Ved12 starts but runs rough

I would start at the two connections at the ECM, and the 12 volt and ground connections at the batteries.

The ECM wants good clean 12 volts and grounds to operate correctly.

I would want to make quite certain the ring terminals were in great shape.

Did you happen to also clean the corresponding ground wires as well?

You will also want to retrace the steps that were done during the extended service.

Measure to see if the voltage at the source is the same as the voltage at the ecm.  Same with the ground.  Only a very slight difference (voltage drop) is acceptable.  For example, read the voltage across the battery terminals, and again across the ecm terminals.  Any difference more the a couple tenths/volt is indicating a poor connection.

    I am tired.

Working on our Cummins n14.   Just got another. Rebuilt ecm this am

Was desperate for a wiring harness. Ordered one yesterday.   But there is no record of it in existence at the parts place. Ordered from Flagstaff. Called them     It is none existent in our system the parts person said.

Parts place just called. Said it would be there by 10:30 am.....

I have another one to be delivered tomorrow also.

Slow down and read,      I will.  I will.   Once I Rest up

Rick, you know of any good mobile truck repair services in our area?  I'm in Okeana, OH,  not too far from Harrison, oh.

There's Jerry's Truck and Diesel on Kilby. 513-367-2502 I think.  I'd call Engel's Towing up in Colerain and ask for a recommendation.  Jimmy or his dad, Jim, will steer you right.

That said, I'm no meckenik, but I enjoy a challenge.  Will you be around Friday or Saturday?  I need to run to Harrison anyway, so I'll be half way there.  Call me. 513-284-6927.  If I don't answer, leave a message.

If you haven't changed the oil soaked harness to the ecm, I'm betting it's the culprit. Not an inexpensive fix. Similar to what SuiteSuccess just went through. Mine was a couple of summers ago.
