Alamorosa575
Hi I am looking for suggestions and help finding a campground for the month of Jan 2016 in or near the Phoenix area. We are under 55 (just barely) and have it would be just the 2 of us. We have a larger 5th wheel. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks. LindaH
Desert's Edge RV Park -- http://www.desertsedgerv.com/ North Phoenix RV Park -- http://www.northphoenixrvpark.com/ Desert Sands RV Park -- http://www.campingfriend.com/desertsandsrvpark/ Pleasant Harbor RV Resort -- http://www.pleasantharbor.com/rv-resort/ Desert Shadows RV Resort -- http://www.phoenixrvresorts.com/ These are just some of the ones I came up with on a Google search, looking at the map and clicking on each park to get to their website. The only one we've stayed at is Pleasant Harbor...it's nice, but they charge $10 for pets, so we won't be staying there again. I'm sure there are many more non-55+ parks, but you'll probably have to stay away from the Mesa/Apache Junction area and look into RV parks farther out (the ones I've listed are all in the northern park of the Valley). Bill Joyce
We have stayed at Desert Sands in the north end of Phoenix proper and there were kids running around, so it was not a 55+ campground. Arizona Maverik in Mesa is not 55+ and Carefree Manor in Apache Junction is also not 55+.
Darryl&Rita
We stayed in Carefree last winter, while I was long-distance commuting to Canadian oilpatch work. Great community environment, and like most places in Apache Junction, light on rules and heavy handed enforcement. A great place to settle into, even though we were close to 20 years younger than most.
SWharton
Phoenix area is big. Where do you want to stay, North, South, East or West.
BigSilver
Don't tell them your age unless they ask. If you're that close to 55, they probably won't care.
soos
Mesa Regal in Mesa. live music every day outside at the bar, several pools, hot tubs etc., lots of activities, GREAT fitness center..... the list goes on.
Bill Joyce
Mesa Regal is 55+, as are all Cal-Am parks. But 55+ means they will allow some under 55.
soos
I have been frequenting Mesa Regal for many years, and I JUST turned 55. I have never been questioned about my age at any Cal-am resort.
jamtracy
For only a month they probably wont care. We've stayed in Goodyear a couple of times and unless your going to live there they allow under 55 and we are 5 years off. Make some calls and find out. Bill Joyce
At my first longer stay Val Vista Village made me sign a piece of paper that I was 55 or older.
2gypsies
I've heard that, even though they say 55+, by law they have to admit a certain percentage of under 55.
a1rstreamer
Actually, they have to have at least a certain percentage of 55+. So, you may, if you so wish, stay the month at RoVers' Roost (the Escapee Co-Op in Casa Grande). Casa Grande is roughly half-way between Phoenix and Tucson. There is, however, a 40-foot limit on RV's that can stay there.
