trimster
Running to our next destination, I'm noticing the water temp gage rarely gets to 200 even laboring up hills. In the flats...170. Seems low compared too the past. Where should I start troubleshooting? spindrift
Numbers look good to me. Why is your truck "laboring" up hills? What does your trailer weigh? usbusin
Robert, did you get your "water in the oil" problem sorted out? Could this be part of the problem? Fuel in the oil. Did an oil change to get us home. Monitoring the rise in oil level daily. So far...good. Don't know what motor you have, but my Volvo 465 doesn't get to 200 hardly ever and my trailer is big and heavy. Oil temps will get to 200 though. Occasionally on the hills the water temp will get high enough to trigger the fan to kick on, but it's usually nearing the 100's outside too. Glad you were able to make it back home and will get the fuel in the oil sorted out. trimster
Thanks for the input. I'll be back home on the 22nd. 3 one-night hops. About 800 miles total. Temps did climb to around 210 when pulling a steep (7%) grade in 11th gear @ 55mph. Held up by a class C in front of us. Otherwise, 180 when cruzing at speed. jenandjon
Temps are good. My work truck hardly ever gets up to 200 degrees loaded gross 95,000 lbs. SuiteSuccess
My D12 runs at 170 most of the time. Occasionally on long hill pull will climb to 190 but fan kicks in and temps come down. Also remember when that fan kicks in you will lose a little horsepower in the pull. I think your temps are right where they should be.
