SuiteSuccess
Folks, Kim at Deer Run RV Resort where the ECR is held, informed me she has sold the campground to new owners. After 15 years of ownership she and Rolando wanted to move back to Florida where her mom lives. We wish her only the best. She assured me that part of the stipulation of the sale was that nothing associated with the East Coast Rally was going to change. A couple (not the owners) will be living on the property in the house that she and Rolando occupied and would be manning all our needs as before. She also asked to bear with this couple during the transition as they get up to speed. Anyone who has not made reservations still can by calling. Kim also assured me that returnees would still be able to reserve their sites for the next rally like before. She also informed me the new owners are beginning construction on several new sites that will accommodate big rigs so that we can hopefully get all attendees in the same location. Again we want to thank them for all she and Rolando did for the ECR. It was an honor to consider them friends. P.S. She is going to be available for consultation to the managers during the transition. rickeieio
Well, part of me is sad, but another part is happy for them. I had a chat with Kim about retirement, and how to exit a business, as we were leaving last spring. I hope it all works out for her, as she's certainly earned it. Kim and Rolando were working 12 hour days 7 days a week “in season”. Not my kind of retirement, lol. JPL
All good things must end and I hope for Kim and Rolando that now they really can enjoy a real retirement. She has always been helpful to the max and now we get to meet some new people. Looking forward to meeting them. Can't wait for the middle of April! Av8r3400
Why such a glum outlook on this. Kim and Rolando were (are) great people and served the ECR well. The new owners may be even better... RandyA
Guess I will have to spend my millions on land somewhere else. I would have loved to own that land and build a new house on the lake. But, I probably would have closed out most of the campground messing up the current camping activities. I hope the new owners are not as selfish as I would have been and carry on the facilities as Kim and Rolando have. It is a beautiful piece of land and surely is attractive to developers that could care less about campers. I hate to see them leave but understand how a 7-12 work schedule can lead to an early demise. May God bless them and give them a new life of enjoyment with less stress.
