I believe that's what noteven was implying a while back.  There's a lot of terms tossed about 'round the campfire that aren't used in the trucking world.  Some people like to put their own label on things.

Some RV blogger made that up and it stuck due IMO to trucker-wannabe's towing RV trailers. You never hear that outside the RV towing sector.

Oregon Revised Statutes 818-110.

(1)A person commits the offense of exceeding the maximum number of vehicles in combination if the person does any of the following:
(a)Drives or moves on a highway any combination of vehicles that consists of more than two vehicles.
(b)Owns any vehicle and causes or permits the vehicle to be driven or moved on a highway when the vehicle is in a combination of vehicles that consists of more than two vehicles. Operation of any combination of vehicles in violation of this section is prima facie evidence that the owner of the vehicles in the combination caused or permitted the combination to be so operated and the owner shall be liable for any penalties imposed under subsection (4) of this section as a result of the operation.
(2)The application of this section is subject to the exemptions from this section established under ORS 818.120 (Exemptions from limits on number of vehicles in combinations).
(3)Violation of the offense described in this section is subject to civil liability under ORS 818.410 (Civil liability for certain violations).

I skirt through the corner of Oregon going to the WCR every year double towing.  I always keep my eye out.  So far I haven't had an issue.  It would be a hassle and add quite a bit of added distance and time to not skirt the southeast corner of Oregon on Highway 95 going north out of Winnemucca, NV for me to get to the WCR.

We're just north of Medford in Shady Cove.  30 miles on I-5 and another 20 or so on US-62.  Pulled in the park and there were several comments about double towing in Oregon.... I'll say ignorance is bliss....  Went by the weigh station, and I know 2 highway patrol.  I have seen commercial doubles on the highway, so maybe the officers thought I was commercial.

I have a friend who got turned around at the border with recreational doubles (from Idaho into Oregon).  He was pulling with a pickup at the time and was obviously recreational (5th wheel double towing an ATV).
