  1. Our 5er has 2 GFCI's. One for the kitchen and one for bath and outside plugs. I had to search to find both master plugs.
  2. Sounds like flowered press release to distract from the nearly $1,000,000,000 spent during the cold spell to provide power. This extra sum along with rolling black outs. We will have the extra added onto our bills for the next 2 years to pay back this sum in Colorado.
  3. I have heard of chains on trailers in some conditions but many RV's would not have the room for chains. It would never work on our 5er.
  4. There are some HDT, 5ers that are a little over length. Most are not bothered. However, what you are describing sounds like it will need to be really long. I carry a Crosstrek on our HDT but it is a small 42" cab and the front of the car extends over the cab some. Registering the small cab is difficult in many states but not Colorado. Carrying an 3 row vehicle and a 40' 5er with a full size cab could mean a total length of 80' or more. That is well beyond the legal limit in every state I am aware of. I understand not wanting to be separated in different vehicles but it may be less of a problem in the long run.
  5. You have never shown you were afraid to tell others what you think they should be doing. I value freedom and I believe it is his choice. We will have to agree to disagree.
  6. https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-covid-19/issue-brief/what-share-of-people-who-have-died-of-covid-19-are-65-and-older-and-how-does-it-vary-by-state/ This figure has been used by the governor many times.
  7. In Colorado they say that 86% of the deaths from covid occurred in people 60 or older. That leaves the chances of dying of covid for younger people pretty small. Very very small might be a better way to describe it. I certainly wasn't going to tell him he needed to get vaccinated and his decision is ridiculous. That would seem to be his decision.
  8. In Colorado one can purchase a long gun here and go hunting even if out of state. Gun dealers sell a number of long guns to out of state residents every year. In fact the case sighted by the congressman who has proposed it this year and last was a person who flew to Colorado and purchased a shot gun.
  9. I use my HDT to haul more than my RV and have signs that say private RV. One time when hauling some hay I stopped at the weigh and check station and the officer commented that the lettering on the front wind deflector directed him to look at my plates. These Colorado plates are marked with RT for recreational truck. The officer would have seen the plates sooner or later but he already knew what he was dealing with as I pulled in. I have also had some county officers comment on the signs because my HDT doesn't always look like an RV. The signs have no legal meaning and I don't know if they are good or bad but I haven't had any problems.
  10. I had a conversation with a gentleman today and it drifted to covid vaccines. He said he was called for his vaccine but refused. He explained that his wife had a flu shot a couple of years ago and she developed severe problems. Some kind of rare syndrome that has left her with severe neuropathy from the waist down. Walking is difficult and it feels to her that she is walking on pins and needles. Anyhow his sister is in the medical field in CA and after what happened to his wife she also decided to not have the vaccine and they are fining her because she won't do it. He said she is looking to change to another medical facility.
  11. If you want the signs a sign company can easily make them for a reasonable cost.
  12. What makes you think I was complaining. I only pointed out we paid for it. Certainly seems like a better investment than some. It just isn't free.
  13. The government, we the people already paid for the vaccine.
  14. Barb your post got me thinking about why I rushed for the vaccine and how I want to live my life from here on. Thank you for your post. I was in a store yesterday for the 1st time in nearly a year. It felt strange. In thinking about yesterday and your post I have decided I am going to live my life and while I will wear a mask and do some social distancing I am going to do things. I want to see my children, grand children and great grand children. These vaccines are not perfect so there is of course some risk but the odds are in our favor. The vaccines are claimed to be virtually 100% against severe disease and better than 90% overall. There is risk in everything. Even getting into a car. I accept that and I accept this risk. I know I won't be here but for a short time and I am going to make the most of it. We haven't come to the same decision but that is OK. We don't need to agree but thanks again for pointing out that life may or may not change with the vaccine. Our choice.
  15. For my shot they didn't even ask for ID. I just gave them a name and birthdate on the form along with allergies and so on. It was very well organized and fast. Waited maybe 2 minutes in line. I had been hoping and waiting to get this since vaccines were originally discussed and in an instant it was done. Couldn't have been easier.
  16. When I received my covid vaccine they didn't ask about insurance. Filled out a quick form and poke. That was it.
  17. I have a 3 pedal autoshift and it works pretty good on the hwy. On less favorable terrain it is a burden. It can easily get confused on back roads. I have learned it is best to lock out auto shifting on back roads and in certain conditions. I have been hauling structural fill in a smaller dump trailer. When entering the mountain hwy from the pit it is a rough sharp turn and vision is limited. If left in auto it will usually get confused about 3/4 of the way and just drop to nuetral. Not a good thing!
  18. 2,000 should be fine. Our 120v mini uses more when heating. Our inverter displays the usage and I have never seen it draw more than 550 watts.
  19. There will be some loss powering through a transformer but it shouldn't be much. Let us know how it works.
  20. Washing the old grease out is also controversial as they say the wash solution can't be complerely removed and may contaminate the new grease. I don't know if that is a problem but it could be. One article I read said to wipe the bearing down and inspect that way. As long as the bearings are greased seems to be the best approach.
  21. One simple way is to always run the 240v mini split from a 120v line through the transformer. This would also work if you had a 30 amp site. Another way would be to set up a plug to plug the mini split into whichever power source you wanted. Another way is to use a switch. I would prefer to just power it through the transformer off of 120v line and forget it. Then use a 50 amp to 30 amp converter plug for the generator or any 120v source. When on 240v it would still use just 120v line.
  22. I bought the Yamaha a number of years ago. Before Predator was offered. On Ebay there is a transformer made by Rockstone that might work. It has a 3 year warranty by the manufacturer for whatever that is worth. I don't know where it is made. I saw a 2,000 watt unit, good for 1,300 watts for $89. I don't know if that is a good price?
  23. We carry a 3,000 watt Yamaha for the 5er. It is 120v but that is all we need. It is quiet and electric start. It stays on the HDT and uses the HDT battery for starting. Replacing the little generator battery and trying to keep it charged was a pain. Also use it to power a charger for 5er batteries when needed.
