The rubber tramp rendezvous is just one small part of the huge event that is Quartzsite in January. Unless you go down the particular road where they meet, you will never know they are there. Just like, if you never go down the road where they meet, you will never know there is a clothing optional group. Or an Escapees class group. Or a Sprinter-based RV group. Or a Bluebird bus group. Or the Escapee Boomers group. Or an off road riders group. Or an Xscapers group. Or a metal detector group. Or... The BLM lands around Quartzsite cover many, many acres. oldbutspry
Oh, ok. That's not real clear from this article. I was starting to think most people just went out there to get stoned.

But, in all the years I went to the RTR and other group gatherings I never saw anyone getting stoned. noteven
I enjoyed a number of great campfire conversations with many people from all walks of life at this year’s RTR. Shared some food, had a sociable drink or two, explained a bit of (low) tech I use to a couple people, made some friends to see again down the road. Can’t say I saw anyone get out of hand - drunk, stoned, running their mouth, or otherwise. When folks don’t care what your rig is or isn’t, your politics is or isn’t, your “group demographic” is or isn’t campin’ in the desert is a good time. "Are we there yet?" asked no motorcycle rider, ever.
