  1. The only way to be truly free is to live your life as a recluse, hermit.
  2. So share with us what value the group has for those of us who served but are excluded from use of the military campgrounds? My VA identity card won't get me access to any of them since I only put in 8 years. I did look at the website but since the Escapade is enough rally for us each year, I just don't see much to justify my joining.
  3. Not sure what part of TX you will be visiting, but here in east TX it has been humid, but not that stormy of late. Still haven't hit 100° but it is getting close and the humidity has made it hot! We used to have family in Leadville but now all of them live down along the front range.
  4. Actually, there are always some people who attend that do not own an RV and who stay in a motel or hotel nearby. And you do not have to be a member of Escapees, but do pay more to attend if you are not, and the vast majority of attendees are also Escapees. A very popular thing with new members and with those who are getting ready to buy an RV is to attend the Escapee Boot Camp that takes place just before the Escapade begins. It is a good way to learn before you buy and you could then stay over and participate in the rally as well.

    Truck stops

Welcome, to the Escapee forums! Most truck stops do have RVs spend the night there.
  6. You might want to consider attending the next Escapade which will be at the MO state fairgrounds in Sedalia the last week of May 2018.
  7. There are some significant differences between the refrigerator that he has and yours so is you follow this link it will take you to a service manual for your model.
  8. That is what I have been using for several years.
  9. If it were me, I'd lift the negative cable from the battery as well. In. I have found it takes far too many moth balls and they slowly stop working. I packed steel wool around the entry for the power cord and filled any other openings that we not tight with an expanding foam. Can't hurt but if you have drained the water heater and antifreeze in the plumbing, you shouldn't need to. Of course if you plan to leave any canned goods in the RV you will need to do so as freezing will make them leak. You should then leave cabinet doors open.
  10. You can also find them on Amazon and in this case for $10 less.
  11. Per my post back on May 18, current tires are ST205/75R14. Mine is 3800# GVWR, 2012 model. Still studying available tires but plan to make a purchase soon. I have been too busy to get it done recently. While I have been RVing for many years, only recently have we returned to travel trailers and many things have changed. Nice to hear the opinions of other RVers and tire experts. I'll continue to read any suggestions or thoughts.
  12. Either that or supply a new tire and wheel. You may have to either pick it up or pay for shipping of it, but I'd not travel with a smaller spare.
  13. That sure narrows things down and makes the pump suspect. Like Jack, I'd probably rebuild it first, unless you just want one of the newer, quieter pumps.
  14. Before you get too far, most RV water pumps are adjustable for the pressure that they turn off at, but they also need a large enough volume capacity to keep up with your shower or won't maintain the pressure you need. From your post, I'm guessing that you have a pressure gauge on the city supply? While we don't often fool with the pump pressure, it is helpful if you have a way to check the output pressure as well. I borrowed one that fit on a faucet in place of the screen that is usually there but I don't own one or know where the owner got the one that I used. I believe that most RVs come with either a Flowjet or a Sureflow pump installed and usually one of the lower volume ones. When replacing one, I always use a pump of at least 3 gpm capacity but as you increase that output capacity you also increase the cost. In my opinion (for all that may be worth) the diameter of water lines in an RV is too restrictive to gain much by using a pump with higher volume than that, but they are available.
  15. When we were fulltime I always had my scroll saw and an assortment of both power and hand wood tools. I made small projects for gifts, particularly for our grandsons. We also spent a lot of time as resident volunteers for wildlife refuges where I often spent time in the wood shop or building small buildings, observation decks, and similar projects.
  16. Anyone know about the Goodyear Endurance trailer tires? I haven't found a local dealer for the Maxxis but did find these.
  17. Got the trailer back and doing some serious shopping now. Current tires are ST205/75R14.
  18. Not sure what you mean, "like Good Sam?" You mean allowing people with trailers to join?
  19. Better yet, use the USFWS volunteer page to go directly to the facility that you are considering.
  20. I would question any company that does this as it usually means that the advisor has left the company. Take a hard look at how you have done while with the company. Many people will choose and advisor and stick with him if successful, even when/if he changes companies. If he doesn't make you enough money to exceed what he is paid for his services, then he isn't worth the cost and a really good one should be able to make more for you than you could do yourself, even after he gets paid. If you are just investing in mutual funds and leaving your money where it is, then should you even have a money manager? Be careful when you take advice from others about how to manage your investments yourself and keep in mind that on a public forum anyone can claim to have made himself rich by managing his money himself no matter what is actually the case. We have all known people who constantly visit the casinos and claim to always leave as winners and self-investing is little different.
  21. So? I would go to Bryant RV website and download a copy of the appropriate Dometic service manual. In it, you should be able to find the appropriate fuse to use. There exist a very wide range of fuses in terms of speed so it would be risky to use a slow blow fuse where it isn't required. It also sounds like your heater is drawing more than the normal current as it should not be that sensitive. Normal operating currents on most refrigerators run closer to 3a than to 5a except when there is the brief starting surge. Using the wrong fuse could come back to haunt you at some time in the future.
  22. Will do. It will be a couple of weeks probably.
  23. Welcome to the Escapee forums and thanks for you information.
