On The Road
I am about to put new shocks on my 2001 volvo 610 and am looking put the best shock for our application. I have looked in the resource guide and have not found much on front shocks, I am not sure I am searching correctly but have tried. I have also looked in this forum and have read about changing them but need the correct number and brand that is the best. I have found Monroe Gas Magnum # 65494 and #65466, but not sure which of these is correct. I have seen that Gabriel is not the best to use. If I am changing them I would like to put the best on the truck. Just a little help....... Thanks Jim
MrSeas
Have you considered the "stock" shock?
Broncohauler
Just asked my kid that sells parts for Kenworth. And he said the Pacar shocks are the best right now. Cost around $60-$100 each. Berzmo can tell you about the Kings he's running but they're big bucks. And my son herd something about king being paid to put their name on someone else's shock, but don't hold me to that one please

billr
Got mine at Volvo store stock. They were Monroes. Not sure if they were original but that's what they sold. Cost was around $60 per if I remember tight. That was 7 yrs ago.
Wrknrvr
Put something on the nuts to try and get them to move while your waiting for new shocks. Maybe even try to get some into where the bolts go through the shock end. May help with the instal as they can be Pita.
On The Road
I am using the half acetone and half auto trans fluid and keeping wet till I get the shocks. Does anyone know which of the two numbers I have narrowed it down to. Monroe 65494 or Monroe 65466. I cannot find out much difference in the two. So if anyone knows which of these part numbers is correct, that information would be appreciated. Thanks to all for the help. Jim
CrazyCooter
I got KYB's for mine, but they say made in USA on them....Leads me to believe they may be made by Monroe/Tenneco? The fronts made a noticeable difference in the ride and control on the bumps back roads. The RoadKings should be sweet!
