  1. Many campgrounds are still open, especially the Mom and Pop. You need to be self-contained as the "public" facilities are closed. I would do some calling ahead to confirm a CG vs. just winging it. If you are newbies you aren't ready for boondocking yet but there are plenty of boondocking locations out west.
  2. WE went the no id way and finished our census. Thanks all.
  3. I agree I could fill out the form I received but I want Livingston to get the benefit of our count. They sure need the money more so than Phoenix where we are now.
  4. We do have a form but it is for our winter location.
  5. Thanks Al. We tried that yesterday and couldn't get through. We'll see what shows up in our next mail in a few weeks.
  6. We tried and it wouldn't let us change our address. The form came in the mail, have no idea where to get a census form(probably closed anyway).
  7. Does anyone know if Escapees is going to include a census form in our mail? I looked on the site, searched for census and nothing was mentioned. We did receive a form where we are staying but would prefer to be counted in Livingston.
  8. Our storage unit required insurance and offered it, price was very high for the amount of insurance. That is why we went looking. Much less than we thought it would be.
  9. I think USAA changed their policy a few years ago and now accepts everyone. Give them a call, worst case is "no".
  10. We called USAA and they had no problems insuring our storage unit. I asked all the questions and they assured me everything is insured.
  11. Each person has their own perception of what type of campground they like for a longer stay. All we generally need is electricity, we are fine for up to a week on our tanks. All we want is a safe place to park. If you want to save money spend a few nights each week boon docking.
  12. Regarding PA, many times I have called up and asked for the PA price even though it was a weekend and have been granted it. I figure all they can say is NO.
  13. Thanks Bill. Busy gathering information to switch over next winter. Getting ready to head out for our summer touring.
  14. Other than Passport America, America the Beautiful passes I wouldn't make any other purchases until you have experience and see what RV lifestyle you want. If you join Escapees for mail then you have access to the Escapee parks across the country. There is always boon docking to help the budget. What $$ do you consider a limited travel amount for camping? That would help all of us with suggestions.
  15. I agree streaming isn't for everyone and it depends where you travel. We tend to be in remote locations with no internet or OTA stations. My frustration with streaming (this is all my perceptions) is that streaming is very confusing. I like having a guide and selecting the programs I want to see and record them so that I can look at them when I don't satellite. Streaming seems to be a multitude of pieces that you need to put together yourself and each piece is a subscription with cost. Maybe one day streaming will emulate satellite or cable with one overall coordinated service with a guide. I don't see that coming any time soon.
  16. Cable is useless for an RVer, we are talking satellite. This is an RV website.
  17. You need to jump through hoops to change your service address(and then you aren't successful), they no longer give the $35 a month discount, prices have been getting higher and higher.
  18. Thanks Dutch, just what we were looking for.
  19. Never heard of Spectrum. Are they new to the satellite arena? Cover all of the US?
  20. Now that ATT has announced essentially the death of Direct TV(wonder why they ever bought it?) we are planing to switch over to Dish. This had been in the back of our minds for a while now with the downhill customer service trend of Direct TV. We have a Winegard Traveler on our roof and another sat antenna that we use at our winter location. Figure we will switch over next winter. Have Dish do the winter location and get the conversion kit from Winegard for the Traveler. My question is what all is entailed to switch the Traveler to Dish. I couldn't find any directions online. Has anyone done this? Is it a DIY? Thanks
  21. Our son-in-law is selling a small trailer and his diesel Excursion. I will get more into.
