Work Starting on Truck - Singling, ET Hitch, Wiring and Sport Utility Bed - Phase 1

Hello All!!!!!

As I type this I am extremely excited! I just spoke with Jack Mayer and he is about to start work on my truck. I am getting it singled, wired, ET hitch and Sport Utility bed put on. This is phase 1. I will have him do more down the line but this is where I am now.

I have to give Jack all the credit in the world. I started working with him in the summer of 2020. I flew back home. The town where I grew up is Pittsburg Kansas, it is 45 miles east of Dennis Kansas, so having Jack do the truck at RVH Lifestyles is great. I go home to see the truck and then spend a week with my parents. Anyway Jack visited with me for over an hour the first time we met. The following summer 2021 I took my mom and dad to meet him and see his facility. Once again Jack gave us a tour answered countless questions and was great at customer service. I then drove the semi from Vegas to Dennis Kansas last summer. Jack gave us all a tour around the facility and showed us his paint room. Each time we went to see Jack we were there for more than an hour walking looking and touring.

As work progresses and Jack sends me pictures I will post the progress of my truck. Singling the back end starts next week. I forgot to ask if it was being singled short or long.

I am probably going to start asking lots of questions about smart cars now. Please forgive me if the questions are stupid. I know nothing about them.

Later,

Cory Ossana - Vegas Teacher.

If you are planning on using a Smart and loading it on the bed, singling short is NOT a likely option.

I am in the process of doing similar.  I am planning some bed mods as I need to extend my bed and move my hitch back to accomodate my new to me trailer and haul the Smart.  I am going to keep my truck tandem, as I dont know what the future holds for my truck, but I did choose to run only outside tires and left the inner rims on the truck.  Rides very well and only 4 tires.

I have so much faith in Jack and his work. In Vegas we do not get a lot of good service or honest people. Yesterday my wife took out Subaru Outback in to get the free oil change. When she was called to the service counter they told her we needed new tires. Discount Tire just put brand new tires on in December, I am just tired of that level of incompetence I am seeing out here in several parts of our town. Casino's used to be the best place to go for customer service here, now the service at the casino is terrible too.

Following and looking forward to the future posts, pictures and details. Congrats

Can you remind us what is the make / model of your truck and what you will be pulling with it?

I have a 2010 Volvo 780 I shift transmission just shy of 1 million miles. 954,891 miles I believe. It is orange.

Jack is awesome. When you were there you were only 45 minutes from my home town. Did you see any signs with Pittsburg Kansas on them?

I think Jack is one of the most friendly people I have done business with in a very long time. He worked with me for 2 years prior to me dropping off my truck last summer and has been a great person to work with since I have dropped my truck off. When you were there did you see my truck? It was the orange one with the Vegas plate on the front of it.

How are your truck and trailer doing? I know you went through a lot last year and are more than likely on the other side of it now. I hope all is good for you!

Well if you make it to Vegas some time let me know, we need to make a trip to Big Dogs again, they have a new "Tap Room" there now and the selection of beer is very good.

I definitely saw your rig sitting their.  I made mention of it to Jack.  My rig is still plugging along.  I just got back from a 4000 mile trip the other day.  The new trailer is great and I am very happy with it.
