Wanderin
Well, it's over. We've been fed and also hit the pre-Black Friday sales. Best Buy had a huge, huge line but we toughed it out and ended up with a new computer. Now the hard part comes ................... setting it up. Of course, I've lost most everything on my old computer so I get to start again. Maybe I'll remember to back up more often in the future. Onthego
Well, we now have two window awnings replaced. Still hoping our other awning gets repaired before we pull out of here on Tuesday. They've had almost 3 weeks to do it and it's already been paid for so our fingers are crossed. My computer died yesterday and I'm not a happy camper about that. I might be in the Black Friday crowds looking for a deal ... haven't decided yet. And, Happy Thanksgiving from Orlando, Florida. Tina updated ours with Windows 10 a week ago. Now it's doing some crazy things. It's gone to a blank screen twice then things reappear after a while. Hope they get your awning fixed before you want to leave. IYQ
I backed up my computer about 30 years ago. Or was that my abacus? I have a Windows XP computer that still works but I'm currently using a Windows Vista. I bought a Windows 8.1 and hated it so I gave it away. I have an iPad and don't like that any better. I have an Android tablet and use it more than any of the others. I have an external hard drive with about 15,000 photos on it but haven't fired it up in so long I'm not sure I remember how to access it. I think my computer days are over. I use my phone to look up stuff and the tablet when I have to write something, like now. I haven't started the Navion lately so I drove it to lunch this afternoon. I think it's time to scratch the hitch itch again. It would be like buying a car and having to put the engine in it before you could drive it away.....CRAZY! Arrrrrrrrr!!! Isn't that the truth. hdrider
I thought I was smart and put a bunch of the files I want to make sure were safe on scan cards only to find out that when my computer crashed I had to get a new one the files would not load into the new operating system some how. I keep all our pictures on those little scan memory cards or flash sticks and take pictures of screens that have things like all my contacts and web sites I like to visit. Not really a sophisticated way to do it but you do what you can I guess. Diane's laptop is I a terrible way now and she has wanted to just get a android tablet for the last few months and we probably need to do it sooner than later while we can still see her stuff on the tablet LOL!! They had one on a Black Friday deal and we could have saved $50 IF we wanted to shop on Black Friday but I REFUSE to do it, even for $50. I think we will get it from Amazon at our next stop and be done with it. Thanks duke and so does any team that faces Iowa! If you caught one of their games this season, you would have to come away impressed by how balanced they are on defense and offense. IYQ
I went into town this morning for breakfast. After breakfast I was passing WalMart and noticed very few cars in the parking lot. I went in and walked around just looking. There were still a lot of things on sale and shelves were well stocked. Yesterday you couldn't even get in the parking lot. Makes me wonder about those people that get up early and stand in line on Black Friday. Today is a bummer weather wise. It's still in the 40s and it's almost 1 PM. All my windows are fogged up so I can't see anything. There are football games on TV but I just can't get interested in any of them. All my friends are down in Mexico at the pink store so there isn't anyone to shoot the bull with. I think it's going to be a Steve Day. At least you got your replacement computer in a timely manner. When my iPad died on December 23rd last year my credit card companies thought I was not me so I had trouble buying the replacement one. But I had backed up the iPad to my computer so reinstalling was easy and the Apple Store staff even did it for me since I brought everything with me to the store. I sure do appreciate having a laptop instead of a desktop now. lynlou
Ed has decided to join the computer crowd, so with my limited knowledge I have been setting up his computer and teach him what I know, which isn't a lot. lol I did set him up a facebook page. I have upgraded both of our computers to Windows 10. It seems to be pretty good. Windows 8 was horrible. On another note, it has been freezing here in Texas. Wish it would stop raining and get a little warmer Makes gate guarding really hard. When this gate is done, we are heading down to the southern part for a month. Hope it's warmer down there. Would it eat up a lot of your data? Thats why I haven't done it. I have an RV friend that lost all the data on his computer a few months ago. He thought he was safe because he had Carbonite. However, after hours and hours of a download, the information from Carbonite was corrupted. He lost it all. I'm not a fan of uploading a lot of data on the web anyway. However, I know tons of folks do it. I have a couple large drives that I occasionally back up my info on. However, my occasional backup isn't as often as it should be. Onthego
Tina thought she had installed Windows 10 a week ago. Our computer has gone blank screen 3 times since. Yesterday morning was the last time. While I went to watch drag racing at Palm Beach International Raceway yesterday Tina played with the computer. After several hours it came back to life, did a down load now the home page is different. Windowns 10 must not have completed the down load the first time. Seems OK right now. GO BRONCOS!!!
