I can see why the lights would deter them. There's a YouTube out there of a RVer putting down lights under his rig and it showed packrats running over and around them having a ball! If one puts down lights and they don't have packrats that doesn't mean they'd have packrats if they had no lights. We stayed a long period of time in one place on public lands and never had packrats.
