  1. I do not know how much overlap there may be in spot beams. If there was a second ABC affiliate, I would think it would show up in your channel guide. If you can stream video and have enough data in your cellular plan, the Locast Website says it is available in the Denver area. Check it out to see if it includes the local ABC station.
  2. We were at Peace River, Manatee and Three Flags in Feb. through the end of April. They were very accommodating. No problem social distancing at all. The Walmarts and other stores had procedures in place. Limits on how many people they let in, one way aisles, cleaning supplies for carts, distance markers at checkout, etc. Many had Senior hours.
  3. Travel restrictions and closures in place now may well change by September 10 and I think are very likely to be very different by December. Some states are imposing restrictions at the county level. Things can change very quickly with restrictions put in place or lifted.
  4. We were in Florida when the pandemic hit. The biggest problem for travelling was the restrictions and quarantines put in place by state and local governments. We had a number of reservations cancelled. Some with as little as two days notice. We stayed at three Thousand Trails/Encore parks in Florida and all were very accommodating. Laundry rooms were kept clean and cleaning supplies were available. There were user limits, but we never encountered anyone else in the laundry room. People seemed to just wait their turn. The shortages at stores made it difficult to get everything in one trip. It often took several stops or days to get every item needed. Purchase limits and lack of storage in the RV seemed to increase the need for shopping trips. Many small businesses and places of interest were closed. We are hoping to be able to spend time in Florida in late winter again this coming year.
  5. It is. It is just across the highway from the Buffalo Thunder Casino. Last time we stayed there they had free limo service to the casino. Their truck stop had good fuel prices for the area also. The Casino website says the casino is closed. The Good Sam website says Road Runner is open for overnite stays call for more information. The link from the casino web page for the campground would not work for me.
  6. It seems to be very popular judging from the reviews. Never stayed there. We have stayed at Rancheros de Santa Fe and the KOA that is North on I-25 towards Glorieta. Both were adequate. It has been a few years since we have been in the area, but the last time we were there, there was a small RV park in Pecos. North of Pecos on the road to Cowles, there were boondocking spots along the river, a wildlife management fishing access area with about 6 spots and two Forest Service Campgrounds (Field Tract and Holy Ghost, I think). Have seen some pretty good size 5th wheels going up and down the road to Holly Ghost campground.
  7. I have a feeling that the boom may be relatively short lived. RV sales were going down in 2018 and 2019. If as the articles seem to indicate the increase in sales and rentals is the result of people still wanting to travel, their interest in RVing may wain as their previous types of travel become available again. In my opinion, Rving is more work than staying in a motel or bed and breakfast. There have been numerous discussions on this and other RV forums the past couple of years about RV sites becoming harder to find. Infrastructure like campgrounds and RV parks can not respond to changes in demand nearly as fast as RV production. Public campgrounds like state and national parks in popular destinations that take reservations were often booked months in advance even before the current situation. For families, facilities and programs at campgrounds and other points of interest may be reduced or not available at all. How that will work out for all the new RVers this summer is yet to be seen. There was a statement in one of the articles that most of the sales have been in small towable RVs (I'm guessing lower price point), which have always dominated production in recent years. There have been many discussions about quality control. Will that suffer with ramped up production? Will that affect the longevity of new RVers in the community? I have read statements on this forum speculating that relatively few fulltimers last long term in the lifestyle. I suspect that is also true for many vacation RVers. Like everything else about the current situation and the future, it is mostly unknown.
  8. Don't know about the HOP, but the 2020 Balloon Fiesta has been postponed to 2021.
  9. According to the COE's Cochiti Lake Website, the area is closed until further notice. There is a campground at the Isleta Casino South of Albuquerque. There is Black Mesa campground at the casino in San Felipe. It is electric only, with water and dump available. Not sure if it is open, the website said the casino is closed. Turquoise Trail RV Park is a little East of Albuquerque. Coronado Campground is North of Albuquerque.
  10. You can buy OEM and after market sensors for the GM system and install them in the trailer tires. I seem to recall an option to get a pressure monitor in the spare. However; I have no idea how many sensors the OEM monitoring device can handle, but would be a little surprised if it is more than seven which would be how many tires a dual rear wheel truck with spare would have. Another common issue with pressure monitors on trailers is reception. Some systems come with or have optional repeaters to boost the signal from tires distant from the monitor. As Ray mentioned an after market system that could read and display the OEM sensor data and additional sensors may or may not be available.
  11. The description of the WIFI Camp Pro 2 that I read describes it as a booster/repeater. If your use of it introduces another wifi hop (i.e. repeating the signal) in your chain, then some reduction in speed is typical although 75% seems high. The device I saw on Amazon looked like it had an external radio and an internal hotspot. If the hotspot is a router with an ethernet port, try connecting your computer to that and see if you get better speeds. Some wifi devices like the Ubiquiti Nano Station that I use have more sensitive receivers and more powerful transmitters than most computers or handheld devices. The Nano Station can be used as a wifi adapter connected directly to a computer or to a router by ethernet cable. It can greatly improve connectivity to weak wifi signals and usually provides better speed than the device in the computer. If connections to a router are made by wifi, there is usually some reduction in speed that is inherent in the repeating process. Note that a strong or stronger wifi signal may not mean faster speeds. The capability of the wifi system and the demands of users will also affect the speed available.
  12. It is not just soda, but beer also. This article suggests that the shortage is a combination of increased demand for cans due to the decrease in sales at restaurants, etc, and hording.
  13. There are campgrounds at COE Projects in some of the New England States, Not all are managed by the Corps, but some are. Some are managed by state agencies. Links for Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont. Whether the sites are large enough for an HDT rig and have the amenities that one wants/needs is something that each has to determine for themselves.
  14. You seem to have read more into the statement than I did: To me this does not clearly recommend/state that they should not be used. I have seen people with masks with valves just about everywhere I have gone. So it seems the message that these masks are not appropriate has not gotten out.
  15. Still seems to be some conflicting information about who should wear what masks. From an article by the Mayo Clinic: This statement makes no sense to me seeming to imply that it is an acceptable risk that health care providers use a mask that doesn't prevent spread to patients or each other. I would think they would strongly recommend against using any mask with an exhaust valve.
  16. I have towed with a Hensley for 13 years. Because you are putting a square peg in a larger square hole, they have to be parallel and on the same plane. This does take more precision than simply positioning the hitch ball under the trailer tongue which can even be done at an angle.. I have found that hitching with the Hensley works best when the trailer and tow vehicle are in a straight line. Putting some tape on the trailer to mark the proper position when looking in the side view mirrors helps a lot. A review camera also helps a lot. I hook up by myself all the time. It does take getting out of the truck to raise/lower the trailer tongue and adjust the angle of the Hensley receiver using the screw jacks. Not much experience with 5th wheels but believe they have to be backed straight into the receiver.
  17. Welcome to the Escapees Forum!! Also read this article about trailer length. Good luck in the search for the right RV for you.
  18. It is showing up as naturally acquired SARS-CoV-2 infections in domestic animals and farmed or captive wildlife.
  19. I would suggest getting weights on both the trailer and the truck. Individual wheel weights if at all possible. Many travel trailers depend on tongue weight in additional to the axle ratings to achieve the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of the trailer. Too little tongue weight may result in one or both axles or tires being overloaded. A tongue weight of 10-15% is usually recommended for travel trailers. I towed our current 34', 10,000# trailer with a long bed crew cab 2500 and now 3500 SRW long bed crew cab. The tongue weight of the trailer is normally between 1,100-1200#. The 2500 needed about 3/4 tension on the 1200# spring bars of the WDS. The 3500 needs about 1/4.
  20. I have used a batwing in the down position at times and it works OK for some stations. The batwing is directional. When down it can not be rotated. That will affect its effectiveness. I suspect that the metal and current in the solar panels may also affect the reception.
  21. Thanks to everyone that responded to this topic. Here is an update on what I have found out appicable to my situation and current equipment.. My Samsung phone and tablet are not capable of connecting by HDMI to a TV. They do have a feature called Smart View that will connect to my Roku devices by WIFI. The connection can be finnicky. Not a big problem with Netflix and other videos that can be replayed. It can be annoying if watching live programming. Using Smart View seems to take a faster connection than just watching on the device. Some apps are somehow able to detect that the screenshot is being projected and will not allow it instructing you to watch on the device. When using the Smart View feature, battery drain is an issue. If the phone/tablet is plugged into the charger, they overheat and shutdown in an hour or less. If I need to use the Sleek to improve cell signal, overheating is also an issue and adds to the problem if the device needs to be charged. Thanks again to all those that responded.
  22. According to this description the Americus All terrain 265/70 R18 has a load index of 116 and Load Range SL. According to this chart, a load index of 116 is 2756#. This article provides an explanation of what the Load Range: SL designation means. The Goodyear Wrangler 265/70R18 tires on my truck have a load index of 124/121; 3527# single, 3197# dual; Load Range E.
  23. Not all campgrounds have single lane roads. If you stop in one lane, traffic can still get by in the other. If the sites are long enough, pull into an empty site near yours or even your site head first. Unhook the toad and back it out. Back the motorhome out and then back it into your spot. Move the toad if necessary and you are done while minimizing the disruption to traffic. In my experience traffic in a campground is generally greatest in the morning as folks leave or go to work and late afternoon as folks start to pull off the road and others come home from work or sight seeing. We have found that arriving at an overnight spot by about 3PM is a good time. As mentioned those with trailers (like us) often have to block or partially block campground roads as they park and unhitch. It's just part of campground life.
  24. As you can see, everyone has developed their on routine for travel and has their own favorite method for finding overnight stops. In my experience, no one source includes every campground/RV Park so check them all out and find which ones work best for you. Our dogs (we've had 4 that RVed and as many as 3 at one time) can usually last longer than we can before needing to take a break. They all really enjoyed sitting out with us in the evening so we have found Walmart, truck stops and other blacktop boondocking sites less than ideal. One notable exception is some NM rest areas which have separated parking spots with picnic table and BBQ grill and a 12-24 hour stay limit. On the US and state highways, rest areas are often few and far between; but we have found some good ones and they are rarely crowded. In campgrounds and even in the boondocks, keep a close eye on the dogs as there may be dogs running loose or critters that can cause harm. Take your dogs' medical records and vaccination certificates with you. Some campgrounds may actually ask to see them. Should you need to find a vet while travelling, there is a chain co-located with some Petsmart stores. We have had good luck with vets recommended by the campground owner or staff. One last thing that we found about travelling with dogs, changes in the water such as the amount of chlorine can give them gastric problems. We have a charcoal filter in the fresh water line and than use a Brita pitcher for their drinking water. We still have a problem occasionally and keep Pepto tablets and a pet formula of Kaopectate on hand, both of which work well.
