But would crab boil cause problems with the shells?

reminds me of a tale I heard of two gents talking about what they wanted to have happen when they pass away.

gent 1:  Would you mind pouring a bottle of chevas Regal on me grave when I die?
gent 2: Sure, but would you mind if I pass it through me kidneys first?

( best said with an attempt at a Scottish accent)

Interesting technology!

From the story "A biodegradable electrolyte means that about two-thirds of the battery could be broken down by microbes, with the chitosan electrolyte decomposed completely within five months. "

I wonder if that means if you smell a strong fishy scent in the battery compartment, the batteries are dead?

I assume that you reference the article that you emailed to me? Interesting indeed.

Maryland Engineers Get Cracking on Sustainability with Crab Shell-based Battery

@Kirk W Thats certainly interesting, but may not be a great idea (and I’m surprised Maryland would even SUGGEST it).  The Chesapeake Bay crab population is currently at the lowest ever recorded.  the Maryland Dept of Natural Resources havs estimated we have only ONE PERCENT of crabs left.  Since we live on the water, we pretty much refuse to buy crabs and will go crabbing ourselves (chicken necks are cheap!).  The only catch is that you may come back in from 12 hours of crabbing with nothing to show for it - which is why I always have a back-up dinner planned! LOL
