  1. I finally got around to replacing my air dryer. Old one had a constant leak. Question, after the tanks fill and it does it’s vent, how long is normal for the purge close? The tanks fill. It vents and the pressure goes down to 100 on the front tank. Then the compressor kicks back on and the cycle repeats. The rear tanks stays full unless you are doing some braking. it’s about 35 seconds for this to occur.
  2. That's insane. He clearly wasn't aware of how much vehicle was behind him nor of closure rates. Things definitely happen fast.
  3. No. Not really. If it’s not occupied it’s not a problem. But as I stated, as long as there is an empty space between the one we may cross through and the next camper, they are not bothered. Also, as I stated, when you are in a campground, there really isn’t any privacy. Probably 98% are packed together. So whether you walk on the road right next to folks cooking dinner or on the backside of their camper is irrelevant. In fact you are actually providing them more campground privacy.
  4. On occasion we will walk through the unoccupied spaces. However, we usually don't walk in the empty one that is right next to an occupied site. Walking neighborly and leaving what little privacy they have in a campground. If we are out walking it's for the enjoyment of the area and exercise. We will get where we are going eventually.
  5. Awesome. I have been wanting to attend a rally. I am going to try and get things lined up to attend. Hopefully I can get a site that will fit both my rigs. If not maybe there is parking nearby for my toy. Chuck
  6. I pulled my house batteries out last night to put them on the charger. I checked them and they were both 13.13/14. They are original from 2017. I was thinking maybe just replace them since they are pushing 7 years old. Is it possible to have a good reading but have a bad cell? I am replacing the solenoid next week when I am off and have some time.

    DPF cleaning

Assuming my ceramic is not damaged, I am going to clean mine as follows. 1. Use blower and then compressed air to get as much loose stuff out as possible. 2. Soak using LA Awesome Cleaner. 3. Pressure wash/hose rinse until no more soot comes out. 4. Reassemble. If that works to clear the code that says the DOC is clogged and the ECM will let the REGEN occur, I am going to do 2-3 parked REGENS in a row. Hopefully it will work. I can't afford a new filter(s) right now. Have to save up.

    DPF cleaning

Yeah, I decided to just clean it out. I saw some videos where they pressure washed the DOC and DPF. If that works great. If not I’ll go get them baked. I saw a video where they busted the ceramic out. I’m not sure how that would work out during a regen with the high temps. I would assume it would be better to just unplug the EGR and DPF if you’re going to do that. Anyway, I’ll clean them and see how long that lasts.
  10. Ok. I checked the volts in between rain showers. It is 13.5 at the solenoid and only drops to 13.4 when you press the start button. bad solenoid?
  11. I haven’t done anything yet. I will check the volts tomorrow if it’s not raining. Thanks for the info. Hopefully it’s that easy. once it’s going again I will be starting it monthly.
  12. Thanks. I will have to make it a priority once I get it running again. Chuck
  13. Hello, I tried to start my generator today. No luck. It just made a solid click sound. It’s a Onan RV OG 4000 by Cummins. I am assuming maybe the start solenoid? I haven’t started it for six months or so. Ground looks a little corroded so I’ll clean that when I get a chance. Any other things I should check? Chuck
  14. That’s awesome. Enjoy! I have 3.5 years to go. I am tapping out at 62. after that no more major to-do items on the list for me. We’ll pay for those some how. The aches and pains afterwards are getting to be too much. Chuck

    DPF cleaning

Thanks Deezl Smoke. I have been using Pittsburgh Power Max Mileage. I will look around and see what else is out there. I talked to a guy who is a O/O and working for Landstar. He said it made a huge difference in how his engine runs and got better gas mileage. He said his engine actually runs quieter now. I plan on just cleaning the DOC and DPF since buying new are out of reach right now. If I can’t get them clean then I will go have them baked to see how that goes. It’s a never ending education on maintenance that’s for sure. Keeps the wheels turning. Chuck

    DPF cleaning

Got it. Thanks. I’ll just clean it and reassemble for now. Work schedule is keeping me busy as is the honey do list.

    DPF cleaning

So, I was going to do a regen analyzer test with my Cummins Insite software. But it wouldn’t do it because there was a code for the after treatment system. SPN 5018, FMI 11. I called the Cummins service center and they said it was the inlet side clogged with soot. I was wondering if I should or could leave the screen off once I disassemble the DPF and clean it up? And then leave it unplugged once reinstalled. I would also unplug the EGR after it is fully closed. Both of course would give me a check light, but I wouldn’t have to worry about it getting clogged again would I? Or should I just clean and reassemble and have it all plugged in? I appreciate your thoughts.
  18. Very nice. One day I'll get a nice building to fit all my toys.
  19. I took my engine oil and filter in and then asked them to do the transmission as well. After they were done it was over 700$. The oil I bought was around $350 and the recommended oil by Cummins. So I believe I got sham-wowed on mine as well. I am changing it myself next time. Chuck
  20. Ouch, agreed with that. It is $770 for a one-year Insite license.
  21. I got back on the computer today and changed the limit to 85. I figured that is good. Plus I wasn't sure if changing it to all zeros would remove any limit or not. So, I took the safe bet.
  22. Surely there is a software program for the PACCAR engine just as there is for the Cummins. If so, it would be worth it to do as I did and buy the license and do all the tests available. You can download the Cummins Insite for free, just have to buy the license which is good for one year.

    Injectors

Not sure about the Volvo engine, but, my Cummins ISX injectors are 300-400 apiece.
  24. What kind of engine do you have? I have Cummins and I bought a Insite Pro software license. It is super easy to change any of the listed parameters.
