leveling a 5er

well i need a secure way to level my rv. it sits left side low. ( couple legos) not much.

but nose very low. driveway thing.

thinking a fabed up "stand about 18 in sq. at the base. and 18 inches tall .

18 sq at the base with 3/8 - 1/2 spikes for the asphalt. (anti slide).

taper up to about 9 in sq. with a sq post coming out to link onto/into the front landing legs ( ground pads removed).

i can work with steel but alu is far lighter.

but does this sound like it would be stable?

and just might work?

yes my landing legs must extend out a long ways to even try and get to level.

Whose asphalt are you planning to tear up with these spikes?

Also your grammar is sort of confusing to me. Using complete sentences might help.

Are you trying to say that you need blocks that are more than 18 inches in height to lower your front landing gear onto?  Are you trying to park on the side of a mountain? Needing an extra 18+ inches under one end of your trailer compared to the other end is a LOT of slope. There is a reason camp sites are fairly level.  I'm thinking that some dirt work would be better than jacking the front up an extra 18+ inches

sorry my mind wanders around.

only for use in my driveway. not for use elsewhere.

thinking "spikes" so as to have no slipping. just over kill if so.

only thinking so as to not extend the landing legs' out sofar. might help keep it more stable?             my 200 pounds wiggles it more than i like sometimes.

with the foot print should be very stable. spread out any "stress" and indexing onto the landing legs ( ataching to a couple of the pin holes)  little if any wobble.

yes i do have a sloped drive at home.

will see about figguring amout of drop. but in 20 feet about a foot in one place at least.                        and also sloped corner to opposite corner. but not as much. dranage thing here.

right now coach is not even level and landing legs are out a bit. and my rig is only a 24 footer.

would like to buy one that is about 36 feet long.

but then if someone's' out there would like to do some digging. and rock busting. can-maybe move it to the back yard all nice and level.

well the numbers i gave were. just plucked out of thin air,

here are real numbers.

rear of rv is

D, 18 in  P, 19 in

trunion

D and P sides 21 in

just behind the front landing gear,

both sides 29 in

legs are

D 12 in leg, 15 1-2 in extender,

total with two lego blocks. is 29 in.

two lego blocks. ( 1  1/2 thick blocks, 1/4 in off due to stacking).

P 12 in leg,  16 in extender

one lego block. total is  29  1/2 in.

trunnion. to front legs is 113 in

trunnion to rear of frame 100 in.

so not off by much. just would not like the legs extened much more than now.

rough numbers only here.

will try and post a photo if i can.

this to the ground.

NOT to level.

  • 1 month later...

not as of yet.

truck is down got to fix it first.

thought it was done, but for some reason i have a very bad oil leak now. if dry ( light rain tonight) in the am, i can clean up the mess, then remove things till i find out the source of said leak.

thinking turbo oil drain pipe.

as the oil psi was good.
