Ski
Our fifth wheel living room sideout does not have rollers. When it come in, it tilts up a little and glides over the carpet. We were told to stay with carpet. If not, as the side comes in it would scar the vinyl or wooden floor. Makes sense to me. However, we would if possible, like to get rid of the carpet. Is there a non scaring flooring product we could use? Al 2008 Holiday Rambler 36' Floral City, FL
GlennWest
Actually the vinyl planking will be lower than your carpet. rpsinc
Can install some Masonite runners when you work the slides to prevent flooring from being contacted. Or some thin acrylic sheet material cut into strips as runners. Quote Marcel

I've heard of people using inexpensive plastic placements for this purpose. rpsinc
Placements?? Or perhaps place mats? If so, a really good idea. Inexpensive and many have some non-slip backing. Quote Marcel

Monty
I replaced my carpet with hardwood a few years ago. So far no scratches or problems.
GlennWest
My carpet is roughly 5/8" thick. So planking rougly 1/8". You likely have to build up the mating area. This. no carpet at all in our house. and on your slides, you will need a 5/8 subfloor (if you have level slides with the carpet.)
