  1. What about something like this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XK37QJ5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pa5sFbV6YBY6M There are lots of different rechargeable lights available that require no installation wiring. Jay
  2. That must be a Paccar thing. I've never considered blocking up the cab on my Volvo and my cab air bags last 5-7 years. I do know, when you take them out and look at them, they have built in internal stops, which they rest on when the air drops too low. So, you never see them really collapsed. Maybe that's just a Volvo thing? Jay
  3. That may be true, but they seem to be currently of the opinion that's all the truck they need. Often, it's not an option to purchase another expensive truck when you already have one. This is the impression I got from their post. Jay

    Yeah, Bob, it kinda does!

Hi Steve, Thanks for the compliment. I completely agree with you on the great value of variety and diversity in general, as well as on this forum. I personally get bored with the same ole, same ole, and I really enjoy watching others make way with their projects. My truck has been work only until recently and I'm having fun prepping it for more relaxing duty. It now matches our Newmar Kountry Aire exactly. The paint shop ended up ordering the exact paint from Newmar so it matches. Very exciting! Jay

Hey Dave, You're definitely right about the fun and value of friends poking a little good natured fun at each other, especially in a year when so many seem to have lost their sense of humor. We all have different paths to our perfect toys, but it's quite satisfying when we arrive. In the end, it's friends and family that truly matter... But we still enjoy our toys. Jay

Thanks, Pat. If you're not familiar with those trucks, they were from the Watkins fleet out of Lakeland, FL. They were mostly single axles, as they ran doubles. They would sell off the five year or million mile trucks every spring. In '06, the Watkins line was sold to FedEx and those Volvos eventually dried up. I bought my '99 in '04. It's been a great truck and now we'll get to enjoy it in front of our fiver. Jay

Chad, the paint was done by the Ocala office of Mickey Truck Body. http://www.mickeybody.com/ I know nothing of their other locations, but this location treated me exceptionally well. Very happy with the overall experience. Great people! Jay
  14. Which generation? Mine is first gen and you remove the ashtray to access the screws behind, then carefully pop out the trim panel to the right of the steering wheel, which gives access to all the trim screws in that set of panels. Jay
  15. This issue is like so many others - it depends.. I'm 70-ish, and connecting/dropping our fifth wheel is pretty much a zero for me. I just don't think about it much. I too am healthy and plan to stay that way. That helps, but obviously we can't see the future. Disclaimer, I may have an advantage - I've been hooking and dropping for decades. I just think it's pretty far down the list of things to worry about. Jay

Where are you located? If you're east of the Mississippi, these guys are really good. Jay http://www.mickeybody.com/locations/
  17. There actually WAS a neat old Volvo, for a few seconds, but not the old Volvo TRUCK I was expecting.. Or the video of garage band music that some may enjoy, but not my cup of tea. Just puzzled... Jay
  18. Boy, that was two minutes I'll never get back. Not sure what ever that has to do with RVs.... or HDTs. Jay
  19. Ouch!! I think I'll avoid that method! Jay
  20. There are racks made that attach to the rear ladder, if you have a rear ladder... As I recall, the bike then hangs vertically, which would allow you to tie it to the ladder at several points, giving more security and peace of mind. A 1.5" hitch with adapter is certainly a weak point for that much leverage and weight. You can also use that type hitch mount, but then attach a strap from each outside corner to an attachment point on the camper, relieving much of the weight and strain on the hitch connection. etrailer.com is a good resource for bike mounts, etc. Jay
  21. Multiple options online. Mine came from https://www.raneystruckparts.com/
  22. Truly the scenery is spectacular, but the grades and need for caution start in Cheyenne. The grade from Wyoming down to Salt Lake City is particularly winding and quite long, but truly spectacular. Also, one needs to be cautious crossing the plains, as the wind can come up and be quite challenging. Jay
  23. Start with https://hhrvresource.com/. There's lots of useful information there, including state laws about converting an HDT to a motor home. Jay
