  1. I hope by now, everyone knows not to take anything from "The Onion" seriously!
  2. I think you're talking about slide seal conditioner, but I don't know which brands they might have discussed in boot camp. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=rv+slide+seal+conditioner
  3. Or use the stock bolts with castle nuts, drilling a small hole through the bolts for a cotter pin.
  4. Yes, that's the basic idea. I have no idea how long this type of toilet has existed.
  5. The bags are part of a cartridge that uses a twisting motion to seal each flush, and the entire cartridge is disposed of when full. I've linked a couple of videos below that show more clearly how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2ogLEdE04Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6fH73zu5p0
  6. The cartridges for the Laveo system mentioned in the article cost about $15 each. Each one can handle 15-17 flushes, so the cost is about $1 per flush.
  7. That's definitely better than sitting in the car! Years ago before we started fulltiming, we went through a several month stretch without the use of our home washer and dryer while we were remodeling our "exit plan to be" Adirondack cottage. When it was time to hit the laundromat, we would take our then 21' Class C instead of the car. As you said, "All the comforts..."
  8. Since you have three lines from the same MVNO, they all use the same APN, so switching SIM's between devices is not a problem. I don't know if US Mobile uses the standard "VZWINTERNET" Verizon APN or has been assigned it's own by Verizon or not. Tracfone phones using Verizon towers for instance, use the standard "VZWINTERNET" APN, however Verizon's Visible subsidiary uses its own "VSBLINTERNET" APN. I have three devices that have the APN set to Visible, and my Visible SIM can be transferred to any of them with no other changes needed.
  9. We never sit in a laundromat to wait for our clothes to finish. We go in and get the loads started, noting the time for the first one to finish and repair to our air conditioned car for the duration. When the wash finish time approaches, I go back in and transfer the clothes to the dryers and once again note the time remaining before returning to the cool car where we continue listening to music and reading our books until it's time to to fold and go.
  10. For private parks, I expect the courts would see an RV age limit as coming under the same umbrella as the "We reserve the right to deny service..." rules where only discrimination by race, color, creed, etc., carry some validity.
  11. It would depend on how much of a stickler the park is to their rules I expect. If they have some wiggle room and your Prevost is in good shape, ok. Otherwise...
  12. We are considering dropping XM in favor of using Pandora exclusively, so we'll see what happens. Instead of using my current phone, I have a couple of older phones that are inactive for cell service, but work fine with the onboard Internet in our vehicles for apps like Pandora.
  13. The only time I've been asked the age of our motorhome was in 2007 when we were "test camping" a 1986 Toyota based Dolphin 21' Class C that we had refurbished to flip. The clerk at a KOA asked the year simply because he wondered if it was the same age as his sister's Toyota/Dolphin.
  14. I agree it would be nice to have Starlink car units, and hopefully that's in the works for future release. All we did when our free 6 months were up was to a negotiate a deal with XM for the "Mostly Music" plan that gave us two vehicle coverage for the normal rate for one. They usually renew it at the same half-price deal, but sometimes I have to make the "Cancel me" call to get it renewed.
  15. They reportedly do have terminals designed for vehicle and marine use in development. The last report I saw said the vehicle units would be too big for passenger car use, but ok for RV and large truck use.
  16. We stay in many parks for a night or two with our now 21 year old Class A while in transit to our preferred state and national park campgrounds. In some, I've noticed they do have 10 or 15 year age rules, but only apply them to long term stays of a month or more. We've never been turned away at any park for a short stay, but then we don't look for high end parks with all the amenities we won't use.
  17. The solution might be as simple as covering the lettering with clear nail polish.
  18. Yes it might, just as it is for humans at times. But each time one AI passes along a new situation and solution to other AI's, unlike humans, the whole system gets better.
  19. With AI controlled cars humans won't need to foresee every possible scenario because they learn from new experiences. And not just their own, but from other AI's experiences as well. Limited Level 5, or if you prefer Level 4+, AI controlled cars are already in large scale testing and use with no safety drivers on board.
  20. Did you read Rivian's response to Derek? They clearly say the procedure is for emergency charging only.
  21. Charging while going forward with the selector set to reverse might make more sense when you consider that a most DC electric motors can become a generator when spun in reverse by an external force.
  22. When the car makers reach full Level 5 capabilities, the manual driver controls will be removed and there will be no geo-fencing limiting where the vehicles can go. Waymo is currently operating a Level 4 self-driving taxi service in Arizona, where they've been testing autonomous cars without a safety driver in the seat for more than a year and over 10 million miles.
  23. This may be a little out of date, but I haven't found any changes. "Cheap U.S. gas: What's allowed when it comes to bringing extra fuel over the border?"
  24. Apparently Jim Park hasn't heard about laser filters for cameras and other applications. They're even available on eBay for a few dollars...
