as he is a server design engineer. I have not yet dipped my toe into Windows 11 although the wife is after me to get another computer up and running that is currently residing in a box that she wants gone.
  11. No, I did not misunderstand, but I was the one promoting Linux as I think it is the most viable of all those listed as a Windows alternative. I don't use Edge and won't in Windows 11 unless Microsoft makes it so that I can't use others. I do use Office 365 right now, thanks to my son-in-law I am a tag along on his subscription, and I like it. I use Outlook about once a week to organize my email as I find it's rule making function the easiest for me to use. I do not like it for daily use though, maybe too many years having to use it for business? When I run across websites that tell me I have disable my ad blocker to use it, I just move along to some other site.
  12. For what it is worth, not one of you in this thread spelled WaKeeney correctly. It is the combination of the names of the two men that bought the land and platted it, Albert Warren and James Keeney. That was our favorite stopping point when we lived in Colorado Springs and were heading east. And yes, it sure can get windy out there on the high plains with nothing to block the wind from Canada on down.
  13. I think is going to require a multi-front push. First, one or two the of the major paid Linux distros needs to get one or more computer manufacturers to offer Linux on the lower priced or entry level computers. For example if I go to Dell and search "Linux laptops" it brings up a lot of systems which I presume can run Linux in their estimation, however, only those system priced at over $1K offer Ubuntu as a factory install. Second, there needs to be a push to inform the public about the benefits of Linux over Windows in places other than computer oriented media. Third, there needs to be more television advertising. I have seen TV ads, Red Hat I think, but not recently and probably could be counted on one hand. Fourth, businesses that use Linux on their backend (servers) need to quit paying for Windows on the front end and use Linux desktop distros for all the employees. Once the general public becomes more informed I think Windows and Apple can be pushed aside or at least their influence reduced.
  14. Not quibbling at all as this is true whether in a wait listed area or not. I think RV Lifestyle has a good explanation:
  15. I think that must depend on the park you are in. In the park we are in the owners routinely check that all RVs in the park have current valid registrations. If not, they will ask (tell) you to get it done or be asked (told) to find another park.
  16. This is true for residential users, however business users (which requires a larger dish) and RV subscriptions are exempt from being wait listed. In both cases the cost of the subscription is higher so it is safe to say it is all about the money.
  17. Wow! Just wow! First the price is ridiculous, and second: So at this time, while interesting, it is a non-starter for me.
  18. Starlink just launched 54 more satellites taking the total to over 3500. The service just keeps getting better. SpaceX launches 54 satellites into Earth's orbit
  19. And then there is also the Black Book which most car dealers and automotive lenders use. It is not even available for free, it must be purchased and is owned by Hearst Business Media.
  20. Yes, good internet sounds like the ticket and then a streaming device, Roku would be my choice. I just checked my Roku and there are a number of Canadian channels available: Canada TV, Canada One, NTV Canada, Red TV Canada, and a number more. Also with the use an appropriate app and a VPN on your phone you could cast to your TV and make it think you are still in Canada. And you could just invest in satellite TV like Dish or DirecTv but I think you money would be better spent oh internet streaming.
  21. Forgive my question, but is there something special about Canadian TV? I would have just assumed that they watched whatever TV shows here that tickled their fancy.
  22. Sometimes I wonder how these hospitals and doctors make any money at all. Clearly they do, but the amount paid is likely why doctor offices seem to run patients through like cattle through a chute. When I was hospitalized for COVID I had one of the really bad cases, not ventilator bad but close. Anyhow the bill for my stay just from the hospital was $144,246 and Medicare paid only $14,931, roughly 10%, and I owed nothing.
  23. Fair enough. I guess I got confused when I was talking parts A and B and you jumped in with D.
  24. This is straight from the Medicare website as regards part C and D. So the same timeframe exists for Parts C and D. Open enrollment periods do not apply if this is the initial sign up for coverage. If you join Your coverage begins During one of the 3 months before you turn 65 The first day of the month you turn 65 During the month you turn 65 The first day of the month after you ask to join the plan During one of the 3 months after you turn 65 The first day of the month after you ask to join the plan
