  1. So I admit I am quite technology challenged, and not too awful ashamed. While looking at dash cameras, someone in a youtube comment (I know....) mentioned that some of the new dashcams with wifi and other connectivity means for downloading to your phone etc, can, or might, or do, depending if the manufacturer has contracts or ties with a governing agency, send video as it is recorded without you knowing about it. ? I know, right? Normally I would have a good chuckle and tell myself it takes a lot of tin foil nowdayz. However, giving that it is 2023 and the amazing amount of other public monitoring cameras etc., now I'm not laughing so much. So is it possible and/or probable for this to be going on?
  2. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, they would print a pin out diagram for you from the manual, that shows the pins with voltages. It is a simple thing to do, but for sure can be daunting to think about as it is dealing with a very expensive ecm to replace should things go wrong. Low voltage, or many loss of signal issues at the ecm will/can cause random and inconsistent dash codes. Some of them show up on a obd hand held scanner, but many do not. And to make matters worse, you can have these issues one day, and a few days later if the weather changes, the issues can go away. On the Davco. This is a youtube link to how the Davco works. If you would rather not follow links, youtube search "how the davco fuel filter works" and you will see a video put up by Davco technology. This video will explain to you how the system works and why the davco bowl is clear to view the fuel level inside.

    DPF cleaning

My opinion. Fix it right. Then look into "snake oil" additives for the fuel. Additive is a very controversial subject and will get no end of heated discussion from both sides. I however, find credible information from those that share their company fuel and repair info in hard copy. Preferably, an additive with a catalyst approved for DPF and SCR emissions. I'll not promote any particular product brand or any particular company for info, as that is up to you to find so that you can trust the sources that you look for, but truck shows are a great place to find actual info, and/or sources for further info. I was able to find several Cummins owner/operators that had tried several products to reduce regens and derates from clogging. Many products that I had considered were debunked and no longer on my list. I'd like the best fuel economy that I can get, as my rv is not making me any money, but my priority now is to reduce the cost of emission maintenance over fuel economy. Idling is the death of the DPF. Do not idle any longer than absolutely needed.
  4. A lot of people like to wash their engine compartment and when doing so, especially an engine with some miles on it, accidentally get the water too close to the ecu/ecm connections. It takes very little to cause condensation to appear on the pin connections, and/or get a bit of water by the seal if the connector has been removed a time or two. If the power pin at the connector has any corrosion, or oxidation, either from moisture or heat with a slack connection tolerance, that pin can not carry the full voltage needed. No matter how new or clean the batteries, the compromised connection can not carry the volts nor amps needed for the ecm to operate. Check vehicle ecu, check brake ecu, and check light module. All at the same time? I dunno, but once you're done with the rest of the connections, I'd almost bet the power pin is'nt carrying proper voltage at the ecm.
  5. I believe the Davco runs on filter resistance. Low fuel level means a clean filter. Once the filter begins blocking, the fuel level raises.
  6. Even though the batteries are near new and charged, I would still consider checking the alternator. A faulty alternator diode pack or even a regulator gone bad, can cause power supply issues to the ecu/ecm and all modules.

    CoachNet

Like a lot of things now days, it seems location could be a factor. Here's a recent youtube video from the Traveling Marlins whom have a class A, and needed to use Coachnet. They're plenty happy with how they were treated. So far, I'm pretty lucky and have not had to deal with insurance claims, nor towing service request from Coachnet etc. But I do understand that this is 2023, and people in general suck. So trying to hire a person to politely and properly handle a call center for towing a vehicle is going to be very difficult.
  8. Which direction of the flow of power in the picture? Main cut first, then ignition, or ignition first, then main cut off? This scenario can also be tested using a light before finding a meter. I bought a couple of these from amazon and they would work great for this testing scenario. Link to amazon test light with voltage meter. If you prefer not to follow links, I understand. Google search "12 volt test light" and find the amazon ad that reads "Premium Digital LED Automotive Circuit Tester, DC 2.6V-32V Test Light with Portable PU Extended Spring Wire, Vehicle Circuits Low Voltage Light Tester with Sharp Stainless Probe" This tester will give you the indication of whether power is at a terminal with the light, then tell you the voltage that comes with it.
  9. Our semi tame barn cat makes bad choices for rest stop locations from time to time. We use a high concentrate mint fragrance. We use it in stinky pesticides. The "masking agent" fragrance however has no pesticide in it. Here's an example. Link to Monterey odor mask. We mix it a bit on the stiff side, and spray it wherever said cat sets up shop and we have to walk there.
  10. Yep. Something along those lines. It's getting to be bully policy at more places than costco. Lawyers. The people ya love to hate......till ya need one.
  11. "Unfair business practice"? I hope that "unfair" bill includes language to protect the land owner from squatter practice then. If the rv tenant is paying the fees and not being an unruly pos, 99% of rv park owners would just as soon leave them be for however long they wish to stay. One of the major points of this "shuffle" is to avoid things like adverse possession etc. If it passes without language protecting the park owners, I hope all rv park owners in that country disband and sell the land to housing.
  12. Yep. My forum list keeps getting smaller every year. Less and less participation. But I came from a time before computers and the www. Though I prefer to not go without them now, I do find myself less interested in asking on a forum what I can just google search. This progress/egress has been the result of...........yep, just as the OP mentions, less participation by the members of forums.
  13. Just curious as I am considering joining the "solos" group, but would like some input about their social characteristics from members or friends of members that goes beyond the very limited website scope. PM me if you'd rather not talk publically for whatever reasons. Thank you.

    top bunk

🤣😂 OMG !! That's a keeper. A dear friend of mine has been turning into a bitter curmudgeon over the years working at a place he hates etc. I finally called him on it and told him he needs to change the negativity or people, including me, wont want to be around him anymore. Another friend was present at the time. The other friend suggested a "curmudgeonectomy".
  15. Typically, there is a "manufacturing tolerance", in pad compound chemistry and even in rotor metallurgy. So it's not always the amount of wear, it can be the performance value of pad compound or rotor metallurgy that may cause an amount of braking performance difference. In other words, pull to one side or the other.
  16. This is a link to a youtube video from Germany of how to make a sugar free chocolate dessert using bananas and bakers chocolate. If you prefer to not click on links, in youtube, search "chocolate and banana", then the video from the channel Schnelle Rezepte is the one you want to watch. I tried it and though mine was a failure as I did not whip the bananas that fine, it was still very delicious. I would have never imagined that just bananas would be able to sweeten bakers chocolate so well. And baker's chocolate is high in anti-oxidants.
  17. Amazon customer service just told me that no, it is not possible to know what shipping company the seller will use before purchasing the item. Not through Amazon anyway. Contacting the seller may be an option, but that would then also mean an extra step or two and possible delays as many sellers have hours of operation. So, basically, unless the extra time is allowed and extra participation is added, ya git wut'cha git. Oh well, I had to ask. All in all, it is just so nice (for me anyway) to be able to just pull up a few competitive websites and shop price for about 1 minute, then click ad to cart on Amazon and it's here in very short time. Saves me so very much grief trying to fight traffic and/or weather to get to a local store to find out they are out, then back home again. Because I have a side hustle that makes money, an hour drive to save 5$ just never pans out anymore. I'm pro technology, but I only use what I can. Probably only use 5% of what my phone can do, but that 5% is so awesome.
  18. Folivier, that's ridiculous. That was the method 40 years ago. Today your packages should show up at your doorstep unless other arrangements are made for whatever reason. As I mention in my original statement, I've noticed over the years, that issues with most all delivery service companies seems to be location oriented. Some love fedex and very much dislike UPS etc. It depends on management or some other regional setting it seems. My fedex package showed up sunday. I was amazed, it was actually in it's original box and in reasonable condition. I hope to get time to contact amazon about the shipper choices soon. The weather looks good today, so I will be outside working. Tomorrow looks like more rain, so.....
  19. Thank you. Now that you mention it, I think there was a time a few years back that I actually did talk to someone at Amazon on the phone. I have used the chat a few times regarding order problems which they resolved quite fast and I have been very happy. I still may try the chat first. I have a tough time on hold for any length of time. Growing up before the www and cell phones, I always had to wait on a land line etc. Now I cant stand it.
  20. Thank you. I love my Amazon drivers. They are super awesome people. Any time I am home when they deliver, I always go out and say hi. UPS has treated us well. We used to have a "normal" route driver, his name was John, and he would bring treats for my dog. My dog loved UPS. He knew when brown was coming down the road long before we would know. Some times I had a dickens of a time getting Oso (my dog) out of the UPS truck when the John needed to get going. USPS, mixed, but usable. Packages get thrown onto the porch instead of set down nicely. Lots of damage packages. But usually close to on time. Fedex?....I think 20% on time and in original package would be close. Right now I am waiting for a package that has been delayed 5 days with fedex. I get it, weather, accidents, whatever, and it's all good. If I could'nt afford the risk of time, I'd go buy it locally. But I have had to cancel and re-order so many times only with packages shipped fedex. I'll try the customer service chat and see if there is an icon somewhere that I can click to view what shipper any Amazon seller uses before I place the order. I guess if time is not an issue, I can also contact the seller before I order?
  21. This is a long shot, and it is not that dig of deal, but my area has no luck at all with fed ex. This seems to be an area specific deal, I'm not going to complain, just have a question. Is there any way to find out what shipper Amazon will use for any order before placing the order? If possible, I need to avoid fed ex for my delivery area. I looked around on the Amazon site, but did'nt find anything. Likely Amazon does not know, as it is up to the vendor to select a shipper if the vendor is not a Amazon warehouse stocker. Or however that works. But I am curious is anyone might know of a way? Thank you.
  22. I received the notice for my 2009 Kia Sportage. I do not have a trailer hitch, but the recall mentioned the fuse box. I think it is similar as the mention of moisture intrusion may cause a short and start fire.
  23. I also wonder if maybe a rubber air hose in the system has separated and the internal liner has collapsed, which might explain the initial puff, then trickle. ? Or maybe if the glad hand is still being used, the rubber seal has slipped into the air stream?
