  1. As John said it is all in how it is wired. Any power supply needs to be isolated from another supply unless one is designed to coordinate with another. From what I see neither of the supplies you are referring to have that capability but I haven't looked at the spec's. If the inverter chargers you are considering have pass through capabilities that you plan on using it could be complicated. On the other hand if you isolate the circuits by relays or just a plug arrangement you can have all the options for shore power you have now OR use the inverter/transformer power.
  2. Just a thought for the wire you choose. The NEC is very conservative for sizing panel array wire. It states that the maximum amperage be used as a starting point. Then it states to multiply that by 125%. Then size the wire by multiplying that by 125% again. Then for roof mounted panels there are charts to further reduce the wire capacity due to heat. I know most RV arrays don't meet that but the NEC wire sizing recommedation suggest that one should proceed with caution.
  3. Lead acid batteries, the type you likely have need to be fully recharged at least every few days. These batteries will deteriorate or fail if not fully recharged regularly. Recharging with a generator is a long, slow process.
  4. Eat your cheerios as that is a heavy unit. I have been looking for the specs but I guess I am not looking in the right place. What is the idle draw? Can it operate in parallel with another inverter?
  5. I have no information on how 3 inverters would work together but with the breaker box and the wiring you have each leg is limited to 50 amps. In reality only 40 amps as it isn't advisable to plan more than 80%. The neutral is also limited to 50 amps. The reason the nuetral can carry split phase is loads cancel out. My thoughts are 3 inverters are going to be problematic or maybe worse unless you are planning on a major rewire. Keeping the ability to plug in will also complicate things. To wrap up I think it can be done but is it worth it?
  6. Let us know if you purchase one. I also have been looking at inverters. It will be a year or so before I need one so I am just looking for now. There are so many new choices out and probably more to come before I buy.
  7. For the pallet (25) I bought from them they agreed on a little quantity discount. There shipping connections saved some to. I also have not heard a bad report on Santan and they were easy to deal with. I am going to put 6 of the panels up in a couple of weeks as a ground mount to supplement our RV solar, when at our property. I will report back on what I find.
  8. San Tan does offer a short warranty so if you buy from them it might be wise to get them in service quickly.
  9. I just bought a pallet of 285 watt used panels from them but these aren't installed yet. I have bought used panels from others and haven't had a problem. However, I have been watching a You Tube video about a person that bought used and even though they tested good the power output is maybe 1/2 of what it should be. Panels usually have a 25 year span until 80% power so my thought has been a 5 year old panel will likely outlive me but after seeing the video I am not so sure.
  10. I had a problem where if it didn't fit in the box they would take it back to PO instead of driving a 1/4 mile up our drive. Emailed CS about it and now it comes to the door. Now if I could keep my parcels from going through main Denver PO. Just had them track another package to Denver on the way to rural CO only to never leave Denver or to be seen again.
  11. I found the ones I used at a local recycle center. No longer in business. There was a repurpose center in Denver that had some also but I can't remember their name. Probably need to check recycle and repurpose aluminum centers. Hopefully there is one near you that has some.
  12. We built a houseboat and used those bleachers for the floor and the roof that was for walking on. Very strong, light weight and not terribly expensive. The ramps and support structure to carry our car are made from them and aluminum angle. With supports 12" on center you could support the world on it.
  13. If you can find some bleacher seats that have been junked they make a good strong and light floor. Usually pretty inexpensive.
  14. A volt meter reading the voltage at the battery and at the starter while cranking is another way to determine bad cables. If the cables are bad the high resistance will cause much lower voltage at the starter.
  15. 2001 volvo with ISX @500HP. I cheated and just bought 3 batteries instead of 4. It has worked well but it also has a solar panel to keep the batteries charged. When in the garage it has a trickle charger. If I used the inverter I would want 4 batteries.
  16. I live here in western CO and I think the alternate route is a nice drive but still mountains. Ouray is beautiful and very touristy. Enjoy
  17. If you are not comfortable with it the alternate route is a much less challenging drive. I have driven semi's over through Silverton and I don't consider it easy. It requires a lot of concentration to keep a big rig in your lane. The views are exceptional though so you may want to check it out without a trailer. There are very few guard rails which can also bother less experienced mountain drivers. If in doubt I would take the alternate route.
  18. Not all Medicare Advantage Plans are the same. Some plans are pretty basic but some provide very good coverage everywhere. Our employer provided Medicare Advantage Plan has a $10 copay for specialists but covers everything else 100% anywhere Medicare is accepted.
  19. One more note each of these surgeries was 10 years or more ago. I am scheduled for an MRI tomorrow for lower back pain. So we will see where that goes.
  20. The surgeries I have seen (small sample) included hardware but it was done in such a way that the neck was stabilized following surgery. Each of these had some range of motion reduced but that is all. No more pain or danger of more serious problems. One was a police officer and he was concerned about doing his job. He was worried about his shooting qualification. He recovered and could shoot or stand his ground without a problem. He wasn't restricted at all! Of the 3 people I know each has recovered and the only problem is some rather minor limited range of motion. The one woman was in terrible pain and paralyzed from her ribs down but walking the day after surgery. That's really impressive! I am thinking about you and wish you a similar recovery. Good luck and let us know how it went.
  21. We had working dogs on the ranch and they stayed out. They had shelter and we fenced them mostly to keep the coyotes at bay. Bringing a dog from a warm house to work in the cold is very hard on a dog. They had access to the barn and garage but a proper insulated dog house is where they went when the weather was really bad. When the weather would start to warm we would often find them on the north side of something where there was still some snow to lay on. For our dogs heat was the weather that was tuff on them. Our dogs hated to come inside during the winter as it was to warm.
  22. Eternabond is a tape that is permanent. Seals and lasts longer than dicor.
  23. I know of 3 people that had that surgery and didn't need to wear a neck brace. So maybe you will be spared. All needed pain meds for about a week after. One had bone spurs so bad she couldn't walk or even feel much below her ribs. They used cadaver bone to rebuild c4-c6. A PT had her walking the day after surgery. She used pillows to keep her head elevated some in bed for a few days. There are stairs to get into their home and she must have been able to make that when she came home. Best wishes and a speedy recovery
  24. We have had cats and still have one. This little kitten just showed up one day. Our house is in the middle of 35 acres and the neighbors all have acreage so it was odd. I gave her some milk and food and left her out. That night as we were getting ready for bed she would stretch up on the patio door and slide down wanting in. I put her in the laundry room for the night. The next day I had to move the dryer to get her out. A couple more days of that and now she owns the house but lets us stay. She is also comfortable in the RV.
