We were getting close to heading up into Co. But after reading your entry Jeff I think we will just continue due West. Like yoy we have been in hot weather for a few weeks so moving here to Santa Fe we figured would be a nice break. But moving farther north and getting into snow might be a bit more cool than we want LOL!! Enjoy!!

We are back in the world of internet and cell phones!! Just spent 7 days up in the mountains visiting Yosemite. We went up the east side in Groveland. Would not do that again. Yosemite is beautiful (pictures are on my blog) but being without cell phones and internet was driving me nuts. We are now at the Tracy Elks. Full hook ups $20 per night.

Welcome back. I could not do seven days without connection. It amazes me now how long I fought even getting a cell phone and how connected I now need to be.

Dave, it didn't snow that much. Just got the road wet and the rv and Jeep dirty. Suppose to be wet Sunday, our next travel day. Going back over the mountains to Pueblo.

Travel safe everyone.

Shame on you guys using all those dirty words in here. Well, I'll let you off the hook this time but only because I'm guilty too. And if it don't stop blowing around here I'm going to be a whole lot more guilty. It wasn't too bad today only 24mph. Maybe I can find something good to talk about tomorrow. About all I got done today is take my laundry in and go get it again. I still have to refold it. They never fold it to fit in my wardrobe. Now remember no more of those four letter words especially ones that start with S.

You need to get out and explore more of the good ol' U.S. of A. Charley. LOL!

Just a couple of weeks ago I was in 100 degree temps in Big Bend National Park, Texas. As Roger says you have the wheels come on out and see the USA. How you doing Charley?

Jeff

Florida is part of the USA! LOL!

Gonna summer in familiar territory. TN, VA & WV. Exploring the rest is gonna have to wait until at least the Fall and probably next year.

came close to having armadillo stew in your honor Jeff but it wasn't quite fresh enough. LOL! Otherwise doing great!

Not sure why the link didn't work in the last post...perhaps because I was using Linda's quote?

Move yesterday from Albuquerque to Montrose, Co. There was weather moving in so wanted to miss it. Unfortunately there was road construction between Silverton and Ouray that delayed our trip. We sat on top of Red Mountain Pass (11,075 ft.) by big snow banks for a couple of hours. We watched tv and had dinner. Then it started to snow and hard too. Decided better move on to mile marker 87 and get in the line. Snowed all the way down to the construction zone. The snow stopped just before the line started to move. The road was just wet. What a beautiful drive. I've been on Hwy. 550 a few times before and it is spectacular.

Travel same everyone.

Good eye on that one Jeff! Always been a controversial thing...

"By the time of World War I, the towns of Davenport, Rock Island, and Moline had begun to style themselves as the Tri-Cities, a cluster of three more-or-less equally sized river communities growing around the small bend of the Mississippi River where it flows west. But with the growth of Rock Island County, during the 1930s the term Quad Cities came into vogue, as East Moline was given "equal status." Then, with the opening of an Alcoa plant east of Davenport in 1948, the town of Bettendorf underwent so much growth that many people in the community discussed the adoption of the name Quint Cities.[9] And indeed, eventually Bettendorf passed East Moline in size. But by this time, the name "Quad Cities" had become known well beyond the area, and "Quint Cities" never caught on, despite the efforts of WOC-TV (as KWQC-TV was then called) and others."

Yeah, well the town of Bettendorf is younger than I am so it was not included when the Quad Cities were named that. It's still just a kid, you know, not worthy of sitting at the table with the grownups.

A pretty nice day today. I got some walking in then to top it off I took four cowgirls out to dinner tonight. I have to catch up after not being able to do anything for the past couple of weeks, it's mostly clear tonight but the gibbous waxing moon makes it a poor night for observing. So that leaves reading for tonight. It's hard to type when I have both hands over my ears to keep from hearing those four letter S words you guys have been using. I thought Quad city meant they had made trails for the four wheelers all over town. We are planning a dinner for all the ladies here for Mother's Day. The guys are going to fix steaks and/or chicken. We have a few vegetarians here. I don't know what they are fixing for them. I told the ranch manager to get some long stem roses and place one at each of the ladies plates and that I would pay for the roses. I hope he can find them this late in the game. And a Happy Mother's Day to all the ladies in the classless class.

My get up and go didn't get up this morning. I've been dragging around here all day. I did get to the store today so I have stuff for breakfast tomorrow. Let's see now how can I say this without cussin'. The movement of atmospheric molecules wasn't too bad today. The strongest gust was only 21 MPH but it's predicted to get up to 50MPH tomorrow. I think I'll be staying in. The dinner we have planned for the ladies is inside thank God. You guys better take your gals out to the best place in town or you'll be sleeping in a pup tent out back.

Dave would be more likely to be in that tent if he'd made me go out to a mobbed restaurant full of screaming kids today. We went out yesterday instead.

I had a little more get up and go today but was afraid if I went outside I'd be crawling on my hands and knees trying to get back from Texas or Oklahoma. Not to mention all the clean up work from getting see sick. It was really rocking and rolling around here today. The Mother's Day dinner when off well however I didn't go but got reports that we served 17 and the steaks were tremendous. About 2" thick and covered the whole plate. I haven't had a chance to talk to the manager yet but I don't think he was able to get the roses I ordered. No wonder I'm bad I can't even be good when I try. Oh well life goes on and other occasions will be coming. I'll try again. I went down town to eat dinner myself and would have been better of if I'd stayed here and had a peanut butter sandwich. I got a half rack of ribs and they were ice cold. I had to send them back twice to be heated. Plus the restaurant was packed. Both my favorite restaurants were closed today. I told the management they had better give the kitchen help a good talking to about food safety plus about the business they were running off. I know they were swamped with all the Mother's Day crowd but that is no excuse for serving meat straight from the frig. It's a good way to give half the town food poisoning. Hush Lee quityourbellyaching. Ok

AAAGGGGHHHH! This why we left beautiful Colorado. We want more Summer. This is one reason why I don't like reservations. We have reservations at Cherry Creek State Park starting today in Aurora. They could have up to 10" of s--- ( that's for you Lee) and a high temp of 37 today. Going in the 20's tonight. Sitting here west of Pueblo, Co. waiting for the highways to clear so we can get to the Park. 2 electric heaters and the house furnace are working to keep us warm. Three weeks from now we'll move on and I hope we find Summer soon.

Travel safe everyone.

Thanks for considering my tender ears Jeff. I wish we could combine our weather it was flat hot here yesterday which made it particularly bad with all the blowing sand. So far today the weather is perfect just a breeze at 10 to 15 MPH and 73 degrees. I can take a lot of that. I'm dragging my feet about heading north to the mountains. I'll wait till it starts hitting the 90's every day and I'm forced to turn on the AC.

I got in a good walk this morning. My breath seems to be coming back slow but sure. I have to walk pretty slow but I made it for 3/4 of a mile. I'm trying to stay awake after I walk in the morning. So far so good. I'll sit out in back of my trailer and watch the birds today and see if I can stay away from that bed. After all one Steve is about all this group can stand. LOL.
