  1. I recommend Hualapai Mountain Park Campground near Kingman (if you can get it). It would sure beat staying in a AZ park model during the summer.
  2. We should have seen this coming. Have a listen. We're now the "United 50 Corporation" . . .
  3. We're work camping in Inyo County, CA, so we'll getting ready for the floodgates to open for campers coming from all over. We're very apprehensive as currently Inyo County is almost coronavirus free (see graphic below from Wunderground) as compared to the surrounding counties, and Inyo County has limited medical facilities.
  4. Get DPH42 switch Amazon Prime or DISH Depot. Here's where the DPH42 goes: Winegard Travler and Hopper 3. You can mount the DPH42 on your RV roof -- then you only have to run 1 coax from your Travler into your RV. However, I suggest making sort kind of sun shade over the DPH42 so it doesn't cook.
  5. Finally something definitive!
  6. Your post reminded me of this.
  7. Yep, I have a manual (ie, "portable") HughesNet Gen5 system. Since Starlink is "right around the corner" (so to speak), I'd postpone investing in a satellite Internet system until we see what Starlink is like when it (hopefully) rolls out this year or next. If you can't wait, I'd look into other cell data plans like AT&T. Check out the MIRC website. They're the best and the cost of membership is well worth it. If you still can't wait, then a HughesNet Gen5 system should be your last option because (1) the equipment is expensive, (2) the data plans are expensive, and (3) you're locked into a 2-year contract. The portable HughesNet Gen5 system equipment like mine costs about $2K and data plans range from 2 GB/month ($39.99/month) to 300 GB/month ($589.99/month): Finally, there are now automatic rooftop HughesNet Gen5 systems available from Oregon RV Satellite Systems from $4,990 to $6,395. Actually a great price for an automatic Ka-band system, but probably a lot more than you're willing to spend. Good luck.
  8. Master Chief is answering the call
  9. I used an RV drawer latch (Southco SC4320, 10 pounds pull force): I screwed mine to the fridge, but next time would use glue I think. In 7 years, I've had to replace it once.
  10. I was expecting Dad jokes, but these are good.
  11. Yep. The 70+ couple staying in the park model next to us are still going to Happy Hour with their friends.
  12. Besides California's 14-page list of Stay At Home exceptions (which includes "Workers supporting cannabis retail and dietary supplement retail" on page 4), California is permitting private RV parks to stay open, although cities or counties may order them closed (per Campendium).
  13. So far we'll still be work camping in CA in a few weeks.
  14. My best to you and Dave. Picked a hell of a time to get ill, eh?
  15. Not the ACA, but two people we know with Medicare supplements had to switch states when their supplement providers found out they were not actually living in the states they claimed. And one more . . . a AZ couple we know who liked their CA doctors so much that they used their daughter's address as their address so that they could keep their Kaiser CA insurance. This worked fine for years. The couple went to CA every year, checked into a hotel, and saw their doctors. Hunky dory. Until they needed extensive treatment this year. They now have to stay at expensive hotels while the hubby undergoes treatment. Oh, and it's way too late for them to switch back to AZ health insurance. Good enough, Kirk?
  16. Blues is incorrect. You can use your domicile address for ACA health plans if you actually spend "some time" there. On the other hand, if you use a state "in name only" as a domicile as many RVers do, then you may have "issues" with your ACA health plan when you most need it. "some time" = no clear definition, but if you think stopping in to your domicile to get your driver's license, and then leaving for the rest of year is enough time in state for the ACA, good luck. If staying in your domicile for a time is too much of a "burden" for you, then roll the dice. "in name only" = a "paperwork" domicile. What Escapees used to encourage until they got savvy. Now Escapees recommends that you actually spend some time in your domicile state. "issues" = you need major medical treatment and your health insurance company finds out you don't actually reside in the state you claim. Good luck. Also, you don't have to get a different health plan each time you move. Blues is misinterpreting this Health & Human Services (H&HS) SEP FAQ on the ACA which addresses what to do if you travel to different locations. Read this FAQ for yourselves. Finally, Blues claims I haven't offered a solution for full timers. I sure have -- plan to spend some time in that state you claim as a domicile. Apparently, Blues just does not want to spend quality time in his domicile, so he's been misconstruing what I and the H&HS SEP FAQ have said to fit his travel needs.
  17. A bit of good news from the StarLink Reddit . . . It is 362 launched with this launch today. However the first 2 were just test satellites. And the first batch of 60 (May 2019) were considered version 0.9 and were also likely test satellites. So 300 production satellites have been launched. Also a few were lost due to becoming inoperable, lost communications. So the real number of operational production satellites in orbit is likely 290-300 or so.
  18. The President When I was a kid my brother used "coon" and "nigger" to differentiate between black and white people. But that was in the past, so it was ok, eh?
