Wanderin
Jeff, what do ya say we both try somewhere dryer next year? Perhaps, away from the coastlines...seems to be a pattern at least for us! "Peyton who"...what have you got against the elderly... ! Roger We've been lucky in we're just a tad north of Miami and haven't had the rain that Jeff has had. However, next year I'm thinking San Diego but we really do like Bonita Springs ... really, really do. Figure we'll head west in the spring sometime and would like to visit with Freddy and Delcie before they head on to Colorado and the Gillespie crew before they head north. I know we'll see the rest of those in Texas sometime and somewhere (yes, you, Roger). Thinking we'll probably put RV in storage in Arizona someplace until fall and then start all over again with the snowbird thing in the fall. You know how good we are at making plans and keeping them. steved44
Hey, Jeri, we stayed at the Elks in El Cajon last year and it's a good location to explore San Diego from. They have 7 or 8 sites and a dump on premises. Just on the East side of SD. Yes rain is on the coast! West coast that is. We managed to drive all day today with no rain, but it's raining in Coos Bay right now. We made it to the Mill Casino for a few days to catch our mail and get some full hook ups. The Oregon coast was awesome today with wind and the surf was really pounding. I forgot how pretty this drive was (and that was in 2011) hmmm. Not too much traffic this time of year and except for the wind, we had no fog so it was a nice drive. IYQ
Spent most of the day yakking with cowgirl Margie who I didn't know was here until I got here yesterday. I thought she was still in Benson AZ. I also watched the Panther / Saints game. It's the first football game I've watched since 2008. I picked a good one. I should go back to Deming tomorrow but I'm enjoying the long walks and solitude down here so may pay for another day or two. The weather is beautatious. Sun, no wind, mid 60's. soos
It's on our short list Linda. After following S & P's postings this summer not sure if I could handle the heat...however, "it's a dry heat"...LOL! Roger C'mon over and hang out when you are in the area! And yeah, we have no intention of EVER being here in the summer! So come visit before then! We checked out the Havasu RV Resort, they have Casitas and what knot but just didn't have the activities it seemed. I'm not a big water person so the lake isn't a huge draw to me. Havasu Resort is where we spent the summer. They do have activites all winter long, but of course, none in the summer, because no one is here! Still, no comparison to Mesa Regal etc! Onthego
We got a reprieve from the rain yesterday. A light shower in the morning and evening. Today they are talking more rain. Saw this morning the average rainfall for Dec. is 1.6 inches and we've gotten 13 inches so far. Yikes! Sunshine by Thursday. We got out and walked the dog a lot, took her to a doggie park and road our bikes yesterday. It cools to around 70 at night and 80 during the day. We'll be out west next winter for sure. May take until then to dry out. LOL! GO BRONCOS!!! Peyton who? Travel safe everyone. hdrider
Time for another move. After 6 nights here in Yuma we are headed to the Escapee park in Aguanga Ca. today. We will spend 28 nights there and then head to Q. At least that's the "plan" right now. We may toss in a stop in Borrego before Q. Or the HUGE IF is we might MIGHT get the itch and beat feet to Southern Texas. I have a real hankerin to check out that area but maybe after hearing reports from Roger while they visit the area that thought could get squashed. A fast trip to Texas like that would be so out of character that I have a hard time imagining that would happen. IYQ
I did come back to Deming today. I decided I'd better do some cleaning of this trailer and transfer all liquids and food stuff to the Navion. I sure hope that water heater and awning for the trailer gets here Friday. If it doesn't I think I'll winterize it myself and take off for AZ anyway. After I crawl under the trailer to drain the fresh water tank and low point drain, I hope I can get back out. We did walk the beach one day but it really wasn't a beach day. We haven't had one since we've been here. They say the weather is clearing up but we have to see it to believe it. However, it hasn't been that bad besides we're heading to Phoenix next week for a short visit and then on to Washington for the holidays. I'm sure that's when the nice weather will arrive down here. I think I brought Murphy with me especially since we caught a tad of the "Rempe disease". By a "tad of the "Rempe disease", I hope that you mean it's gone for now? That disease can be very costly to cure and hang around for quite a while! I hope you find the people friendly, we didn't. We stayed here for 2 weeks last year about this time and enjoyed it, that's what brought us back. Sorry you didn't find the people friendly, maybe we just got lucky. We even had people walk up when they saw our "visitor" tags and offer to share there table over Christmas if we didn't have anyone to share it with which we thought was very kind. We had friends here that actually had the Ranch House reserved so we were covered but the offer was nice. And had people invite us to their sites for Happy Hours and other activities. Maybe if they remember us it might be different this time around LOL!!! We really like the "out in the country" feel here. We have only one friend who has done it and they had a hellva time. I'm still getting up the nerve to pull the string myself. Waitin' on a rainy day to do it I guess. Maybe this weekend? Anyway, the guy leading the computer class said that he had no problem with his Dell pc but, his Toshiba needed to have some new drivers installed that he was able to download from their web site. He recommended doing an image back up of your hard drive before attempting just to be safe. Without the speed of a cable modem, I'm afraid that alone would take me days doing that to "the cloud". Perhaps I should look into getting an external hard drive after all to do that image? Roger Quote Roger & Lynn Rempe Class of 2012 & "Class-less"! Wanderin
Please post your findings about Windows 10. I have been so tempted to upgrade because it comes up all the time. We have only one friend who has done it and they had a hellva time. Both of Both of us have upgraded. We also know quite a few others who have without an issue. How's the rain in your area? I knew southwest Washington had set records for rain but didn't know the extent of it until Sandie sent me a text this morning wanting to know how our kids were doing. Thus, I called them. Evidently, their little town of Kalama has made the news. It's totally flooded! The police station had 8" of water in it this morning and now I guess it's up to over a foot. Exits from the freeway are closed. Even I5 was closed due an accident caused by the flooding. Three people were killed. A little RV Park in Kalama has had floating RVs. They had to bring in tow trucks to pull them out. They're now blocking the roadway. Daughter couldn't drive north for work but could go south on the freeway towards Portland to work in another location. DIL couldn't get to work in Woodland. She couldn't drive through Kalama as water was too high for her car. We park our Jeep in a storage area behind our daughter's house. Evidently there was a landslide there and a few trees came down. Our vehicle escaped getting hit but others didn't. What a mess for sure. Son's house is on the top of the hill behind the City Hall in the picture below. He's high up ... thank goodness. He's always had a view of the Columbia River from the 2nd floor of his house. Now he has a better water front view. steved44
OMG! It's been raining for the last couple of weeks and the wind has been really strong too, all the way down the coast. I finally got sick of driving in it so we stopped here in Coos Bay. The sun actually came out this morning for a few minutes, but the forecast is more rain and high wind. That city hall picture is really scary! I hope your kids come through this ok. Looks like this rain we're having is heading North. We'll keep our fingers crossed. Having problems with the jacks (won't go down). We may have to backtrack to Eugene to get them worked on. I think I know what the problem is (bad circuit board), and I have a spare one, but I can't change it myself. On our old bus, I could get to the darn thing, but on this one it is quite a battle to get to. I'm getting too old and fat to wiggle around under this thing. That and windows 10!! Sigh! Joe said there's a short reprieve from the rain but they are expecting more. Sounds like the more is going to be coming from where you are at. Even without the flooding the soaking of the ground will probably bring down a lot of trees and those trees are big there!! Jerry had the same issue with his jacks.
