bigjim
I don't know if they still use volunteers out at the Bombing range but if you are interested you might check. It is out of Avon Park about 12 miles as I recall. I volunteered there in the winter of 99/2000. That is almost all I remember except that the town of Avon Park was fairly small but nice enough. I think I did most of my shopping down at Sebring. The guy I was assigned to work for as a volunteer was from Frostproof but is probably retired and gone by now. I liked the area. Not much info but maybe usefull.
whj469
It should be a nice place to winter with mild weather. Not as good weather as southern Florida but many people don't mind the cooler weather of northern Florida in the winter. Good Luck
Mariner
We spent 3mos. near Avon Park in Frostproof. The weather was for the most part great. I had an interest in Adelaide Rv Resort in Avon Park, but can't find anyone who's stayed there. I looked at www.rvparkreviews.com , but it's hard to form an opinion sometimes from those reviews. oldjohnt
We base out of Lake Bonnett Village which is between Avon Park and Sebring on SR 17 out in the Orange Grove area. WE LOVE IT HERE http://www.lakebonnetvillage.com/ Its on a nice lake if that matters to you. Its like 4/5 miles to Sebring or 4/5 to Avon Park, easy driving. Worth a look see but we will be leaving soon heading north. John T
