  1. It's just lovely to have the DEA in the medical profession.
  2. At home on an xfinity wifi speedof.me just says 'test in progress'. How long does it take?
  3. A salesperson's job is selling, not knowing anything about what he's selling. He'd probably receive a severe scolding for ever dissuading a customer purchase for any reason.
  4. Just got back from a week in SE Utah. My Verizon phone displayed this big capital R where it should say 4g, and a capital H above the two little arrows that flash when you're actually getting data. A dire warning comes up and tells me I'm roaming, and I'll be billed through the roof for every megabyte of data I use. Soo.. I knew roaming applied to foreign countries, but not the continental US. I texted Verizon and was told no, I won't be charged for that. I better not be. Then why do they still display these ominous warnings??? It's not like I'm on the Mexican border picking up a tower in Juarez. Who's supplying the roaming service? R means roaming, but I never did figure out what the H was. The hotspot wouldn't work, I had to use my phone. Very slow on any kind of videos. Definitely no streaming. I need my dish!!
  5. Because you can get a big ticket for not having it. Life is full of risk and we all assess it differently. I know people who won't even do Facebook.
  6. Of all the wifi networks at all the coffee shops in the world, what are the chances there's a hacker on yours?
  7. I see they can't spell sanitize.
  8. I'm lost. My water fill is a hose stuck in a fill spout. Running the pump sucks water out.
  9. Lol.. it's been a nightmare. First she talks me into giving it to her so she can use it at her place. Then she doesn't use it. Then when I want it back she can't find it. Then she thinks I'll just forget about it so doesn't make an effort to find it. Then I deactivate it. Then she finds it, ships it to me, and now DTV won't activate it. ARGGHHHHHH
  10. I'm exasperated with DTV and I don't know what to do. A year ago my GF misplaced one of my HD receivers. 6 months ago, thinking it was gone, I deactivated it. I shouldn't have done that. I got it back, so I began what I thought would be the easy task of getting it reactivated. First, the My Equipment page on the old Directv website is gone. You get redirected to ATT, which is difficult to find anything. I finally found the equipment page, but it only shows my currently active receiver. Nothing else. I'll skip a whole lot of grueling details about trying to get this receiver reactivated, but suffice it to say I have not been able to do this online, and, a nice lady on the phone (the 6th person I had to deal with) won't reactivate it because I have a separate billing address and service address. She claimed I had to have 2 separate accounts. My account was just fine until I deactivated that receiver. I just want it back on the account and active. That seems to be impossible.
  11. 12,000 satellites. That's hard to imagine.. from every standpoint.
  12. It won't surprise me if Directv goes under, considering the experience I'm having trying to re-activate a receiver. I have 2 HD receivers, one is active, one got lost, so I deactivated it about 6 months ago. It's been found, and is on its way to me, so I went on the website to see how much trouble I'd have reactivating it. I found it near impossible. Any Directv.com site redirects you to ATT. And it's a mess. After a half hour I finally found what I think is the activation page, but they don't list my equipment, they just make you wait 45 seconds and tell you you don't have anything to activate. Evidently after I de-activated the lost receiver it simply disappeared from my account. The old DTV site clearly showed my equipment and its location. I had that page bookmarked, but that doesn't work anymore. So I go on chat, which in most cases is automated (no help at all), but I finally got a real human. I typed my name to get started. He wanted to look up my account, so he asked my name, and zip code. I told him I already typed my name, and could I use my account number. So I waited a few minutes for him to look up my account. Then he comes back and asks me for the serial numbers of the receivers. Exasperated, I said "You're looking at my account but you don't know what I have?" I terminated the chat. A few minutes later I get a phone call from a man with a very thick Indian accent. He tells me to go to directv.com/activate. Right. That directs me back to ATT, and the whole mess starts over again. I like their product, but hate their service.
  13. In my office working days I saw the same things.. blowing through every paycheck as if it was their last. But what really blew my mind was listening to them bitch about the forced retirement savings coming out of their paychecks (city gov't.) What they could do with the extra money, how they could invest it better..bitching about Social security.. blah blah.. all the time I'm thinking "yeah, right, you're just going to blow it." I think I was rather lucky to be concerned about retirement when I was 30. I hope fast food wasn't a habit, because that's neither thrifty nor healthy! And when you hit your 60s you need all the health you can get. And that comes from a lifetime of taking care of yourself. I never had to be quite that thrifty, I was a weekend musician with a 40 hr job, but I bought a house I could afford, a car I could afford, and cooked at home. And when married, there was no way I wanted a brood of children to support. Good on you for the winter home. Like Dave Ramsey says "live like no one else so later on you can live like no one else."
  14. We have a guy on the 'other board' who keeps posting this all the time.
  15. I'm getting the best wattage I've ever seen from my 835 watts of 6 panels: 728 watts! I'm at 7700' elev, Mesa Verde National park, high noon, clear blue sky, sun is almost directly overhead. Sweet.
  16. Solar panels don't last forever. Visually inspect each one for yellow marks behind the glass and burned black spots on the back. Test each one for proper output. A bad panel in parallel won't show any voltage drop at the controller as series will, but the controller will show an amperage drop. I didn't see any mention of amperage in your post. That needs to be checked at the controller input.
  17. Until God/Jesus get here we have to solve our own problems... especially the ones we create.
  18. Make sure fuel is a given. Traveling can easily eat $100 a day. Boondocking, or camping real cheap like Quartzsite can save you a ton of money over the long haul. Yes, the initial investment like solar, inverter and Lithium (I recommend) will hit the wallet hard, but you can recoup that just by avoiding RV parks. It's pretty sweet to be in a beautiful location paying next to nothing, knowing the RV park isn't getting their $60 a day. It's a long thread so I haven't read if anyone's talked about internet.
  19. I don't, but if I did I'd go online and check them.
  20. I don't remember ever getting a receipt.. or a need for one.
  21. Sure, but that depends on how much you pump and the price of fuel at other stations.
