  1. Is there a particular brand of Class C RV that is made with no dinette. I find them very uncomfortable and they take up alot of room. I know you can maybe remove them but sometimes there are essential RV components hidden under them Thank you
  2. It had been discussed in WA news to open the border for Canadians to cross but not US to go into Canada. Not sure if that happened but I am seeing more license plates.
  3. I am seeing some Canadian license plates in WA campgrounds. Welcome Back
  4. Wandering Labs is a free search tool for RV cancellations in parks that I am trying. There are others that are rated higher but I did not want to pay for the service. I think part of the issue with parks that do not have a limit on the length of stay is that they are becoming residential mobile home parks with RVs. That I do not see changing with the cost of housing.
  5. Linda I do know that parking is part of the issue. My little Class B takes much less electric than a couple in a larger rig and I am not usually in the park on my days off so I have offered them to rent out my site and even dry camp if need be. Supply and demand. I am finding some parks wanting to hire local and not give a parking spot at all.
  6. So I am working a temporary position at a hospital hired to work 20 hours a week in a state that has a $13.69 min wage I have done workamping in the past in many states for $10 but as a single am not able to find jobs that allow you to work only 20 hours a week. The total hours we are working has been cut since we have had trouble finding enough staff from 7 days a week 12 hours to 5 days a week 8 hours. Now I am only getting 7 hours a week. People are moving up to better wages and benefits in other hospital positions. I prefer the temp position but would like a few more hours. Next month someone else may quit and that may happen. It is a changing situation. I wish there were more opportunities for paid workamping at 20 hours a week for a single. Maybe employers need to be a bit more creative in their requirements
  7. If you become an Elks Club member there are good affordable RV parking options. I don't think the newer younger campers have discovered this yet Casinos are another option. casinocamper.com Faithfulparking.com is a new option starting in churches
  8. I am sure it is full by now. Near Pensacola FL
  9. I would suggest to those looking for help to lower the number of hours required to this older population. I realize that there is a limitation on the availability of RV sites which is why some singles are also overlooked but it may be time to be a little creative.
  10. They have been pumping gas throughout the pandemic when I have traveled. I believe rural areas have been exempted since before the pandemic since it was difficult for them to staff 24/7.
  11. I copied it from RV Lifestyles by Mike Wendland. Why are authorities shutting down boondocking? This is a reason why authorities are shutting down boondocking For starters, consider these recent stories about the shutting down of boondocking areas: · In Oregon, Trash, Human Waste, Forces Authorities on Oregon to Shut Down Dispersed Camping · In Utah overnight camping has been banned in Middle Fork because of trash, vandalism and rowdyism · Popular Colorado area closed to dispersed camping Those are just three examples. There are many more, from all over the US. There is a detailed interview with Drivin and Vibin More boondocking sites are shut down indefinitely. Here's the info: https://drivinvibin.com/.../wma-imposes-boondocking-ban.../ More boondocking sites are shut down indefinitely. 12. Temp agencies seem to work with employers rather than individuals. I have seen jobs advertised on Indeed that have happened to be recruiting through an agency. Use temporary as a search item. I believe the Beet Harvests are done through a temp agency and I have worked as a contact tracer through a temp agency. Cruise ships sometimes hire shore staff through temp agencies but not this year.
  13. I saw on Volunteer.gov that camp hosts are being recruited for Fort Pickens campground for the fall. Nice place if you are looking
  14. Sounds like the Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccine is in process soon. The single dose will be much easier for those of us traveling. Hope we have that choice
  15. The latest from Escapees for those of us traveing. The most frequently asked question among RVers about the coronavirus vaccine is, “can I receive the vaccine in a state if I’m a resident of a different state?” So far, we are not aware of any state that has explicitly imposed residency requirements or required patients to show proof of residency. And at least two states, Arizona and Florida, have specifically said that residency will not be a requirement for vaccination in their states While the vaccines are still in short supply, Escapees recommends that once RVers receive their first dose, they remain in the same geographic area and plan to return to the same vaccination site for their second dose. (Some counties and vaccination sites are actually making appointments for and/or reserving second doses when you receive your first dose.) Doing so will help to ensure that you’re able to get your second dose of the same vaccine at the right time. Each vaccination will be recorded in the CDC’s Vaccine Tracking System, which allows health care providers to know who got their first shot and what kind it was and when they should get their second. But as a backup, you’ll also receive a card after your first dose that tells you which vaccine you got and when you should come back for your second dose. It’s also a good idea to take a picture of the card with your phone in case you lose your card. escapees.com/coronavirus/vaccine/
  16. Burdened Arizona hospitals turn away ambulances, transfers https://apnews.com/article/public-health-arizona-coronavirus-pandemic-doug-ducey-b7ae89f2a67c1e8731d02624939b6f46 Just an FYI in response to this comment earilier " If some one needs urgent care in Parker or in the outlying areas they will load them on to a life flight and fly them to Tucson or Phoenix." SInce the AP article hospitals have eliminated elective procedures to try to help. Also if you have SKymed you are required to have a negative COVID test before you are allowed to be flown out. (see discussion under health in RVNETWORK)
  17. Drivin and VIbn just put out a list of 10 over run Boondocking spots on 12/17. One of the sites in Quartzsite is listed (Plumosa Rd) as well as Craggy Wash in Lake Havasuhttps://drivinvibin.com/2020/12/17/boondocking-spots-overrun/Every January, this area is a mecca for RVers. Thousands gather for the annual RV trade show. This particular site is popular among boondockers for much of the year, except for when the extreme desert heat drives them toward colder climes. With record crowds, it’s obvious that many RV enthusiasts decided this year to find out what all the fuss is about.
  18. I was looking into Skymed. It appears that should I need transport I cannot be transported if I have COVID. I was thinking about it now since the hospitals where I am are full and it would be nice to have the option to be transported back to my home state. Guess that is not currently an option. Even if you end up in the hospital in an emergency accident it is probably pretty likely you could test positive at this point in time. Any comments about Skymed for future reference after COVID. Anyone with current experience using the service in the pandemic
  19. The area I saw was closer to the Pleasant Valley Airport on the north side of the highway. Just dirt with about 5 RVs scattered
  20. I drove by an area a few miles west of the Ben Avery shooting range where there were RVs parked on what I assume is BLM land. How do I know that this is BLM land and is there any permit required if you just stay a night. I have not done BLM camping since many areas have rough roads. This was right off the highway. I do not see it on the online BLM map
  21. I might check out some parks in my wanderings the next couple of months around Idaho for future reference. What parks would you recommend if I wanted to volunteer in Visitor Centers as a single. I prefer not to have alot of cleaning responsibilities Thanks for the info
  22. Since there are some socially distanced events starting to pop up with Escapees are their any chapter events starting to reschedule events
  23. I like the Oxygenics as well but put a shut off valve in line near the head to easily shut the water off. I prefer not to use my shower because of the small size but with COVID now many of the showers are closed and I would not want to use them anyway. I take a shower at night and allow my curtain to dry out open overnight and run the fan. A squeegee to wick the water off the walls and direct it to the floor drain works well too
  24. A company called Westat hires retired teaching to do testing in the schools and pay for your travel. NAEP is the project. You do that have to be a licensed educator.
  25. I think the network with us working remote just has too many people on it. I do seem better today. After 5pm yesterday the upload and download speeds soared. I am not in a business area but we are working via computer network and when onedrive kicks in I get kicked out at times.
