Big5er
Damn... that kinda sucks. I hate to say it but it seems that diversity if the only way to stay alive in today's business market. I know a guy that did commercial land clearing, branched off into sign making and bought some sort of fancy cutting machine that used a jet of water. The machine was like a plasma cutter using water but was real precision. Program the design into the computer and let it go. They found out what that machine could do and bought a second one and started cutting all sorts of metal and plastics. Then they started building poker tables for casinos. He says he isn't getting rich doing any one of them but when one goes slack the others keep them going. Big5er
No, that strategy would be like Forks. RV trailers and construction trailers. All are still "trailers". Thinking should have those ladies, used cars and, uh...gun racks. grumpydoc
Sorry to see this happen. The Stutzman family are fine upstanding people and they built an excellent product. They went out of their way to see that our coach was everything we wanted. Our coach was number 128 and I doubt they built more than a few dozen after ours so there are probably less than 200 on the road. Some years ago we bought a couple of Sunline travel trailers built in Amish country in PA and they went out of business. Then we bought one of the last Tetons built before they went out of business. And now Forks is out. Maybe we should buy some of the cheap junk coming out of Elkhart and see if it has the same effect. Probably no such luck. phoenix2013
Tough to sell Mercedes quality RVs in an industry used to building Yugos. Nothing wrong with a Yugo if you graduated to one from a donkey, but I thought we passed the donkey stage long ago. Sad, I met Eric Stutzman at the last HDT Rally they exhibited at, outstanding young man.
grumpydoc
Just read an article in RV Business sent by the Teton Club to members and it quoted Eric Stutzman saying the down turn in the US oil field business really hurt Forks. A lot of their business was building mobile offices etc for that segment of the energy industry. An auction was 3/29/17 to liquidate material assets, supposedly the rights to the Continental Coach name may be for sale at a later date, Best Wishes, Jay 2015 Continental Coach Elegance by Forks RV, 41'; 2015 FL M2 112, DD 13, by 2L Custom Trucks; Trailer Saver air hitch; '48 Navigoddess with a Rand McNally GPS

Dollytrolley
John, We had to drive over the hump from Last Chance Peak into Vegas for out Costco fix and we drove past that pimp in your post, of course Dollymomma made some snide remark about the ........."variety" of "employees" the pimp had out "working" but of course I was busy driving and looking out for my fellow careful-Vegas-drivers so I didn't see the hair colors........shucks John come to think about it......I didn't see you there either .......... Vegas is a lot a things........lota ............"diversity"........... Every sector needs a couple of quality players and these are the folks that bring the innovation the the market that allow the low quality players to make poor quality imitation copies that tend to drain the profit margins of the few quality players........sad but fairly common. Lots of folks line up to buy cheep stuff that looks fair till it gets off the lot.......
