I'mdonewiththis forum
You should have no odor coming out of your sink due to the P-trap that has water in it to stop odors. Most likely your air admittance valve just down stream of the trap has failed. They are easy (usually) to replace. They unscrew and you screw a new one in its place. Here is what they generally look like: http://images.meredith.com/diy/images/2009/02/p_SCP_215_06.jpg You can get them at most big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
I'mdonewiththis forum
suction from draning must have sucked water out of trap... dump a lil chemical for holding tank in drain and add water If that is the case the air admittance valve is stuck shut. There water should not ever get sucked out of a trap.
Pat & Pete
Any decent hardware store will carry the valves as well . Goes around , comes around .

I'd highly suspect that this is the right answer as those devices do wear out and need to be replaced. You can see just what it looks like and how to replace one by visiting this link to our website. They are available at Lowe's, Home Depot, or most any plumbing supply store. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... I'm of the sodium hypochlorite persuasion -- dump some bleach down the drain. Zulu
Bleach is a bad idea if you are in a park on a septic system. As long as you don't dump a whole quart down the drain, bleach will break down into salt & water in short order. Plus, bleach doesn't hurt RV plumbing. Barbaraok
Sodium bicarbonate is better at sweetening drains, helps to buffer tank solution, and better for holding tanks. But I'm just a chemist, so what do I know.
