kb0zke
Welcome to the forum. If you can post a picture of it and which year and model you have you may get a better response. In the meantime, do you have any manuals with your rig? That may answer your question. Our coach came with three notebooks full of information, since each appliance had a manual. Most newer rigs have hot water heaters that don't use a pilot light, but if yours is an older one it may have a pilot light. It sounds to me like it may be a way of lighting the pilot light from inside, rather than going outside with a lighter. Darryl&Rita
Don't play with it, until you have water in the heater. I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again. 2000 Kenworth T 2000 w/N-14 and 10 speed Gen1 Autoshift, deck built by Star Fabrication 2006 smart fourtwo cdi cabriolet 2007 32.5' Fleetwood QuantumPlease e-mail us here. Kirk W
Welcome to the Escapee forums! We are happy to help you so ask as many questions as you wish. There are two commonly found brands of RV water heater, the Suburban, and the Atwood. Each of them also come in several variations and models and they have both made several major changes to their water heaters over the years. It sounds like you have one of the models that require a pilot light, which isn't common in newer units but there are a few still being manufactured. There are several bits of information that you could share with us that would help identify what make & model that you have. The first would be the manufacturer's name and the model. On the outside of your RV, there should be an access door that looks similar to one of these. If you open it you should find a data plate inside of it that will tell you who manufactured it and list a model. The year of manufacturer of your Tioga will also be helpful in narrowing down exactly which water heater that you have. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years......
