Lots of rain here in southern Florida this weekend. could be as much as they usually get in December January and February altogether. It's not cold.

Travel safe everyone.

Jeff

Bet it's that "El Nino" brat Jeff! Nice and sunny here in Port Aransas (for now). I think that the temps are about normal (high 60's). Now if someone could find that fan switch to shut off the wind...LOL!

Wow Roger, if you think that is gonna happen then I got some Ocean Front Property in Nevada to talk to you about. ;) Seems a few years back I spent a year there one December and the wind blew so much I was only able to use my lil gas weber 3 times. I signed up for a fishing trip the first week and it got cancelled so many times I never did get out.

Back home now. Had a great time in Florida. Was fun meeting up with Jeri and Terry, also with Jerry and Janice. ( Hope Janice is over being mad at me  ) Of course it was fun seeing the Grand Kids also. Dang but they be gettin big. We are kinda thinking about maybe spending a month down there next winter.

Every time we talk to someone about southern Texas wind comes up as part of the conversation and it urns Diane off, she does not like the wind. I just had her convinced again to at least go check it out the Mission Texas area so I will not mention your comments to her LOL!!

Mission, Texas, has two things: wind and traffic. We don't care for either so never went back there. I hope your plan is to only stay a short while because that's what you will be doing if Diane has a vote.

I mustn't feel like it would be bragging but we have perfect weather today. Mid-70's, bright skies and no wind. We had our fair share of unpleasant weather on the way west so it's nice.

It is really nice to be back in the park. We know almost everyone. We have a really nice site. December is full of activities but I will do my best to not overdo.

We were in Mission last year and I didn't think it was that bad but we spent a month in Port Isabel and the wind never seems to stop. We are at Gonzales, Texas right now and I am so tired of the wind, the rain and the cold. Although we are having sun for the next 7 days. Yeah!!!!

We had pretty good weather while we were in Casa Grande last month and it hasn't been that bad here in Yuma other than a couple cool days early in the week and some breeze. But it's been in the 70's the last couple days and is supposed to be in the high 70's all next week but we will be moving on Monday.

The only real reason we think about Mission Texas is because of the Ratema Village RV Park. After 3 years I think we are both thinking about a spot to sit still for a few months during the winter and both want a small Casita type thing with outdoor living and a little storage where we can we can spread out a little. And the prices at Retema seem to be more affordable than a couple spot like it in Arizona even though at this point Arizona is our top choice because well,,,, we are just west coast people I guess.

Have you checked out Ajo, Arizona?

Very affordable, very beautiful and interesting.

We checked out Ajo while camping at Organ Pipe a coupe years ago and you are right, nice small town and the type of place we like to visit while in travel mode. But if we find a spot to sit for 4 months it will probably be in a little bigger town, 20,000 to 30,000 would be perfect but certainly under 100,000 people. And we will be looking for nice landscaping (some green would be nice) and a place with activities. Lets just say we don't need to stay in the nicest of parks while we are touring and love state parks BUT it we are going to sit for a few months, I (more than Diane) will be wanting plush surroundings. And the sites are going to need to be at least 40x80 or so, no close together camping during that time. And eventually having a casita type building that can maybe offer a nice bathroom and a sating area that can open up to the outside for and create a nice outdoor living area would be idea.

Let me know when you find that Dave...sounds like what we may be looking for. Oh, and Lynn (being a retired nurse) insists on competent health care nearby. I'd like a pontoon boat but, it might be hard to float that in the desert!

I changed the scenery for the weekend. I'm down at Poncho Villa state Park in Columbus NM. I'll probably go back to Deming Monday. The new Sending unit for the propane guage on the Navion came in yesterday but when I took the Navion in to have it installed they found that they had sent the wrong unit again. The problem seems to be that all 4 of the RV supply houses have been taken over by one company and the individual houses can no longer make decisions on their own. They have to refer everything to the parent company so nothing gets done in a timely fashion. If Jimmy can't get the correct part by next friday I thing I'll just forget about it until I get back in February or March. His dad use to own the local LP plant and Jimmy worked there until it was sold. Yesterday he even drove over there to see if they had the part but no luck. Anyway I'm going to enjoy the peace and beauty of this park till Monday and not worry about the trip west until next week.

Ajo no longer has a hostital. The old hospital building is for sale. They have a fairly large clinic with limited services. The town is too small to support anything more. The nearest full service hospital is in Casa Grande and of course Tucson isn't much farther away.

Sounds like you may need to join Sue & Paul in Lake Havasu City. Desert boating. Not sure about the health care there, though.

Ovens are also a dry heat!!

We visited with Eric and Karla today and plan on getting together with them along with the Hintons and Hyders this next week for a kayaking adventure.

Lots of pontoon boat opportunities in Florida. Come down and we'll give one a try.

We checked out the Havasu RV Resort, they have Casitas and what knot but just didn't have the activities it seemed. I'm not a big water person so the lake isn't a huge draw to me.

We may need a pontoon boat soon. Been raining off and on since Thursday night. Just blocks from us in Kendall got almost 9 inches yesterday alone. Keep getting flood advisories on the phone. Rain is in the forecast for a few more days. :( The average total for Dec.,Jan., and Feb. is 5.9 inches in Miami.
